  1. Odd that some will run fine and others black screen. If that is the case, then I doubt this is a HideOS issue as it should do so consistently, not arbitrarily. Have you tried running the same games outside of GameEx and, if so, did you encounter the same results? By the way, I merged your topic today with this one that you already had open for pretty much the same issue (and identical posts). Let's get these issues resolved before opening another related thread. We are glad to help, but multiple threads trying to help you with the same emulator will only add to your confusion and ours! Thanks!
  2. .au3 is an AutoIt script file. You will need to probably install AutoIt to make it run or compile it into an executible (.exe) file.
  3. There are elements of both that I like. The "Christmas List" scroll in the second one is kinda cool, however, the backgrounds, tool bar, etc, appeal to me more in the first. The Santa tags for the date and time are fine, however, I think having a third tag (with a snowman perhaps?) to frame in the weather icon, as it seems to not have a clear place in either version of the theme. The text 1 & 2 need a little attention as the longer descriptions tend to overlap the date/time. Overall, for a first attempt, looking cool!
  4. Anytime! Glad you got this resolved! Btw - nice theme you are using!
  5. You will have to hit Change View quite a few times for it to change the background image to no image. Once or twice won't do it. This is definitely a change view issue.
  6. When reporting a possible GameEx bug or error, please ensure you submit a copy of your log.txt and gameex.ini file so we may quickly assist you. Please refer to this link for additional information on where to locate these files. Thanks!
  7. Nice!
  8. You still have to open GameEx in windowed mode, but Greenshot does a good job and keeps to the resolution of the window you are capturing. I like it better than anything that comes with Win 7 and not sure about the other software.
  9. I would think probable. Likely you will need to 3rd party app for a solution, such as Xpadder.
  10. Mr. Do's at Mameworld is where I usually go.
  11. The first Surface is on an ARM processor so will not be compatible with other Windows programs.
  12. You will need to locate in the Menu Bar Change View and click on this several times until you see the view you want. Welcome to the forums!
  13. Another freebie, similar to Snag-It is Greenshot. That may be worth a try as well!
  14. I am leaning towards maintaining status quo at least until I learn more about it. While I understand the direction that MS is trying to take, you cannot force upon organizations at the enterprise level to switch so drastically and hope to sell many licenses. It goes beyond updating to a new OS. It is retraining and redocumenting processes which is tremendous cost. It will be interesting to see if they offer a classic UI option that can override the Modern UI for the office setting and allow people to use that which they are familiar.
  15. To be honest, I think that Windows Media Center is not included with any of the Windows 8 versions and will be a separate purchase. EDIT: Read here. You can include it as part of the upgrade path per this link.
  16. I only have one machine at the moment (Dell XPS 420 - the one that I am on now and use for everything including GameEx) which originally came with Vista x86 and was later upgraded to Win 7 Pro x64. My wife has one of her own with Win 7 Pro x64. I recall upgrading to Win 7 with little trepidation since it was really "Vista as it should have been" and had few issues with the jump. Windows 8 is a much bigger departure (UI and features) and I have seen mixed reviews from those in a mouse & keyboard environment only. I do not like the idea of having to switch back and forth between Modern UI and "classic" desktop with little to no choice at present which is apparently forced within the OS itself and no means of staying within one or the other exclusively. Loss of the Start button does not bother me but it is a preference to have it visually and functionally. I have almost always been an early adopter whenever a new OS comes out and some of the features of Windows 8 are intriguing but I am not sure how will it will play with all I have. Also, I am debating if I do upgrade, do I do the live upgrade, order the upgrade DVD, and/or purchase the OEM System builder's DVD and install everything from scratch (which would have me doing quite a bit of backing up and reinstalling - which is not necessarily a bad thing to start entirely fresh which I have been tempted to do anyways). I know that the startup and application speeds are supposed to be decreased quite a bit with 8, which may be worth taking the dive in and of itself. Is there anyone that has installed the RTM or RC builds that can weigh in as well?
  17. The Windows 8 release is just around the corner - 10/26. Who is planning to upgrade?
  18. This has me scratching my head as I have looked at all that I know in the display and Advanced MAME settings and there is nothing that should be causing this. Doesn't mean there isn't, just that I am not seeing it. I am not able to replicate the issue. It is not a theme error, so something else is causing it. When you load the Plugin Manager, do you have any plugins enabled?
  19. Sure I'll give it a go!
  20. While I do not emulate the systems that this program is looking to be very useful for, I have to say again thanks to both nullpointer for the program and Felix for his thorough testing and reporting back to make it a success!
  21. Looks good - but to be honest, it really looks like my Hexed theme and Pure GameEx got busy and created a love child!
  22. Looking good, my friend!
  23. I have a dual display and the same thing happens - this is usually because I am loading GameEx in fullscreen as opposed to windowed mode. Likely you are using Windows 7 with Aero enabled and this occurs as the display is being changed to Windows Basic view. Try switching to Windows Basic mode and most of this should subside, however, not entirely unless you load GameEx in windowed mode.
  24. Good to see ya about Stilk! How's it been shaking.. wait.. wasn't it about 4.6 on the Richter Scale the other day? Don't know if you felt it, but having been through them as a child while living in Alaska, can be unnerving if you have never experienced a temblor before. Hope to see you about more!
  25. Depending on your MAME version and the ROMS in your collection (and your filter settings), GameEx will display all ROMs (provided settings are not filtered) minus mechanical ROMS. This include mechanical slots and pinballs and the like. I hope this answers your question and welcome to the GameEx forums!
