Finally made the jump to the 21st Century and bought a Smartphone

The bloat on them is nearly unbearable, but I never rooted my Bludnerbolt. I had this crazy thought that HTC might actually release something that made it the phone it was supposed to be. In all likelihood it probably would have ran better rooted! If I updated Blockbuster, Slacker Radio etc. etc. once, I did it a hundred times. -
Ah 3D BIOS is Gigabytes name for UEFI. I've never been involved in any type of overclocking in UEFI, I would think it would be much more straight forward though. It's unfortunate the EasyTune isn't working better for you. Perhaps after you set the frequency on the memory to 1600, it may be worth another go.

Yep, got an APU on my laptop, works great. That's cool that you can run that in a cross fire type setting, didn't know that was possible! It is not unusual for your memory to be clocked lower than advertised, I've got some Patriot memory that does the same thing, but works as advertised when manually set to the supported speed. This is typically done to ensure compatibility. You can go into your BIOS and manually set the memory frequency to 1600, and while your in there verify your timings are correct. I believe your memory is 9-9-9-24, and that your voltage is properly set to 1.5 volts (these values are supplied to the motherboard by the memory, and should be already correct) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820161452 You "may" have to relax these settings when you go to overclocking, or they could work fine At standard clocking though, there is no reason you would not want to run them full out.

Hah, my wife held out completely until she missed some connecting flights on the way to Italy a few years ago. She went from no phone, ever, at 43 to having me fire up my old BB Tour as soon as she got home. Verizon will drive you nuts pushing updates to all their apps, which I rarely, if ever used. If you got a bunch of stuff on the home page you don't like, just press the icon and hold it until it hovers, then slide it over to a lesser used screen and let go. My contacts syne with our exchange server, so I've never had to manually do this. If you don't have this luxury, or burden, you'll probably want to strongly consider using your gmail account. Obviously the apps you use will be dependent on your interests, but there are tons of free ones. I used a local TV stations weather app, that I believe is simply a shell used by many local stations. You might want to check you local TV stations first that if you want a weather app, I found the weather channel one to be terrible in comparison. There are some pretty good pinball apps with a couple tables that are free. Great time killers if you're stuck somewhere with nothing to do I saw a really cool app at a party last night that used the camera, hold it up to the sky and it showed constellations and planets that were in the viewing field. Didn't bother to get the name though, they moved us to iphones early in the year. -
Some of Marty's new stuff would make for some good shootemup tunz too! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bTzDR4HdbKI

Sounds like good shmupper music no doubt!

I think the top two side arts much improved of the first round you posted, and I can see how some would think the previous marquee was busy. The new one does have a cleaner look without the mass grouping of logos at the hands/claws. The bottom side art isn't bad, but I don't care for it nearly as much. I just prefer the original look, vs. the Prometheus based version. I don't think the first round look rushed, but your tweaking has produced better results, the contrasting text really jumps out. my .02

Good point, and pretty much what my gut feeling was telling me. I've seen so many power supply problems, that I can't help but think that's it, but better safe than sorry. I had been digging though ebay for one that didn't look like it'd been thru hellnback, and just grabbed it after your post. Coming from central-ish FL, should be here in pretty short order, fingers crossed it looks as good as the pics!

Something else, I notice you mentioned Easytune, so I'm guessing you have a Gigabyte board. If so, did you check for a newer version on Gigabyte's website. The version included on the disk is often out dated by the time the board is installed. What do you mean by BIOS that's made for it, is this a third party BIOS, or are you simply implying that your motherboard was designed with overclocking in mind? Have you the most current Gigabyte BIOS already installed for your motherboard? If not, I would recommend you update that first, then grab the latest easytune, if you haven't already. The last time I used easytune it had a quickboost tuning page that had three automatic overclock options, the first being a marginal overclock up to the last which was an aggressive overclock. <edit> I'm guessing a later revision of EasyTune may have added support for more memory manufacturers and/or specific tweak fixes. As Dazzle and Stigzler touched on, everyone's hardware is a bit different, even when it's the same, and some minor voltage tweaking one way or the other is often the key to a successful overclock. I worked with some friends on overclocking, and notice that some seem to overclock with little effort, while others take a lot more effort with little return.

You actually manually moved the registry entries using regedit? I just double clicked the attachment, and let it do its thing.

Years ago my wife bought me an XBox for Christmas. I stil lthink that for sports games that consoles just can't be beat. I couldn't tell you how many hours I logged with Madden on my Super NES! Anyway, we played NFL Fever quite a lot, that is until she got a few snow days to practice, and suddenly I was getting pwned! Moving on, soon the system was moved to my room, and to say it only saw light use would be an understatement, under 200 hours total easy. One day I went to fire it up, and nothing. I did open it up, nothing looks fried, and no caps bulging, but the power supply on the 1.4 models was known to blow a specific part that rendered them useless. I can't remember the part name, but it's a round disk shaped part that serves somewhat to protect from surges. Apparently this part is used in many electronics, namely cheap surge protectors, but I was unable to source one locally, and so it has sat. I am a stickler for power protection, and all my equipment is plugged into TrippLite ISOBars or an APC equivalant, and or a sine wave UPS by the same two companies, so considering nothing else was lost, I do not believe a surge was the problem. I convinced that XBox emulation is still a long way from happening, so chance it and grab a new supply, or pick up a working unit of ebay? http://secure.llamma.com/catalog/oem-xbox-1215-power-supply-us110v-llamma-select-minebea-p-490.html?osCsid=525015cc7d3c8aa6da4889758d1aa540

Make your cooler really pay off buy getting the best thermal interface material. I've sworn by Artic Silver 5 for years, and it's still better than some of the cheap stuff that comes pre-packaged with the heatsinks, but there are better ones than AS5 on the market now, and perhaps most importantly, ones that don't take repeated on off cycles to set, and achieve optimal conductivity. I continue to use it only because it is laying around, accuried from numerous buids I've done over the years for myself and others. It's amazing how much "stuff" you can accumulate! The ArticSilver ArtiClean is for real, and I highly recommend it. 90% and abve rubbing alcohol works well too, but I believe the ArtiClean works a bit better.

That's attention to detail that I don't recall seeing anybody else do, I like it! 240V at 50Hz is such a different animal to soak up, for me anyway. Makes me not feel so badly about my lacking understanding of the whole -48V scene! Nice touch man!

Thread has grown quite diverse, in a good way of course! The price of admissioin was most certainly well worth it

I have previously obtained the latest Extras set. Directory structure looks essentially the same with the exception of the older videos you note. Finally, a need for them after all these years of keeping them current

Finally started moving files over to the computer to get this rolling, and followng the advice given here, went ahead and loaded 13.26. I think I mentined somewhere that first tried GameEx five or so years ago, as part of the trials of front ends and various computer builds. All I can say is WOW, this is an entirely different beast. I surfed through all of the themes, and currently have 2084 by RageOn selected, but there are many others I like too. Talos I really liked too, but for some reasone I'm getting overlapping scrolling text at the bottom right hand side, perhaps from a update since Stgzler desgined it. I also spent a considerable amount of time in the Themes and Graphics section yesterday, there's a lot to soak up in there! I had originally planned to simply use a full set, mostly for ease of set management, but seeing how I plan to use emumovies, this doesn't seem to be a good plan. I would hate for that to pull down everythng requred for a full set. Due to this I suppose I will start hand picking an initial set of fav's, and add on the hidden gems down the road. Anyway, I can't tell you how impressed I was with how GameEx has matured. Looks like I have a lot more of a learning curve ahead than I originally thought!

Nothing like a sweet looking guitar! Those prices are good. I couldn't bring myself to sell the guitars, but I really need to get them out and give them a good cleaning, and re-stringing. You lose it fast though, or at least I did, I can still play the cords no problem, but any kind of cohesiveness just isn't there anymore. This thread has got me to wondering if I took the 9 volt battery out of them The move to the new house ended the garage days which = no room for massive space gobbling drum kit. That made the selling decision for them a bit easier. Cool stuff!
-
as well as some wanna be's I played for probably close to 12 years before dropping it for drums. Funny, I sold my drums about 10 years ago, but still have my JCM 900 half stack, one Washburn with a wonderbar, and a Charvel (Do they even make these things anymore?) That wonderbar was hell if you tried to use it as a wammy, but man it holds tune after some vicious treatment!

Hi Cliff! What an amazing bass player!!! Pulling Teeth Too bad Metallica put out such crap videos in the early days. And Steve Harris too, geez just crazy the way he made plucking the fat strings look so easy!

Some great work in this thread!
