  1. Thanks Brian and Tempest...I see that I can always count on You !! Tempest, You are right ! I just need these information in case the hard drive crashed and You want to be able to restore Your system exactly as it was or another case : You changed hardware components and must reinstall the system, but everything else will be the same. This is why I am asking for these files... To give You an impression of this section, it will look like that : ----------------------------- 4. Important Files for GameEx : If You have to recover Your system, You surely do not want to again configure the whole system. So it’s very important to know and understand some files where Your configuration is stored, so I definitely recommend to backup the following files : 4.1 “GameEx.ini” Description : This file contains most of Your GameEx settings Location : c:\Program Files\GameEx\CONFIG 4.2 “custominput.ini” Description : Contains all custom defined key mappings in GameEx Location : c:\Program Files\GameEx\CONFIG --------------------------- If You know any other files of interest, please write it in this post... See You, Ränzo
  2. Hello, I am just extending my Mame Installation guide with a new section : Important files, and I think I do not have all files in place. Backround : If You want to reinstall the whole system, which files are very important so that You must not do again the whole work...What I have at the moment is : 1. Gameex.ini for the most cofiguration of Gameex 2. custominput.ini for custom controls I am searching for the file, where the MAME ROM list is saved. As You know when You first start GameEx, You must update the list and that can take very long...so to shortcut this process, I just would like to know the file where its saved and replay this file in the correct location, So whats the name of the file and where must I save it ? Another thing what takes very long is taging Your music : when You start Gameex for the first time, he will look for all Your music, so I also want to shortcut this process...which file and where is it stored ? I think Tempest wrote a thread about that, but I can not find that one... If You know any other files, please write it in this post and I will include it in the guide... Chers, Ränzo

  16. Hi Brain, ...I managed to fix it...but what an attack to my brain !!! I should really write a new section in my document when I have time...
  17. Thanks Brian for the link... I will check them out...
  18. Ok, I was too stupid that I did not realize that Laserdisc games are NOT under MAME, its directly on the startup screen called "Emulated Games"... Now I have another problem with Dragons Lair 2 : He does not accept the command line which I pasted from Daphneloader in GameEx : He just do not play the game ?? When I use the exact same line and paste it into the command line, everything is fine and he will start the game... ...but in GameEx, I will get a black screen for 3 secons and then he returns...strange...
  19. Hi Tony, I am also at the moment fighting with Daphne to integrate it in GameEx...I just opened a new post with this topic : Daphne problem Everything is working in Daphne, but I dont see the game in GameEx... If I finally manage to get everything running, I will maybe add a new section to my Installation Manual... Ränzo
  20. Hello, I have the problem that I can not see my Laserdisk (Daphne) games in GameEx. I successfully can start e.g. Dragons Lair 2 via Daphne Loader and everything is fine. I did the tutorial here in the forum (Daphne Tutorial how to integrate Daphne : 1. Daphne is enabled in the GameEx config 2. I set the command lines 3. I enabled the game itself for Gameex 4. I updated the gamelist ...but I still do not see the game in GameEx...any help would be appreciated... Ranzo
  21. Hello Lurker, Thanks for Your post ! That supports me to continue ! :-) Maybe I will extend the documentation with a new section called "Daphne configuration", but first I have again to test everything. I am just configuring Daphne and then we will see... Bye, Ränzo
  22. thanks for You reply but I WANTED to switch the resolution ! I know these settings...
  23. OK, NOW the problem is solved...what a mess...but what was the problem ? 1. I have a standard resolution of 800x600 2. When I start GameEx, it will switch to 640x480 3. When I start a DVD file via GameEx, it seems to me that he will switch back ti 800x600 4. When I leave DVD playback, he will again switch over to 640x480 5. When I start again the DVD, GameEx seems to have problems again switching to 800x600... How did I resolve the problem ? I simply set the defeault resolution also to 640x480 so GameEx will not switch and now everything is working... I think Tom should have a look at this...could be a bug... Bye, Ränz
  24. Hi Brian, I fixed the links and they are working now. I only used FREEWARE / Shareware software so no problem about that. I also put links to the corresponding pages where I downloaded the stuff. It uses GameEx as a FrontEnd so I think that package would be a nice addition here...:-) I know that GameEx can download all these things but not everybody has an internet connection or maybe just want to set up fast their configuration and will later on do the rest ? Bye, Ränzo
