  1. I don't know if it's looking quite like Hyperspin yet. The flashing lights and loud noises have not yet caused me to have an epileptic seizure. I kid, I kid! Those guys do fine work over there! Much respect HS crew. In all seriousness though the ingenuity you're putting into this theme is highly impressive Krak! Keep up the great work. Just out of curiosity, is it possible to display additional game images using this technique? (boxes, game logos, etc?)
  2. That did the trick! Thanks Tom! Everything is looking perfect on my setup. Now I'm off to mess around with some wrappers. Thanks again!
  3. Oh! Awesome! Of Course! Thanks for the tip Tom!
  4. Whoa! Hold up a sec. If you need some gifted donations to support your development effort (which is for the good of all GameEx users), just say the word!
  5. This is so cool! All the text markup that I can see has been addressed and displays correctly. The game info looks awesome. Only weird peccadillo is that Monkey Island 2: Special Edition is still not displaying. All the other previously missing games are now displaying. The log seems to detect it correctly: 20:45:00.6 9/5/2012: Found: e:\\steam\\steamapps\\common\\monkey2 but the game does not display in the list. Thanks again Tom. This is really cool! Edit: I wonder if it's because the 'official' Steam name for this game has a lot of weird markup in it? Monkey Island™ 2 Special Edition: LeChuck’s Revenge™
  6. I just noticed that although I've got the following games installed in Steam, they are missing from my Steam Games list in this build of GameEx. Let me know if I can provide any additional details. Crysis Grand Theft Auto III Grand Theft Auto IV Grand Theft Auto: Episodes From Liberty City Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Mafia Mass Effect Monkey Island 2: Special Edition
  7. It looks like there may still be some minor issues with markup characters in game titles and descriptions, but nothing like what Stu was showing above. Here's a copy of my log, although I'm not sure if you were looking for anything specific It's looking awesome Tom! Slowly but surely it's pulling down Steam artwork and descriptions. Now I just need to plug in some of Stu's wrappers (and draft a couple of my own). Can't wait to see the end result! Let me know if I can provide anything more additional data, or run any specific test scenarios.
  8. That's great news Tom! Thanks for implementing this change! I love it when our awesome Elite members receive this sort of perk for all the great things they do around here. Thanks Elite members! Happy Searching!
  9. Hi Tom. When I run this most recent build (with additional logging), I lose the Steam entry from my emulated games list. When I run the previous build the Steam entry is back.
  10. Yeah I'm also a real sucker for their sales. I've got way more in my account than I actually have installed. Here's what I currently have installed (minus any overlap from what you've listed above): Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY Edition Ben There, Dan That! Breath of Death VII Burnout Paradise The Ultimate Box Cthulhu Saves the World Deus Ex Game of the Year Edition Grand Theft Auto 2 Grand Theft Auto Episodes from Liberty City Grand Theft Auto III Grand Theft Auto IV Grand Theft Auto San Andreas Grand Theft Auto Vice City Half-Life 2 Episode One Half-Life 2 Episode Two Half-Life 2 Lost Coast Half-Life Source Mafia Mass Effect Monkey Island 2 Special Edition Portal Star Wars - Jedi Knight II Jedi Outcast Star Wars - Jedi Knight Mysteries of the Sith Star Wars Dark Forces Star Wars Jedi Knight Dark Forces II Star Wars Jedi Knight Jedi Academy The Binding Of Isaac The Elder Scrolls III Morrowind The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom The Secret of Monkey Island Special Edition Time Gentlemen, Please! I'll start checking some of these tonight. Hey just out of curiousity, what's your test method to determine the necessity of a wrapper? I'd imagine it's something like this: Does game have a loader or additional login process? Does game fail to launch the GameOverlayUI process when it starts? If the answer to either question is yes, the game requires a wrapper. Does that sound about right? Any other 'gotchas' that need to be accounted for?
  11. So did you get everything working to your satisfaction when both paths are configured properly?
  12. You could try PM'ing him over at BYOAC. Looks like he hasn't been active for a little over a month, but at least he's been active somewhat recently. Profile of Mr. Do
  13. Looks like your problems may run a bit deeper than GameEx. If I were to guess, you're not meeting the minimum .NET version requirement (or perhaps your .NET runtime environment is corrupt somehow). Please refer here to insure you're meeting the minimum system requirements for GameEx: Minimum Requirements If you appear to be meeting the minimum requirements in software and hardware, I'd look at reinstalling your .NET system components.
  14. That's a really good observation Adultery! In addition to Adultery's questions (which are more important to the immediate topic at hand), Is your machine displaying the correct date and time scrodamoon?
  15. Yeah stuff like this isn’t looking good: I really think some invalid information has crept into this build of GameEx (possibly as a result of the build process). It also seems to extend farther than we’re seeing in the GameEx.ini since the INI shows the proper (default) locations for catver.ini (and its brethren) whereas the log shows additional (and strange) locations on G:\ for catver.ini and the like. As we see in the INI G:\ is the DVD drive.
  16. Okie dokie. I have a suspicion that this may be something for Tom to look at. I notified him about this thread via PM. At this point we may just need to sit tight and wait for additional input from him. Edit: It’s a bit hard to say from the partial log above, but yeah, the provider listed for the GameBase databases also looks to be a bit suspect. I’m relatively sure Tom will have a magical solution for this issue.
  17. Here are the default locations for the specific files referenced in your log: CatverLocation=\DATA\catver.ini CPPATH=\DATA\controls.ini HistoryLocation=\DATA\history.dat nplayerslocation=\DATA\nplayers.ini CommandLocation=\DATA\command.dat InfoLocation=\DATA\mameinfo.dat You can double check these settings in your GameEx.ini located in the following directory by default: C:\GameEx\CONFIG\ I would search for the file names above (catver.ini, controls.ini, etc), and double check where they are pointing to. If they are pointed at a weird location (they are), you can change the locations to those I’ve listed above. Back up your GameEx.ini before making any changes! (I typically copy it and rename the copy to GameEx.BAK, but that’s just me). This may or may not be contributing to your error, but either way it’s certainly not helping. I’m also going to notify Tom about this thread. The G:\ directory listed in your log looks suspiciously like a Subversion build directory, and if you’re not attempting to do your own build of GameEx (pretty sure it would be impossible), then those locations may have slipped in inadvertently during Tom's build process.
  18. I can’t help but think that this is an excellent concept all around. I want to see/read this sequel! 2084: Join the Party. OK, returning to topic …
  19. I gotta ask, since I’ve been wondering. This line of your log is pretty odd: The line itself isn’t odd, it’s in all GameEx logs. The directory is what seems to be pretty odd. Have you specified the above directory as the location of catver.ini in your GameEx settings? Have you installed GameEx to a custom location? You’re not running GameEx though WINE or anything are you? And finally you’re not doing anything strange like running a test build of GameEx are you? Sorry about the deluge of questions! That directory thing has been bugging me since I first saw it last night.
  20. This log definitely shows what happened, but the reason why is not so readily apparent. So GameEx is detecting some sort of input and exiting Attract Mode. I’ll attempt to duplicate this when I get home tonight. In the meantime, I don’t suppose you can see if the same thing happens on a different machine? This may be a hardware issue?
  21. Great job getting the ball rolling on this one Stu! I’m pretty excited about the Steam Integration. I’m also planning on writing up some wrappers for my Steam games (although I’ll be using AHK, not that it matters much). It’s been a while since I written any scripts with AHK, but these scripts probably won’t be terribly complex. Let me know if you’d like to coordinate efforts for a two pronged attack.
  22. Your modifications are looking great RageOn. This theme is so slick! Has it got a name yet, or are you holding off on naming until the official release?
  23. Welcome back Tiki! Glad to hear that everything went so well (except for the Tankstick obviously, bit of a pity that). Looking forward to hearing the full review!
  24. That's definitely the log file. According to this log file, GameEx was running for a about 1 minute and 10 secs. It also doesn't show any glaring errors one might expect form an application crash. What was happening during the time that GameEx was running here? Did it look like GameEx was loading? Did the application seem to hang up somewhere? Maybe you wouldn't mind providing a bit more details related the the behavior you're observing?
  25. I think this is your motto, is it not? Totally kidding. Great job thinking outside the box! I'm really looking forward to seeing the fruits of your labor in this endeavor!
