  1. Arrgghhh - downloaded the update today (I think I went from 11.41 to current), and now my GameEx lags again (I had a major lagging problem previously, and it took me a long time changing different settings (and a RAM upgrade) to get it right.) I've disabled the weather option, but what else is new that could be chewing up additional resources? Can I undo the update??
  2. I had the same problem - all of my videos are .flv. Downloaded Shark007's codecs, problem solved.!
  3. You sir, are a genius! That worked perfectly, and now a user can readily identify the games that are going to flip screens - mission accomplished. One question - I have a lot of clones in my .ini file, and I was expecting GameEx to filter them (filter is enabled and it filters other lists). It doesn't - it just displays everything. No big deal, but was wondering why that was?
  4. Thanks for that! I'm out of town for a few days, but looking forward to getting home and trying to get this set up! Appreciate all your help!
  5. Not sure what you mean by this??
  6. Hmmm, well that didn't work, but I think it may have to do with where I have the file (??). Here's what I've done - added a new .bmp file to my LOGOS folder for the theme I'm using and called it 'Cocktail Gmaes'. Saved the .ini file to my Mame folder (the same folder mame.exe sits) and called it 'Cocktail Games'. In basic Mame settings, I've set the 'Custom Lists Path' to the Mame folder (as above), and I've set the 'Favorites File' to the Cocktail Games.ini file. I go back into GameEx but it doesn't appear in any of the menu lists. Where have I gone wrong??
  7. Hey thanks a lot for that. Just so I'm clear - I can put the .ini file anywhere (I'll put it in my MAME directory) and just point the Custom Menu setting to it in the GameEx config?? With the logo I put in my themes logo folder - how does GameEx know where it is and that is needs to use it?? And what should appear on the menu ie how does GameEx know the name of the menu line? Potentially silly questions....sorry about that! Thanks again
  8. Lol welcome to my world! Use the Blue whatever it's called Theme, that's the only one I could get it in. You'll see it on the left hand side when you pull up the Emulators menu.
  9. Oh ok thanks - I didn't hit go because I was concerned it was going to run for 2 days! Did you get my email by the way?
  10. Right, I can see it in that theme as well. Question - I thought it only looked for missing snaps and created them? Seems to me it wants to create snaps for ALL games?
  11. Thanks - I need you! PM sent!
  12. No - it doesn't appear for me in anything (nor for others apparently). Is it appearing for you? And I'd be happy to get them on a per-game basis, but the problem is I don't have a way of filtering which ones are missing.
  13. It would an excellent enahncement - some of the Mame bezels look fantastic - it's a shame to be wasting them.
  14. Yeah the option is there, I had a look at it last night - the problem is that it creates videos for ALL games, not just the missing ones (and takes about 2 days to run!). I'm only missing about 1% videos and snaps, so this option is not particularly viable. That's why the Create Snaps option appealed - it only creates the missing snaps - perfect. So any update on where the option has disappeared to?
  15. I didn't know that option was there either? If it was (and it worked), it would solve a few issues.
  16. I've been using an external HDD to set up my GameEx install - just makes it easier for me to move it between PC's and tinker. Now I'm nearly ready to install it on the HDD of the PC in the cab, so have installed a clean version of GameEx onto the PC and made sure my directory structure etc is correct - what files/folders do I need to copy across from the external HDD to ensure my config settings are maintained? Thanks
  17. Outstanding - sounds like exactly what I need, and not too difficult to achieve. I'm still working my way through the list, changing dipswitches and testing the games (it's amazing how many there are that you change the dipswitch, and it does nothing!), but within a couple of days I'll be ready to put my .ini file together. Thanks
  18. Thanks for that Adultery - you kinda lost me half way through, but I get the idea that I can do it. Ok, here's what I understand - I have a txt file with the rom names of the games I want in the list. I just re-save this an an .ini file?? Where do I put it - does it matter? I point GameEx at it in the Custom Folders part of the MAME setup (I'm a bit lost here, but I don't have GameEx in front of me, so it might make more sense when I get home and look at the Config). What about the roms themselves - do I need to move them to a separate folder?? Ok, then I can get a generic icon, call it the same name as my .ini file, and put it in the themes LOGO folder? (I understand how to do this, I'm just not entirely sure what I'm doing.....) How does it know where to display on the screen? All going well I'll then have an item (icon) in my theme that when I go to it, it will display a list of the games in the .ini file? Am I right with the parts I semi-understand? Thanks
  19. Thanks - I was assuming that they were drawing from the game categories, but was hoping it wouldn't be too difficult to just point the menu item to a different list (ie the list I create). Even if that means moving the roms that's no problem. But as you said, I'll defer to the gurus on this one!
  20. That makes me feel a bit better - I thought I was going mad not being able to see it!
  21. I've put together a list of games for my cocktail cab for which I've reset the dipswitch so the screen flips for Player 2. I thought it would make sense to have these games in a separate menu list so that users know exactly which games they can play in this format. A couple of options - ideally I'd like to replace one of the existing lists that I don't use (ie MultiPlayer Games or something like that) with my list of 'Cocktail Games' (is that option possible?). Alternatively, I figured I might have to delve into Custom Menus to get my desired result. I've searched through the threads, but can't find a guide to working with Custom Menus - does one exist? Thanks
  22. Yep done that - thanks - definitely enabled, that's why I couldn't understand why I couldn't see it in the menus. Looking in the wrong place probably part of the problem......
  23. Hmmm, ok I'll have another look. Like I said, I changed a few themes, but admittedly I was looking in the wrong place - I was looking where the games are listed - not where Change View etc are. Thanks
  24. So does that mean the bottom rom of my list of games (ie all MAME games) ? After Z? It's not there, not on the bottom row of anything, and I've changed themes a few times to make sure I wasn't missing it.
  25. I've made some good progress with this - I've got CFG Magician to change the dipswitch settings, and create a bunch of new CFG files. So far, so good - but even though I move the newly created CFG files into my MAME/cfg folder, when I go into the game and check the settings, the Dipswitch has not been changed (even though I can see in the new CFG file that it HAS been changed). When I exit the game, the CFG file has been overwritten. I must be missing a simple step? Anyone had a similar issue?
