    Mame issues

Hi there, I wondered if anyone could help me. I have just put Gameex in my arcade cab. Instead of using mame32 I decided to you standard mame (mame.exe) because I can use the compiler to get rid of the messages. However I am not sure what command-line options to put into GameEx to get it to run. The arcade monitior can display anything up to 640x480 (anything more and I get an out of range message). I can get Gameex to run but when it runs a game it looks like it closes the gameex windows then it reappears again .Or I get and out of range message. I think I need the command-line for stretch resolution to fit maybe but I dont know what it is. If there is anyone out there with a similar setup could you please let me know how you have yours set up. Thanks J.
  2. Fair Play Tom . You got me.
  3. Did you manage to find a workaround for this. I have the same problem aswell. I use an X-arcade and the third button is set to (space). Thanks J.
  4. Congrats Tom. I remember following you over here from when it was originally on Yahoo Groups! (Cant remember what my old user name was though?) Keep up the good work. J.
  5. I dont think the -ctrlrxarcade command works when using mame32 just standard mame. If you are using mame32 open it up. Go to options, then Default game options. Click on the controller tab then where it says Default input layout select xarcade. Apply this and then quit mame32. You should now be able to use your X-Arcade in GameEx. J.
  6. Works like a charm. Will this work with each full release from mame.net or will it require a new patch. Thanks J.
  7. I would like to have multiple rom folder options for emulators. I.E. Pick a console from the 'Emulator Selection Screen' then get given a choice of which folder of roms you would like to go into. I have tried explaining what I mean underneath. I think this would be very cool. -Snes --Japan --USA --Europe --Hacks e.t.c. Rather than have the console set up 3+ times in the emulator selection screen. Or putting all your roms in the same folder. I like to keep the regions separate. I would vote for Custom control panel viewer. J.
  8. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year People. Maybe 2007 will be the year that my cab materialises and stops being plans in my head. Have a good one J.
  9. Pressing F1 ingame gets rid of the cross hairs. I am not sure of a way of doing this on a permanent basis though. There must be a way though I would of thought. J.
  10. lingpanda. Did you find that 1.7 is better than 1.6. I am assuming you are using the Beta version. I had terrible problems with it and have just reverted back to 1.6. I would wait for the official release. J.
  11. Hi Firebrand X, I dont use this emulator but I do have a modded Saturn (PAL). I had a load of US isos and I changed all the regions to PAL with this. It works instantly and without fault. This should save you having to change the region at all. So you can just set it to one BIOS and leave it. http://www.racketboy.com/retro/2005/05/new...on-patcher.html Hope it works for you and keep up the good work on Valhalla. I downloaded it and it kicks ass. J.

    Atari Jaguar

There is only a limit if you are inputting each of your emulator configs from the GameExConfig. You can add as many as you like if you type them directly into the GameEx.ini file (This is in GameEx\Config\gameex.ini). I currenttly have about 50 setup. But this is due to wanting different regions roms separate from each other (Example one for Japanese Snes roms, one for U.S.A. snes roms) Any emulators added after 28 will not show on the advanced emulator config though. So if there are any amendments needed you will have to close down GameEx, change the .ini file and restart to see if your changes have worked. Lastly you may find after an update the order your emulators are listed in the .ini file may have moved (Normally pushed to the bottom, but sometimes put in a non-numerical way.) This dosent affect the order they are listed when using GameEx or the way they function. Hope that made sense. J.

    Key to Joy?

Thanks for your reply Emph, I have only just seen it. Unfortunately I still cant get this to work. I understand what your saying I just cant get the Virtua Tennis config to display the virtual joystick. This is what I have done . Can you see if you can spot a mistake anywhere. I first open up the Parallel Port Joystick option in the Control Panel. I Then Press add a virtual joystick (on the option that says Parallel Port and change it to Virtual Joystick. Default is LPT 1) Once that is done I go to Joytokey and make sure it is switched to virtual joystick 1. I then configure all the buttons on the X-Arcade, Save the .ini and minimise the program. But when I open the Virtua Tennis config it only allows me to choose the keyboard? The virtual joystick does not show. If anyone has any clue as to what I am doi6ng wrong please tell me as I am losing hair over this. Cheers J. P.S. I am sure I have setup the virtual joystick properly because it shows as a Game Controller on the Control Panel Also I have tested the buttons and they are working.?!?!?!?

    Key to Joy?

Hi Headkaze, I wondered if you could explain a bit further about how you set up Virtua Tennis. I have setup a virtual joystick but when I try to find it in the Virtua Tennis config it dosent show. What type of joystick (virtual) did you setup to use. Cheers J. P.S. Emph I have an X-Arcade (2P) too. How did you get around Virtua Tennis not recognising Left Alt on the keyboard mapping for Player 1. Hope that makes sense.

    freedowrapper

I have attached a zip file containing freedo, wrapper and the cfg file. Open the cfg file in notepad, amend the path to wherever the emulator is on your computer and make sure the GameEx config is EXACTLY the same as the one I posted earlier in this thread. If this dosent work then I am not sure why. Maybe if you are using a back-up iso then it maybe a bad image. One last thing Freedo requires a bios image to run properly. Google fz10_bios.rom and you should find what you are looking for. J. freedo.zip

here is my config. 17. Download a nd unzip this into your mame folder. This works with most games. http://www.mameworld.net/highscore/download.htm J.
  18. O.K. sorry for the late reply infrared. I have just figured out how to do the renaming of these screenshot packs. Firstly download the screenshot packs from here http://no-intro.dlgsoftware.net/main.php?modulo=seccion&id=9 Secondly download their Image Renamer from here. http://no-intro.dlgsoftware.net/main.php?modulo=seccion&id=6 This uses romcenter GOODXXXX dats they are available here. http://www.romcenter.com/. Once you have downloaded a pack unzip it. Then open up the image renamer and click on the CRC-> romcenter tab. Point the first option at your dat file and the second one at the screenshot folder. Then click start. Also when you unzip a typical screenshot pack it will look something like this. -Bandai_WonderSwan_20060107 +Bandai WonderSwan <--POINT THE IMAGE RENAMER AT THIS FOLDER. +snaps +titles. If none of this makes sense then there is a readme with the app. that will point you in the right direction. J.
  19. I have just found this site. Should be of use to anyone using the no-intro dats. http://no-intro.dlgsoftware.net/main.php I havent looked at it much but it looks like a pretty good resource. J.
