Something that should probably have a relatively simple answer...half of my loading videos now look like the attached picture. The other half look normal.

This just started happening out of the blue. I upgraded to the newest PBX and it didn't fix the issue. Also re-downloaded the original loading videos and that didn't fix it either.

I don't really care if I have loading vids, but it's just weird that this happens.

i assume they all worked before - any idea on software or config changes that might have caused it?

Try loading the latest lav filters anyway - https://forums.gameex.com/forums/files/file/2451-lav-video-codecs/

If that doesn't work post a link to one of the loading videos you have an issue with.

Yeah, they all worked before this. I don't recall making any sort of software or config changes.

When I get home, I will load the filters you speak of and let you know what's going on.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Please attach copies of your latest pinballx.ini and log.txt files when reporting issues such as this. There is much diagnostic information that can be derived from them and it can shorten the triage of the reported error. Thanks!

Think i found the loading video on VPU, this one;

deadpool.zip

I get the same loss of colour when used as a loading video. But it will work ok as a playfield video, so i guess that rules out codecs(?).

Thought it might be because the video wasn't muted, so i muted it and got the same issue when used as a loading video.

But, by changing the resolution of the video from 1734x976 to 1920x1080 and it seems to then work ok (used ffmpeg -i deadpool.mp4 -vf scale=1920:1080 deadpool2.mp4  - this will have changed some other video properties too though)

@tabascoman77 can you try this version

deadpool2.zip

Sorry, i don't know if the issue is with the original video or something to do with PinballX

edit - for info my lav config is as here - https://forums.gameex.com/forums/topic/23097-resolved-pinballx-v360-loading-videos/?do=findComment&comment=189457

Try to downgrade the pinballx version, to check if it is a pinballx issue.

If you have an older version where it is working, Tom will be able to fix it

I'll see if that's the issue. I might have to go back a couple versions. Before that, I'm gonna try re-scaling the vid.

That worked! Checking each vid that doesn't work, the constant is that they're smaller than 1080p. So, I'm guessing the solution is to make sure each vid is at 1920x1080.

EDIT: Just audited all my vids and upscaled all the smaller ones to 1080p. Every single one I upscaled works perfectly. Problem solved. Thanks, Scuttle! It's funny because I was thinking conversion was gonna come into the picture sooner or later but it never occurred to me that making them exactly 1080p was going to solve it. :)

Now that we know the solution, any idea why the problem occurred in the first place?  If these same videos worked before without conversion, something changed.
