I am happy to announce that our new Download Service Utility is now in Private Beta Testing. This new service has been in development for the better part of the year and has been tough for me to be quiet about. This is a reinvention in how we here at EmuMovies intend to deliver content. This is not a replacement for the FTP but another "More Efficient" way to deliver content to our members. What this does is allow the Member to populate their front end with videos and artwork with just a couple of button clicks. It compares your rom folder to the content on the server and only downloads the content that you need. It also automatically renames all media files to match your Roms, alleviating the need to use 3rd party re-namers such as fat-match. Basically this means that a months work of sorting and renaming to get everything working in your front-end take only a matter of minutes. Everything is completely automatic needing only the simplest direction of the Member. As of 8/20/2010 Lifetime Members, Content Contributors, Developers, and Staff have all been invited to participate in the private beta. Hopefully we will open it up to other member classes soon. This service utilizes it's own separate server that the site and FTP. So it's important that we take some baby steps as we work out the final bugs and polish up the service. We would very much appreciate any and all feedback on this service so we can get it out to everyone as quickly as possible. I just wanted to spread the word to any FTP subscribers or members that haven't visited EmuMovies the last few days that there has been a significant change to the FTP system and your old login will not work. The short story is: If you are already a member of the EmuMovies forums that I opened last november then your new FTP login information will be in your messenger over there. If you are not a member of our forums but an FTP subscriber I will need you to register for the forums and then send me a PM requesting ftp access. I can then upgrade your site and FTP access appropriately. The long story is: When we moved to our new server three months ago we immediately started having problems. The site would go down every week due to CPU overloads, I worked with the host to try and figure it out but right when he told me he was going to move me to a new server the whole thing crashed. Come to find out it was a faulty raid controller and some files were corrupted. We were able to save the databases and the site but cpanel was gone. It took us a week to get back up but I took the opportunity to make another upgrade. We have now gone from 250GB of capacity to 1.5TB of capacity. Doubled the ram on the server and upgraded to an core i7 platform. In addition we have employed a enterprise level backup solution that will take daily images of the server remotely. I also took the opportunity to finish the conversion to the new website. So mostly good came out of our little disaster, however the FTP database was gone. However with a little help I was able to figure out a way to tie the ftp to the member classes of the forum. Supporting members and up already have full access to the Site and the forum manages subscriptions and class changes automatically. I was able to set up 300 registered users with FTP access in about 5 min. This normally would have taken a week or more. So now that the two systems are married you will need to register for the forum to regain access but it's worth it. Thanks, Circo

I am going to take a random stab in the dark here, did you get flv or avi videos? FLV's are primarily for hyperspin and the avi's work best with GameEx and others.

Your not wrong, that was how we started, but the site has long since gone out of control with all things front end related Watch the site over the next few weeks, it's going to hopefully be shocking as I complete and impliment all of the upgrades that will hopefully keep the site going strong for years to come.

Earlier this year EmuMovies went from shared hosting to a dedicated server. Due to the unexpected growth and populatity of the site we have quickly outgrown our server. Currently we are running: Core2Duo 3.0Ghz 250 GB hard drive 2GB Ram 5000 GB Bandwidth and while I thought we were 100mbs we are only 10 Our new server: Core2Quad Intel 2.83Ghz 6GB Ram 2 x 750 GB (RAID 1-HW) 9000GB Traffic/Month 100 Mbs Network Speed This time unlike last time, they are going to move the site and FTP accounts for me so there should be no issues requiring new accounts to be set up like last time. As a team we are extremely excited about this and it should fix all of the minor FTP issues that we have had. Lastly I want to express a sincere thanks to all of our premium users for getting us to this point, in my opinion running out of resources is not a bad thing, it just shows that this project has true value and validity.
