I will check it ! Tempest already guided me on how to do it. About the "Select Game" box , I will remove it. Since not everyone has a PSx joypad hooked into GameEx setup! Any more things ? Thanks for the feedback ! -
Draco ! Great work ! Keep it going because I liked a lot your layout idea !

Hum... I will give a try! I'm using Makaron on my setup. But the problem with Makaron is the configuration. I can´t figure out on how to configure two player support. But it runs a lot of games in full speed or playable speed. Probably I will need to modify my BAT file to work with NullDc. But if it´s worth I will do it !

@ Adultery. Thats the idea. But I´ve already saw that Visual Basic Express can GET a process running. So the main Idea is : 1- Get the Process 2- After having the process , the program will map the keys. But YOU will have to add the keys. Example. Zsnes uses F3 for Save State and F4 for Loading State. Project64 uses CTRL+F4 to save and CTRL+F6 to load. So I can do it by a config file or directly in the program code. The config file is more sleek. But I dont know how to use config files in VBE. As I said I´m not a developer. My Goal is at first make the program send keystrokes to an Unfocused window. I´ve had a little sucess sending text to a window. But I want Keystrokes , Like ALT+F4 , CTRL+ESC and things like that. Because almost all emulator use combinations like this. I´m still researching , but no sucess at all... If anybody know a code that does this , please let me know. The rest I will learn !

Hi Everyone ! This morning I was thinking about to have some sort of a in game GUI for GameEx. Like waht we have on modern game Consoles like Wii Menu and Xbox 360 NXE. My ideia is prety simple. I want to develop some sort of interface that we can access while playing a Game. Emulators provide lots of resources , and lots of these resources we have to access using in emulator menus. Imagine this situation.... You're playing Final Fantasy 3 for SNES. And you know that the next Save Point is very far from were you are. So if you are using an emulator , you can use the Save State option. To do that you have to navigate to menus , or use keyboard shortcuts to Save your State. On the other hand using menus to do that kills the fashion of a dedicated setup for gaming. My idea is , build a simple program , that controls these actions. The Basic options could be : SAVE STATE LOAD STATE CHOOSE SAVE STATE SLOT EXIT GAME The options bellow are very clear in their meaning. The last one "EXIT GAME" I want it to show another Menu with the dialog : Exit Game ? [ YES ] [NO] Then after the exit , you go back to gameEx. If you have an Xbox 360 you know exactly what I'm talking about. I´ve thinking about this because sometimes I want to use some emulator functions. And sometimes I want a confirmation before I go back to GameEx. So I started to research on how to do this via Visual Studio Express. I used that code to test it. It´s a simple application that send keystrokes to an unfocused application. It´s more or less what I will need to do to access emulator options. As at the point that you start another application, the emulator window will lose focus. So the main point is: 1- Start the Application WHITOUT clossing the current emulator section. 2- Make the emulator Window/Program avaiable to receive Keyboard imputs (Via the app.) 3- Exit the application and GO BACK to emulator. If you have Visual Studio Express just copy and paste the code to see it working. I'm not a developer , I just know how to put codes togheter and make it work. So anyone interested to help me build it ? Any help will be appreciated !

Hi Everyone ! Today I've reached the last part of the theme. The part of doing the GameEx logos for standard operations , like Shutdown , Search , Favorites and other stuffs. This one is the trick one. Because I have to made a theme for everyone , not just for my setup right ? Well , below the logos that I've created at the moment. I used a small text to explain what does the function do. So if everyone has a better text , PLEASE let me know ! I´m brazilian and sometimes my english betray me ! So here it comes. Below two screenshots of how it looks within GameEx., This is not my GameEx Setup , is just one to do the theme testing thing. I will develop more the first page. Thinking about to put some game characters on it. Thanks for all the support ! It really keeps me going ! -

I´ve found all snaps in Underground Gamer. The videos I´ve found in Emumovies. Just Sega Saturn that I dont have nothing ! No Snaps , No videos. I´m thinking about to use GameEx to do it for me. I´ve saw a good tutorial explaining how to do this. I´m planing to finish the theme tomorow (Holiday in Brazil ! ) So I will have the entire day to work on it. But I´m messing arround with lots of stuffs (Xbox 360 with Xbreboot , Planing a new case to my HTPC/GameEx Box) so time is very tight! But the theme is my priority number one ! Kenpachi , wich resolution do you use ? It will help me a lot to make an widescreen option to the theme. -

Hi ! Thanks for the feedback ! Be sure I will do that. Now I have to finish the console Icons that appear on emulator list. The theme is already done in Theme Editor. But I want to publish it , only when its is fully completed. And I will release the PSD file too ! I´ve read about it somewhere in the forum. I will search for it , and use it as a storage place for the theme. I think that in this week I will start doing the console icons. Thanks to everyone ! -

Hi everyone ! Here are the Backgrounds for my new theme. If you notice , there is one file named "Foreground.png" I´m using this layout in theme editor. One background to every emulator , and the same foreground for all. This is how it looks finished. I still trying some other fonts. All Backgrounds , to all systems that my GameEx support. These are all the Systems that my GameEx setup supports. If you want a particular system , please let me know and I will do it. As soon I finish this one, I will relase the PSD too. I´m planning to release an Widescreen resolution too. But I dont have an wide screen monitor yet. My real wish is to release an HD (720p) an a Full HD (1080p). But no HD monitors here too. As I said , here comes the Photoshop PSD file of the old theme. It´s perfectly understandable , even some layers are in Brazilian Portuguese. If you want to use it, feel free to modify. Just remember to show me the results ! Old theme Screenshot. Download Link - Old theme - Unfineshed : http://rapidshare.com/files/376022562/Mustarda_-_1024x768_-_BIGVID-V1.zip.html Thanks to everyone ! Fell free to coment and share ideas ! -

Hi Everyone ! After a lot of work in my first theme , I´ve decided to build another one from scratch. The idea remains the same , highlight the video preview of the theme. But now I´ve switched from a white standard to a black one. If anyone has interest, I will release the PSD of the old and unfinished theme. This is the old theme: This is the new theme. For the new theme , there are some ideas that I want to try. But this is already the final layout. -
I agree with you Tom. I´ve already done this. My Hard Disk is a fast one (3GB/s) But the problem is within Windows. But my goal with this thread is to buy "THE ONE NLITED WINDOWS TO RULE THEN ALL" I´ve saw in other forum , A custom build called Tiny XP. I will try it tonight. It´s seems to be pretty small and fast. And if this was made with Nlite , we can dig into the configs.

Hi Everyone ! My idea with this topic , is with the help of the user base of GameEx to create some sort of default Windows install for GameEx. Why I´m talking about it. I´ve spended 10 months building an HTPC with GameEx and Xbmc. But I´m not satisfied with Windows boot times and program loading times. I have an Core 2 Duo (2,9 Ghz) , 2GB RAM in an Asus Motherboard with 1 TB HardDisk. And Boot time takes up to 1 minute to start GameEx. I´ve already made a LOT of custom Windows installs with Nlite , but no sucess at all. Always stuck in 1 minute boot time.. What I´m looking foward to is to share experience with this community. And togheter we can build , a perfect build of Windows to use in cabinetes/HTPCs. So , anybody have any sort of Speeding Up Windows ? Speeding up Boot time ? Shrinking it down ? Thanks to everyone !

I´ve run into this problem few weeks latter. Just disable Autorun in Windows.

@ Everyone ! I´ve tried again my first compiled Mame. With the first instructions of Headkaze that I´ve found , and it´s worked ! I´ve tested it again with Xppader and Joy2Key and both worked. Eventghost doesn´t seens to work , but Xppader will save my day ! Thanks do everyone !
-
Thanks Frequency ! I´ve found this one right after I´ve posted the reply. The headkaze option I´ve already tested , but no sucess. Now I´m going to try Bryan Hoffman hack. Let´s go compiling again... I will post the results soon !
-
Hi Bryan ! I´ve tried to compile MAME using this clue that you give me. I´ve followed the instructions of Headkaze on his "Mame Compiler" web site. And to enable the directinput I used these instructions from Headkaze in another forum. http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=92761.0 But no sucess at all ! Eventghost and joy2key still doesn´t work. I REALLY need this , because my GameEx setup is in my HTPC , and I don´t want to hook up a keyboard just to exit Mame Games... Can you give a clue of this thread ? Any Keyword to find it ? I´ve searched the GameEx forum , but no sucess at all... Thanks again !

Hi Everyone! Well , after setting up my GameEx and it´s emulators , I´ve run into a problem with Mame. My HTPC will not have a real keyboard in the final setup. All the control functions will be done with a Joypad and a IR Controler. Well , all the emulators go back to GameEx when I press "ESC". Everything works as expected. Only when I'm running MAME this doesn´t work. Mame only go back to GameEx , if I press the REAL "ESC" key. Using EventGhot to emulate the "ESC" Keystroke , doesn´t work. In all the other emulators , this work. I´ve tried other options like Xpadder and Joy2Key. But none worked. My Mame version is M.A.M.E. v0.136 (Dec 31 2009) My GameEx Version is 10.37 Anyone can give me an help ? Thanks to everyone!

Hi ! I´ve run in the same problem last month. What I´ve done is , I´ve created new Map Files (One for CPS-1, one for CPS-2 and one for NeoGeo). I have this ones ready at home (i´m at work now). As soon I arrive home I will post it.

Hi Everyone ! My question is , Is possible to display a screen right before you hit "Play this Game" My idea is to display a disclaimer before a game starts. Then pressing any key , the game starts. Here comes my inspiration ! Is this possible? Thanks !

Hi Everyone! My question is quite simple. As I already posted in the foruns , I´m finishing my custom theme (Mustarda3). Well , to build it , I´m using custom emulator layouts in theme Editor. This is because I want home and other pages with a diferent layout. Yesterday I´ve finished all the emulators layouts , except for Mame. So , I´ve managed to do same with the Mame layout. But When I change the Mame layout , Home Layout changes too. Is there any way to do that Whitout messing with the Home ? Thanks to everyone !
