  1. Well it was tongue in cheek but yeah. What happened to the cabinet and stick if I may ask? That was a nice setup.
  2. Wow... wonder if he'd trade?
  3. Three classic Star Trek games come to GOG.comOh yeah! Already got them and loving the retro goodness!
  4. I personally use the Tankstick. There was also someone on Atari Age who modded the Tankstick and added spinners. I'll see if I can find the thread. EDIT: here's the thread: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/198308-x-arcade-mod-with-spinners/?p=2527386 In addition to the Tankstick I also use a USB hub and have the 2600-apter, Vision-dapter, RetroUSB NES adapter and a Dual PSX Adapter so I can use original controllers wherever possible. Here's the link to my build. The monitor and PC have been upgraded but the rest is still the same including all adapters: http://www.gameex.info/forums/topic/66-cabinets-and-htpc-setups-running-gameex/?p=86880
  5. They have Funhouse and Cyclone but I would really love to see them find or have someone donate a working Phantom of the Opera. Used to love playing it.
  6. And they have both videos playing on a perma-loop over each machine in the arcade itself. The Shoot the Bear machine is on display only - can't play it - but the Sea Skate in the kiddie area looks to be fully operational and you can see wear and tear on it since it was restored. EDIT: I found a video of Gary Vincent from a PAX East interview. It's an inept interview (apologies to whomever did it) but that's the guy!
  7. That's the normal state of Funspot on low-tourist weeks. During the summer, foliage and skiing months the place is usually busy or packed depending on the time of day. My vacation week is always this time of year (time share) so I always have run of the place when I go. The downside is they're also not in a hurry to fix a machine that's down during the slow times either. Tons of games to play though! Here's their list of classics. Funspot has been open since 1952. Here's the blurb: Most of the time when you see something like this you think "Yeah... the guy still goes there everyday... and I'm Superman (or Wonder Woman. I'm not sexist!)" but I do actually see Bob Lawton almost every time I visit. The day before I took all the pictures I went to hang out for the day - and dropped $60 for tokens - and Bob was there supervising an arcade placement as well as plans for the new party center layout. If he wasn't so busy I'd have introduced myself. I did have a nice conversation with Gary who runs the ACAM section and volunteers at the Bingo center that's on site. Very nice guy! He has a passion for classics we can all appreciate but he's the only guy that centers on the classics. Incidentally that's why there's no tournament this year. He said it's always just him planning, setting up, inviting guests, doing the press releases, etc. that he couldn't do it this year. It was getting to be too much. Kind of sad but I know how he feels. It took four of us 8 months a year to plan and execute PhillyClassic when we ran it. That's a lot of work for one person to have to do alone.
  8. Funspot Photobucket Album
  9. Yupyup!
  10. If I don't agree with anything anyone says for the rest of the year I will always agree with this. Sad but true...
  11. The family's at www.Funspotnh.com , Weirs Beach, Laconia, New Hampshire! (Damn that's a lot of commas)

Sorry for the late reply. Really cool pics GMR ! Thanks for sharing :)

  12. I attempted to do the update automatically and manually from the download page. Both times it looked like the update went through then when I restarted GameEx the system told me there was un update available. I rebooted and ran through both ways again but it still insists there is an update. Will try again tomorrow just in case.
  13. I hate to admit it but that's exactly what I did... so bad...
  14. OK I found a way to get the theme to display right. Not sure why it worked but it did. I tried your solution Tom and deleted the cached files. It didn't help. I tried minimizing and re-expanding the window. No help. I then tried to cycle through <Change View> until I came full circle. That worked. Not sure why though. Bug maybe? I'm not a programmer so no idea. I did install "OfflineGameManualInstall.exe" from the download page and it didn't do anything BUT... I also figured out the problem with the Ghostscript manual viewer. If anyone has a problem in the future check your log.txt file. I saw this: The default install path was C:\Program Files (x86)\gs\gs9.16\bin\ and was the 64 bit version so it couldn't find the exe. So I downloaded the 32 bit version then renamed the directory to "gs" rather than "gs9.16": Works fine now. You just need to be sure if you download it manually it is installed to "\gs\gs\" and not the default. Thanks everyone!
  15. Will give it a go this weekend. I installed Gohostscript as suggested from another support post when I did a Forum search. Is there something else used to install?
  16. Ooh if you come across the KB update number please share! So here's where I'm at after 5 hours of nothing but GameEx... I just started over from scratch... * I went in and uninstalled GameEx from "Uninstall a Program". * Then I removed the directory and all files. * I completed every single update avcailable for Windows 8 (except the %$^# Skype app they keep wanting to give me) and rebooted. * I downloaded the installer again and installed. - I noticed while installing there's no option to install the PDF viewer Ghostscript. More on that later * Ran through the Setup Wizard and installed with Blue LCD theme. Runs fine now. Not sure what was wrong in the first place. * Installed Shark007 to play the videos. That's working now. I have 2 issues left to smooth over that I can't figure out: * I can see TXT manuals but not PDF manuals. I downloaded and installed Ghostscript 9.16 and it's still not working. * The themes aren't displaying correctly but I am positive it's a switch I am missing because it is consistent. See video below from YouTube. You'll notice I don't get the proper graphics until I drill down to the system itself.
  17. Bah... Still gives me issues. I've also uninstalled it completely and reinstalled it. Not sure what I'm doing wrong at this point. New copies of the log attached. log Intel.txt log nVidia.txt
  18. Nope. I never even thought this would be an issue. I'm downloading it now. I didn't have that set either. I set it up as Administrator and once I install the Net 4.5.1 I'll give it a shot again! Thanks to you both. Will update once I'm done.
  19. I'm setting up my new gaming laptop. I installed GameEx and I can't get anything to work. Backstory - I did have Space Invaders HD theme running for a few minutes but it was the only theme that was even working. It didn't display a lot of the graphics however. Now it won't load no matter what theme I try. I have 7 loaded and they're all downloaded from the website. Nothing that installed with GameEx would even start. Now it won't even get that far. Here's my MSI GT70 Dominator laptop specs: Processors Core i7 4800MQ 2.7 GHz Operating System Windows 8.1 Memory 8 GB DDR3L SDRAM Storage 1024 GB 7200 rpm Graphics Coprocessor NVIDIA Geforce GTX870M I also have the option to force to either graphics adapter. I've used the Intel 4600 onboard and the GeForce. No difference. Attached are my logs. log Intel.txt log nVidia.txt GameEx.ini
  20. Ah! That's the stuff!
  21. I AM THERE!
  22. Thanks.. you just made me buy a copy.
  23. Mmmmm #2... *drool*
  24. 7th Guest, X-Com UFO Defense, Scorched Earth, Dark Legions, Pool of Radiance, Star Control II, Darklands, One Must Fall 2097, Magic: The Gathering (if you can get it running right is still the best MTG card game available), Prince of Persia... this could take a while... Check out www.abandonia.com or www.bestoldgames.net. And there's a ton more sites just like those that promote abandonware.
  25. I loved the SNES version of Sim City. Though I have to admit it's the only Maxis game I know of off the top of my head... Well... after looking at the Wikipedia listing it's the only one I would have been interested in anyway.
