OK, i found the answer : the executable must be named VPinball.exe.... Hopefully tonight I can finish the guide... André

I am just trying to use Tempests loader, but with no success...I think that some information are missing : Information is : => Visual Pinball Loader: => This is a loader to hide the windows that open when VPinball is executed. Inside the .7z, you will find: => [Mapping Off] Exit (ESC+Q).ini - Advanced config (Copy to: GameEx\CONFIG\EMULATORS) OK, I copied this file into my correct folder => VPinball.ini - Emulator Config (Use the 'Import' Button - Make sure to check your paths) 1. Where is the "IMPORT" Button and where must this file be located ? => VPinball.png - Image used to hide VPinball (You can use your own image, make sure it's named VPinBall.png) 2. Again, where must this file be located ? => VpinBallLoader.exe - Loader Program 3. Again, where must this file be located ? 4. Where must all other files be located, e.g. i_view32.exe and all other files in that package ?? 5. Where can I say which picture he should load ? 6. Where can I say which Pinball executable he should start ? e.g. VPinball909.exe Here is my gameex.ini file : [Emulator_1] Enabled=True System=Pinball Category=Pinball Emulator=Visual Pinball Version=9.0.9 Rating= DownloadUrl=http://www.gamesdbase.com/setupwizard/emulators/download/Visual%20Pinball.7z RequiredFiles= Website=http://www.randydavis.com/vp/intro.htm Info=Visual Pinball offers real time Pinball Development System. It allows you to design and play your very own pinball simulation TitleText=Pinball StartPageName=[Pinball] Visual Pinball StartPageLogo=Pinball Command=VPinballLoader.exe "[ROMFILE]" "[WORKINGPATH]" RomFilter=*.vpt Database=[Pinball] Visual Pinball ConfigFile=Visual Pinball V6 MapFile= RomPath=D:\Emulators\Visual Pinball\Tables SnapPath=D:\Emulators\Visual Pinball\Snaps TitlePath=D:\Emulators\Visual Pinball\Titles BoxPath=D:\Emulators\Visual Pinball\Boxes CartPath=D:\Emulators\Visual Pinball\Cartridges ManualPath=D:\Emulators\Visual Pinball\Manuals ControlPanelPath=D:\Emulators\Visual Pinball\Controls WorkingPath=D:\Emulators\Visual Pinball MapKeys=True WaitBeforeKeys= SendKeys= ReplaceDash=True ReplaceUnder=True Capitals=True RemoveBrackets=False ShowDesktop=True Debug=False AlsoLaunch=[APPPATH]\vpauto.exe OLDatZip= LaunchBefore= LaunchAfter= ExcludedFiles= CustomBackground= PlayMusic= DontShowInfo= PlaySelectionMusic= SelectionMusicFolder= PCGame= GamesIn7Zips= PlayInScreenSaver=False ShowMostPlayed=True RandomMostPlayed=True CDCheck= CDCheckFile= lastgame= -------------------- ...and in the batch file runitgame.bat, its written : D: CD "D:\Emulators\Visual Pinball" vpinballloader.exe "Attack from Mars.vpt" "D:\Emulators\Visual Pinball" ------------------- I managed it so that the Boot logo will appear but after that, nothing will happen. I think the problem could be that he is not starting my executable VPinball909.exe. Could that be the reason ? Any help would be very nice to run that baby André

I will check that out today and update the documentation and the package. Another problem and question : 1. They key mapping are not really working : Means that I set the button "W" to add credits, but he does not accept that !! All other keys are remapped, but not that one 1. Must I really start every pinball to set it to freeplay ? Bye for now, André

I would like to know one last point to really be happy... When I start the pinball from Gameex, I will then see all these loading screens. Is there a possibility to completely hide these loading sequences ? Bye, André

Hi Guys !! So, it was NOT my problem, it was a problem of Visual Pinball. They just released a new version : 909 and now everything works fine and shortly I can release the new Full MAME Installation Guide Version 1.9 !! Bye, André

Sorry for my late response, but I was completly busy to pick up my first pinball machine : "Tales of the Arabian Nights" and its just a great pinball... Where can I set that HD Render ? I am using the Graphic card : ATI Saphire X1650PRO with 512 MB RAM and 8x AGP Attached to that post is my gameex.ini file So any help would be very nice... Ahhh, and by the way : Happy new year !! Hi, I just used my old Image and additionally installed Visual Pinball and everything works fine. Just one last question : The emulation is a little bit slow...which means that the ball does not roll smoothly...it chops around so that its nearly impossible to play the game...are theer any features which I can turn off to get a better simulation in Visual Pinball... But on the other hand, I have a fast system : 1GB RAM, AMD Athlon XP 3200+ Barton...so its strange for me why the simulation is so slow...newest ActiveX installed... Bye, André

I completely reinstalled my system and found another problem : When I manual start a pinball via starting VPinball908.exe, then selecting the pinball and go to "Play", he will correctly start the pinball and he is also showing me the little DOT Matrix display on the left upper side. When I do the same thing via Gameex, this matrix is away...Another problem is that when I start the Emulation via Gameex, I only see in the BACKROUND the simulation and the active window is the Visual Pinball...so I have to use my mouse to activate the correct window to play... What loader are You using...teh default loader in the gameex.ini file vploader, or the loader in the folder "VPinball_Loader.exe" ? Any help would be very nice... Bye, André

I continued in that post : My link

Hello, I managed to also run the emulator, but one thing : When I start a pin, the screen will not be black and I can see the loading windows of Visual Pinball and PinMAME. Is there a chance to completly suppress all these screens so that I only see the Pinball when its finished with loading ? Also, how can I configure the pinballs, e.g. set to Freeplay ?

I finally got this thing to work !! Sure I had the tables...this is why I posted the links to the files... The problem was WHERE to save the vbs scripts...and now after trying, they have to be put in the tables folder... So now everything is working WITHOUT using gameex. Now I would like to integrate it with gameex. Could You please tell me what exactly I have to do so that I can see and start it in gameex ? Thanx in advance !! André

Sorry, but I think I am too stupid to run that...I just read for over 1 hour articles about running the simulation, but it will not work. Could You please give me a step-by-step instrcution to get this running. As far as I know now : 1. Download Visual Pinball (which version ? Full version to install or just the file ? -> My link 2. Download Visual Pinmame -> My link 3. Create 2 Folder : 1. Visual Pinball / 2. Visual PinMAME 4. Extract the files in the corresponding folders For Visual Pinball 1. Create a folder called "tables" 2. Copy Your downloaded table (e.g. Attack from Mars) into that folder -> My link For Visual PinMAME 1. Start the Setup.exe file in the folder 2. Click on "Install" and leave the default 3. Download the scripts -> My link OK, where must I put the scripts ? What is missing ? When I start VPinball908.exe, I load teh table and hit F5 to play, and then I get a bunch of error messages...please help...I really get insane with that stuff... -
-
One other question : Is Future Pinball the better emulator and can I use it with Gameex ?
-
Hi, Thanks for You quick answer !! 1. Do You know a location where I can get the tables with the correct versions ? As I know, it must always be the correct version to the application... 2. Where can I download vploader ? I checked the download section (Dpwnloads but could not find it... Google does also not give me an answer 3. So to configure Pinmame, You use the emulators section in the gameex.ini ? Maybe You could post Your emulator section of the ini file here ? Bye, André

Hello Community, I am just extending my Full Mame Installation Guide and would like to extend it with a new chapter "Visual Pinball" and I need Your help because it does not work as expected...what I did : 1. Downloaded Visual Pinball and extracted on D:\Emulators\Visual Pinball (Version 9.0.3) 2. Downloaded Visual PinMAME and extracted to D:\Emulaotrs\VPINMAME (Version 2.1) 3. Downloaded Visual Pinball Launcher to D:\Emulators\Visual Pinball V 3.02 For Visual Pinball : Downloaded all Tables to D:\Emulators\Visual Pinball\Tables For VPINMAME : Downloaded all ROMS to D:\Emulaotrs\VPINMAME 4. I start the Visual Pinball Launcher and he starts to checkk all Tables -> OK 5. I double-click a Table -> I have to accept the Agreement and he starts So, my basic configuration is working but some questions are left : 1. Is the actual configuration ok ? Is that the best way to get the Flippers running ? 2. How can I remove the Agreement when I start a table ? 3. When I Start the table "Attack from Mars", I get the message : Script Error Line: 132 Object does not support this property or method: Table1.Slope 4. How can I integrate it in GameEx ? Will it recognized just as a normal Emulator ? 5. Will I use the VPLauncher or will I see directly the Tables in GameEx ? 6. When I am in a table, I must push "ESC" and he askes me If I really would like to do that...can I supress that ? I already tried to search for these topics here but I could not get a Step-By-Step guide or I was just too stupid to see it, sorry... So as I wrote, I will extend the Guide with the Pinball Sektion when everything is running...

Full Configuration Mame Package
ranzo replied to ranzo's topic in FAQs, Guides, & Other Useful Information
Hi, Just updated the package to version 1.6 and the manual to Version 1.7 Bye and have fun ! Ränzo -
Hi Yves, I had the same issue. Problem was, that I had a different display resolution than in GameEx. So, e.g. when I start Windows and LogOn, I had 800x600. When starting GameEx, it changed to 640x480. Now when I start a video, it will change again to 800x600 (You will not notice that) and I can see the film. When I press "ESC", I am returing to GameEx. When I start AGAIN a video, I also get a black screen. You will hear the sound, but no picture at all. So my solution was to always have the same display resolution. Another problem could be that GameEx does no correctly use the video codec. Please have a look at my Guide in chapter 3 (look in my signature) on how to set it with Sharkcodec. Hope that will resolve Your problem and many greetings from germany !! Ränzo
