  1. I don't know of an option in GameEx to do that. You can remove them, but not switch them around. The snapshots fit to the box in the theme. You can edit the box size in Theme editor, and make them larger. Also, the size of the image matters as well. The bigger the image, the more of the box it will fill, the smaller the less.... jeeze... this is starting to sound a lot like... aw forget it. IMBerzerk... yes I am.
  2. Note to GreatFlash... or anyone that has the files... looks like the link in the thread for the C64 wrapper GF wrote is dead? Can you post it again. I've put that on the back burner for now... house projects and holidays are priority lately, but I want to have the files ready to go. Thanks, IMBerzerk
  3. OOOO!!!! You just reminded me... WE'RE DONE BETA TESTING OUR WWI GAME!!! YA-HOO!!! Hopefully we release it before Xmas. IMBerzerk PS.. If I stick around here long enough, believe me, I'll give you encyclopedias worth of funny stuff to save.
  4. No... that's a UK expression... if anything, I'm in the Dark Tower.
  5. Yes, that was it... the Mag Stik. I have 2 mounted in my Cafe style, and I am putting 2 more in the next cabinet. My oldest unit has orignal Wico leaf switch joysticks which are no longer available. I love those the best, they have that classic Arcade feel to them. Heck yes for the suggestions, I'm not knocking the design. I've been there and done that. I was only trying to save him time and money. My Berzerk cabinet had 3 CP's in the past 8 years and I finally settled on the 1 design. If I can help anyone from wasting that kind of time, I'm here. But truthfully, it's all meant in good nature. A lot of guys I have seen build cabinets do it with the best intent and wind-up adding so much stuff that the CP looks like the control panel on the Space Shuttle, meanwhile, they use about 10% of it. Wasted time and money. I have a tendency of sounding pomp(ass) in emails and on forums... It's just hard to explain, or write what I am trying to say sometimes. Sorry. IMBerzerk
  6. I've built 2 cabinets already, and am now 3/4 into the third, whereas the control panel is now a basic science to me. If you don't mind my input, you're panel is a bit cluttered and not very user friendly. Here's my best reccomendation for space and use, and fitting good graphics. 1. Coin doors have the squat swithes in them, so use those for the coin registers, some even come with an extra switch for test mode (F2), if not, install one with a single position switch from Radio Shack. That will eliminate the 2 coin buttons. It's fun and worth having a functional coin door. It's a game cabinet, why not make it look real. If it's in the budget, do it. If not, then mount the two coin buttons where the coin door would be anyway. 2. Joysticks... buy 2x 8/4 way joysticks that are changable from THE TOP! Look-up Ultimarc.com and see what I am talking about. I have four of them and they rock! It's the best invention for a game cabinet there is. Most of my stuff is from them and the quality is outstanding. 3. You have a lot of space there to use, don't waste it. If you can move your joysticks closer to the edge, you can create more room. Get rid of the 'Pause' and 'Exit' 1 1/8" buttons that you have, and use Radio Shack's small single throw black and red buttons. They work very well for that application, and instead of them being an eye-sore, they become more discrete. I like folks to enjoy the artwork on the panel, rather than being over-whelmed by too many buttons. 4. Here is a really cool thing I like to do... when you make your panel use metal over wood... or just a metal plate for the control panel. 16 guage works very well. I use metal because I can then eliminate those horrible 6" plates that you need to mount the Happs Trackball. Although I see Ultimarc is now selling a trackball you can mount under 3/4" wood panles, which would solve that for you. I still stick to metal. This last panel will have metal over wood for added strength, and easy of mounting. There is nothing worse that having a ton of mounting screws everywhere. The buttons will clamp everyting down as well as the pressure from the joysticks. All you need are the two underside spring clamps to hold down the panel to the cabinet. The metal plates can be bought at Home Depot, Lowe's, or any hardware store. If it's bigger than that, go to a steel supply shop, they should be able to cut one for you real easy. Cut the holes with a hole-cutting saw and a drill. Eliminate the extra joystick and buttons. Too many buttons that are never used is a total waste. The middle position looks very cramped against the other two, and if a 3rd player was there, you'd have no room. Hence why I suggested moving the joysticks out more. Here is my latest design. This cabinet is for my wife. Her favorite two games were Galaxian and Robotron. She could not make-up her mind which one she wanted, hence the design. But see the simplicity of the control panel. All too often I see guys cramp a ton of stuff into the panel and it looks like hell. Most of the classic games you can get away with 1 joystick, and 4 buttons. Then some use 2 jousticks. It's when it gets into the fighting games that it gets really crazy with buttons. I hope this helps a little... I've been doing this for 8 years now. It's a lot of fun making the cabinet, in fact, I enjoy it more than playing on it. I love the classic look of the old cabinet, so I'm biased on my designs of simplicity as they mostly were. Don't forget to show off the cabinet with some cool grahics. Don't make it an eye-sore, make it a classic work of art that a becomes a comversational piece for years to come. box art

It all depends on what you are looking for. You have to search A LOT. The older the system, the harder it is. But you can find it. Just take your time, sometimes from many different sources. I found all my Vectrex stuff that way. IMBerzerk
  8. I 'm posting here because another user started an new thread with the same problem, but this thread is loaded with good info, so it needs a bump. I had this problem as well, and I tried EVERYTHING under the sun to correct it. I finally threw in the towel and converted my videos to Xvid format. They play great now, however, I accidentally made them smaller... so I might have to do it again. Grrrr..!!! Anyhow, even with my audio option off, I still got the stutter, and pauses. I think it has something to do with the codec they are recorded in conflicting with Media player running in GameEx. I even went so far as to reload XP and start new... same result. But converting did the trick for me. It took forever to do it though. IMBerzerk
  9. Yeah, I second this route. It's really easy to do, and with the new Highscore diff, you can activate the high scores again. Those have been turned off since version 107? If I can do it, you can. IMBerzerk
  10. The control panels are a little too close for my comfort. I like my friends... but I don't LIKE my friends. Other than that, it's cool. IMBerzerk
  11. Thanks Tempest, Like you said, rebuilding the game list is the key. I'll mess with the filters until I have what I want tonight. IMBerzerk
  12. I loaded the latest version. No change. I then turned off all the filters, except 'no porn' and 'present roms'. No change. Then I updated the list, and it appeared. So I'm getting there. But why would it do that? I then started turning off all the other stuff like 'no bracketed text', but there is no change. Is that normal? I would think it would make these changes on the fly? It's not which explains why I could not get Galaga to display until I refreshed the list. Any thoughts as it takes forever for me to refresh the list everytime to check one little thing. Thanks for all your help, IMBerzerk
  13. I think I am running 9.60... so I'll load the latest, then turn all filters off and see what happens when I turn each on 1 by 1.
  14. Yes, I tried that thinking it was imperfect. I think the color is off or something? But adding it to the 'do not filter' still did not remove it. Does it display on your cabinet? And yes, I have the ROM, and it's a good one. Thanks for the help. It's an old favorite I'd like to have working. Funny, I had a similar problem with Pacman not coming up, but it did once I selected 'All MAME Games'
  15. I found this last night while finishing up the last details in my cabinet. Thanks for posting that Shell program Chriss.. it's great. Anyhow, Galaga works fine in MAME, no issues... but I cannot get it to list on the Gamelist, no matter what I choose. Anyone else have the same issue, and if not, what do you have it set to. I have active... All MAME games Vertical Horizontal Vector Atari No porn No Majong No clones No verify roms only working only present roms maybe a few more, but that's really the bulk of them. IMBerzerk
  16. Gents, I have WinVice and UAE on my cabiunet for C64 and Amiga respectively, they are ust not a part of GameEx yet. The easiest to setup is WinVice. I had that running before, but removed it from the list. How are you guys doing the multiple disk games like Racing Destrucion Set, and Summer Games (I,II, winter games... etc)? How do I setup the Amiga? I know there was a thread about it, I just couldn't find it. Same for the Amiga though. I'd like to run Wings and some of the other Cinemaware games that were on multiple disks. How is that done via the Joystick inputs... or better yet, without having to break-out the keyboard? Thanks for any help provided, IMBerzerk
  17. It's also a part of the theme you choose. I have Retro Future running on my cabinet, with the music playing. It's pretty descreet as you only see the line of info at the top, it's small and faded. Other themes have more graphics, and boxes displayed. But there is no way to remove the jukebox without altering the theme... as far as I can tell... IMBerzerk
  18. Jeeze.. I gotta read more. I've been trying to do this for weeks, with marginal success. Sounds like the answer was right under my nose... again... Thanks for posting this Chriss, I'll check it out tonight and hopefully, I'll boot right into the movie and then into GameEx without any hint of XP anywhere. IMBerzerk
  19. I finally got around to recompiling MAME to dump the nag screens and add the highscore support. Your compiler worked effortlessly!! Thanks for writing it and making it available. I highly reccomend anyone else that wants to do this to use it. It's so simply an idiot like me can do it. IMBerzerk
  20. Flash, I haven't forgotten about what I offered to send you. October is a wicked (pardon the pun) busy month for me, but now that it's over, I'll pull out the Sears box and my Super Video Arcade and send some photos to you. I can crop them myself. What do you need? It just has to be on a white background right? IMBerzerk
  21. Chriss, What other things do you add to MAME when you recompile it? I'd like to add the Highscore patch, and also the nag screen removers. Do you do any other kid of optimizing? Thanks, IMBerzerk
  22. How are you guys running your emulation for C64? I have WinVice running in GameEx but what about swapping disks? Is there an easier way to do this, rather than mapping a key, and breaking into the menu to change the disk? games like Racing Destruction Set are great, but suck trying to play them on a game cabinet. Thanks, IMBerzerk
  23. Cool, thanks for the advice guys. Those are the last Emu's I will add, as I now have plenty. Many of them I run in MESS which works like a charm. All the best, IMBerzerk
  24. Guys any advice for these? Thanks as always. Everything is runnig smooth as silk and looks great. IMBerzerk

    Dragons Lair

I know why your asking this. I saw those posted a while back as well, but I have the original Digital Leisure DVD, and without it, the newest version of Daphne will not work. You probably have Space Ace as well... same issue. No DVD... no play. The new version asks for the DVD, then downloads the newest re-mastered version of the .Mov and .ogg files... which are very good. Sorry, if I am off-base here, but if I'm not... you're on your own. The guys on the Daphne board will flame you for sure for hinting at this. IMBerzerk
