tthurman
Has anyone seen this? There is a one night only showing here in KnoxVegas next week!Like a lot of others, I've spent a considerable amount of time listening to Pink Floyd, but at first wasn't to "up" on the idea when William called me earlier tonight regarding attending this next week. The more I've looked into though, it looks badass!
hansolo77
Sounds pretty cool. But to be honest, if I went I'd probably be completely lost. I know OF Pink Floyd, but don't KNOW them. I might recognize a song on the radio, but wouldn't recognize it was them. I'm kinda a music newbie. Don't really listen to much.

I might recognize a song on the radio, but wouldn't recognize it was them. I'm kinda a music newbie. Don't really listen to much.I don't even know where to start with this, but if your only exposure is what you might have heard on the radio, then you tube "Dark Side of the Moon" or "Wish you were here" for a prime example. these will only scratch the surface. My bias aside, they have to be one of the greatest bands of all time, even if progressive rock isn't your thing.I'll warn you though, their really old stuff (a saucer full of secrets, etc.) is an acquired taste. Oddly enough in late 80's Voivod resurrected some of this style on "nothingface" (my main exposure to this band), so there is still an audience. With the exception of country and pop, I have a very wide appreciation of music, from say Mozart to Slayer, so depending on your personal tastes, so naturally your opinions could wildly vary from mine. Draco1962
Most of the Sid Barrett stuff was kind of "other worldly" for the time. As he slid into the depths of his depression and other mental ills, it was apparent in the music style. While Roger Waters gets a lot of credit for being the driving force for The Wall, the albumn and his drive would also push the band towards its eventual breakup. David Gilmour is my favorite band member and IMO ranks in the Top 10 Guitarists of all time.
tthurman
That's probably the best way I ever heard it described! In case you weren't aware, David Gilmour just released a new solo album. It's reviewing well.
