For me, it turned out that I had swiched Emulators - like I made Emulator_4 a Gameboy Advance emu instead of a Gameboy Color. I selected a ROM from favorites and it launched a seperate EMU. If you have changed things up in the list, remove from favorites and re-add them. I wonder if it doesn't specify inside GameEx that it needs to run Emulator 4 ROM # 577 (if you can dig what I'm sayin) Anyways - remove and re-add. It should be all good from there. Hope that helps!

Easiest way for me was to set the controller up in ZSNES without running GameEx. Once ZSNES has it's configuration, GameEx will operate the way it should (since GameEx only launches the program, ZSNES will use the .ini file you set up previously) Might I mention - get acquanted with your F keys! (aka F1 F2 F3 etc) Hope that helps!

Definately an emulator setup section. Imagine how many fewer posts there would be on the board! If you need any help with Dreamweaver or whatnot, I'd be happy to help. Hell, I went to college for it! But I gotta say.... If there were a step by step for Emulators that would be awesome! I wouldn't have to tell people to use quotation marks in the command line once a week! Haha! I love GameEx and all 40 hours I dumped into setting it up. I'd love to help some other's out with guides or .cfg files or what have you to make it easier to use for those who have neither the patience or the ability to keep trying things until they work! Great idea Kaze! (By the way - the Soul Calibur theme still reigns supreme on my cab! Ha )

I use MAME32 and it's an exact port (more or less) to Windows. Basically, MAME32 is just a front end to MAME. You use either and they both do the exact same things. If you know how to use a command line pretty well, then use MAME. If you're more experienced with Windows, use MAME32 (the 32 on any program more or less means it's for windows.) If you want to use other ports (like MAMEFX, MAMEPlus! etc) they basically just add functionality to MAME. Example: MAMEplus! supports ROMs MAME doesn't, also adds functionality that originnal MAME authors nixed from the program - like the ability to skip the disclaimer. MAME or MAME32 are nice programs, but if you wanna tweak things a bit you'd be good checking out a different port. Hope that helps!

Same here. I just decided to try and get Model 2 running and it won't load any for me. It also starts in a window... WTF? Help a rookie out? Thanks.

Good lookin out. Thanks!

Okay. Quotes certainly need to be there so leave them in. I noticed your working path - is that the root folder for your emulator? Also, make sure the path you specified for ROMs is correct. If you're still having issues, try NEStopia and I'll give you a working .ini / .cfg file and tell you what you need to change to make it work. :EDIT: I'm setting up NesterJ right now. I'll see if I can get it working locally and post my settings for you. Hope that helps!

That would be pretty sweet!

Each time I update GameEx, I have a problem with the config file! Can someone break it down to me so I don't have to change my .ini file each time I update? *lookin in Tom's direction! * Emulators 7&8 get bumped to the bottom of the list and a whole bunch of things are all over the place... It's driving me slightly nuts! Any advice would be helpful! Thanks.
-
Ha! Interesting way of posting your configs. Easy solution: Command Line: nnnesterJ.exe "[ROMPath]\[RomFile]" Try that. I bet it gets your game started. Hope that helps.

Post your config file and we'll have us a look see.

GameEx is an emulator manager of sorts...
-
The setup sounds good to me - like eXo said though, I like it the way it is since my primary use is for games... not internet or multimedia. I use this app for my PC and my cab, so it'd be cool to have a different menu on the PC that's more computer friendly, but the cab's main objective is to play games. I figure we got us a pretty nice little FE to use (if not the best FE), and I'd hate to see it undergo any kind of reconstruction. Hard to fix something that's already working.
-
I can't figure it out... When I update, I lose emus 5-8 (all that's left is a blank line) and they appear down at the bottom of the .ini - but they don't work in GameEx. I have no idea why it does that, but I've learned to deal with it. I'd be interested in hearing it's something simple in the ini that I'm over-looking, but I got a feeling it's something I don't understand. * sorry I hijacked the thread *

The best way to make that happen is clrMAMEpro - which renames, reorganizes and deletes files within the zip you no longer need. It also maintains and corrects CHDs and checksums. The other great thing about that is you can get it to give you a list of the sets you're missing when updates come out. IMO, it's the best ROM manager available! Check it out. To answer the question, I think MAME is up around 5700 cabinets now. Hope that helps.

I usually just copy the GameEx config file to another directory and cut & paste the emulator info back into it (since for some reason every time I update I lose a chunk of my emulators... Seems like some sort of bug. My emulator options are different than the initial install, meaning the list is different than the one that originally comes with the program) If there's a better way I'd love to hear about it. Hope that helps!

Under your GameEx Easy Configuration: Select the Attract / Screensaver tab. In the Attract Mode Timer field, change the number to 0 to disable the screensaver. Hope that helps!

I haven't had any trouble with the actual BIOS - Have you downloaded the original system BIOS and placed it in the bios folder within the MESS root folder? Also, as far as Virtual Jaguar goes... I haven't had to load ROMs that way (use reset and all). All I have in the command line is this: vj.exe "[ROMPath]\[RomFile]" Seems to run about 75% of my ROMS. As far as the .cfg goes: # Jaguar BIOS options: 1 - use, 0 - don't use useJaguarBIOS = 0 # Display options: 1 - fullscreen, 0 - windowed fullscreen = 1 # OpenGL options: 1 - use OpenGL rendering, 0 - use old style rendering useOpenGL = 1 #useOpenGL = 0 These are the settings that work for me. Give that a try. Hope that helps!
-
Okay. I can see what the problem is. Try this in the command line: VisualBoyAdvance.exe "[ROMPath]\[RomFile]" Hope that helps.
-
I did a load of surfing to find most of my command line options... Never really found a central location. It's easiest to just go emu by emu - ask here, or in forums for the emu's website. Even the 'stingiest' of coders will give you command line options (usually) if you ask nice enough. Hope that helps.
-
I had problems with mess for a little while also, so I tried using MESS through the messgui.exe - messgui.exe a7800 -cart "[ROMPath]\[RomFile]" -joy -now -nonewui messgui.exe a5200 -cart "[ROMPath]\[RomFile]" -joy -now -nonewui Works like a dream. You should give Virtual Jaguar a throw before you commit to using MESS for Jag emulation. Seems to be alot less complicated and a smidge more accurate. Hope that helps.
-
Just so ya know... Inserting an -f in the command line after your .exe and before your path/file... psxfin.exe -f "[ROMPath]\[RomFile]" ...makes PSX run in fullscreen. I'm not much for the sendkeys option of any emulator. Hope that helps.

You know, Tom... I guess I hadn't thought about it until just now, but I use GameEx every day. The nag screen doesn't bother me, but I hadn't thought about the other aspect - I love GameEx and I use it. It does exactly what I want / expect it to. A great way to show my appreciation for your hard work and excellent support to this community would be to donate, so I'm gonna go and do that right now. I know my measly $20 won't set the world on fire, but I hope it helps you keep progressing on an already near-perfect front end. I hope everyone who reads this thread follows suit and makes a donation... If for no other reason then to show Tom what a great job he's doing with GameEx. Thanks.

Yeah! That's pretty cool wallpaper you got goin on there! It would be perfect for my cab! Gonna make it available to everyone?
