  1. Damn it I missed it. I love RTS games. EDIT: Oops... not an RTS but turned based. Still looks like I would have loved this. I may just drop the $7 on it anyway.
  2. Holy crap... 6 games I didn't own on Steam! 🤣
  3. Based on this I would **think** that you have 2 good M.2 channels and the third overlaps with the SATA channels. I’d hazard a guess that they recognized this and have updated the boards with more compatibility. Just my unscientific $0.02. EDIT: at worst you just test it when you get it. It certainly won’t hurt. The BIOS won’t recognize the drives if it’s not compatible.
  4. Check the motherboard specifications. Most motherboards still disable SATA if a 2nd M.2 slot is filled - but not always. It's a little weird. The 2nd M.2 slot usually overlaps with the SATA/PCI channels. I'm not saying this well but here's one article on this I read recently: https://www.techoverwrite.com/m-2-nvme-disabling-sata-ports/
  5. I hadn't seen this until now (gotta love 3rd shift) but I bought from XoticPC and, although it was a bit high, I would buy from them again without hesitation. Customer service was fabulous.
  6. Never heard of this one. Will have to check it out.
  7. This was inevitable even before COVID the quality dropoff was noticeable. I think COVID just gave the major companies the excuse they needed to quit going without looking like they were the "jackass company" for breaking the show.
  8. I have been meaning to get the light gun running on my arcade. I just never seem to be able to muster up the drive to do it. I have an Ultimarc AimTrak Light Gun from like 2 years ago but it's been sitting in the bottom drawer of the cabinet. I think I remember giving it a half-assed attempt when I bought it... I just remember feeling like it was annoying. Just can't remember the specifics of WHY it was annoying this far out. I would love one of the Sinden Guns just to be more "modern proof" - and new tech is cool as hell - but there's no way I can justify(see what I did there?) buying one with the AimTrak just collecting dustbunnies. It doesn't help that the one game I think I wanted it for is Virtua Cop. One game out of the entire cabinet library just isn't motivating enough. At some point though... I just gotta.
  9. No I missed the link you posted. I assumed it was for the YouTube clip! As for the actual video from the tweet I had seen that a while ago and still am impressed with the engineering involved. It made my list of things to do with lottery winnings as well!
  10. Wow... $1.9 mil on a $50,000 goal (based on the budget setup not the $5,000 goal at the top of the screen). A lot of people really want it to happen. It looks like a great solution for a smaller business server or large home storage/streamer/hobby space. This is actually a cool project that I WANT but have absolutely zero NEED for. *sigh*
  11. Either that was misunderstood or I said it wrong. GoG has most definitely not done that. I am looking at my account right now and Unreal Gold, for example, is still available to download but they don't sell it anymore. Sorry! I'll try and explain myself better. I do not use GoG Galaxy so when I go get a game I don't use their front end. I like GoG because when I download the game I download the whole game. It's not just an installer that relies on their server to be up and running. There's no files that reside on their side I will no longer have access to if they decide to get rid of anything. When you download it, you get everything. On my PS3, for example, if they decide to shut down their servers even for people that already purchased a game how would I get it?
  12. Never actually noticed that before!
  13. And this is why I support GoG. I have stuff they no longer carry but I downloaded it at the time of purchase. I have it saved on my PC as well as both of my backups. GoG games will never disappear. As for the rest I stand by my statement. Every company is literally a cost-saving decision away from not selling it anymore but still allowing you to download it again to not even being able to download it anymore because it costs us money to maintain the data and hardware. No thanks.
  14. And this is why I absolutely refuse to buy digital downloads.
  15. I've had that Power Center for at least 25 years. I'm pretty sure I got it when I got my first PC in 1991 but I'm not positive. All I know is it has outlasted one marriage and it is outpacing my current marriage.
  16. I had to go find the post for the details. It's in the basement right now and I'm too lazy to go check at 3:00 am! It's a Sunfounder 10.1" LCD. They're about $135-$150 new so I was keeping an eye on eBay for a used one. They always seemed to go for $80-$100 used. Back in July I found one for $100. The title clearly was generic as it stated "(Pi not included)" but the pictures were not generic. They clearly showed a Pi4 attached. I took a shot. So for $120 shipped I received a Sunfounder LCD, Pi4 2GB and a 32GB SD card. Excellent deal. I added a $25 battery bank so it would be truly portable. I wouldn't have to worry about plugging in the wall wart that came with it. It has become a centerpiece for when I go out on calls but not in the way I ever intended... I do take it with me but I rarely need it for testing (but when I do need it I'm glad I have it). See, I left the Pi4 attached and added 2 of the SNES-style USB controllers I had lying around from other projects. Now it's a 2nd portable RetroPi setup. The battery bank powers everything for HOURS. It's a great conversation piece while we're waiting for Windows to re-install, that driver to download, kids getting riled up with a stranger in the house or when a client is just being ultra-fidgety. It has become that "distraction tool" and "dead air conversation filler" I never knew I needed. Image is from the initial setup back in July. I have the battery mounted to the back with double-sided velcro. I use a Playstation Messenger bag from my gaming collection to transport it around.
  17. I wasn't looking for anything this fancy but I did purchase a portable monitor for my PC repair business. Knowing I have a working connectable device helps quite a bit when working in a customer's home. I don't see a need for a touchscreen portable monitor this big when I can just buy a tablet. I can see uses but this screams to me "I have more money than sense".
  18. Yeah... all that.
  19. Why? Are they releasing a 1-UP Atari 2600 E.T. cabinet?
  20. Exactly. If they put these cabs on Clearance I have planned on picking up one and throwing my Pi4 in it. It's just not happening.
  21. The desire has definitely been sated for the general market. We're sitting on a ton of these in our backroom at work (Walmart) and haven't sold ANY - not one - in months. I'm still waiting for corporate to drop the price so we can get rid of them. There's a PacMan One-Up machine we've had on the floor for 2 years. The inventory tag is from January 2021. Box is perfect but no one wants it.
  22. Hey when the cancer finally catches up with me I'd rather go this way playing - what else? - SKYRIM SPECIAL EDITION VR ++ NOW WITH NEW HORSE SMELL RE-RELEASE 5! Screaming "Fus Ro Dah" the whole way down the dragon's gullet!! Sidenote - I don't have cancer but it runs in my family heavily.
  23. I love all the old footage.
  24. I have had my deck for about a month now and I think it is OK for Steam games. A bit underpowered for current games but I enjoy it. Most of my library on Steam was free or Humble Bundle cheapness and nothing is newer than last year at best. I have played Skyrim SE, Bookworm, Plants vs Zombies, Worms Armageddon, Defender's Quest, Memoir '44, The Four Kings Casino and Slots and Talisman Digital Edition with no issues. Unfortunately Ticket to Ride will not let me log in at all so all you can play is solo games. I installed EmuDeck and have had great success with the emulation through Dreamcast. PS2 is still too spotty to call good. I installed Emulation Station on top of EmuDeck and added it to my Steam library so it's integrated pretty well - looks like it belongs in the game list! Last night I installed Bottles and used that to install Ur-Quan Masters v.0.8.0. It has an option to add it to the Non-Steam menu but it will not launch from there. You have to go into Desktop mode and then launch it from Bottles. Beyond that hiccup it runs flawlessly. (UQM has linux installers but they are outdated and just didn't work for me hence the WIN installation.) I am exceptionally impressed with the Steam Deck overall. I just wish it had a longer battery life. Some games drain the hell out of it. For that reason alone I'm STILL not ready to retire my PSP 1000 yet! Someone get Todd Howard on the phone and tell him to get off his ass and release the PSP port of Skyrim to us!! Damn it! 🤣
  25. So am I... I'm just not as fun!
