I am keeping the existing avi's on the emumovies ftp, at least until mala gets everything working. I think we are going to package up a little utility to 1 click convert the mp4's to avi as a long term solution.

This new codec is incredibly more efficient than AVI at stuff like this, there should be 0 effect on performance with the mp4's

I see what your saying, that looks like a glitch on the last batch. Been using the scene transitions for over a year and a half now, it's not supposed to be a slow transition or delay anything. This is not a new thing or a change that has anything to do with the switch to mp4. Is there a certain set that you are looking at tom? Sound starts on the first frame and video literally starts on the second frame of a 30fps video. The overall transition is only supposed to last about 1/2 of a second.

Any issues with slowdown compared to the avi's?

I imagine a little, the advantage is a 60-70% reduction in file size

For the last six years we have used the XviD format for AVI videos. It is finally time to make a change. I am in the process of converting everything over to x.264 MP4's. WARNING: this upgrade will come with a lot of new content. I just finished uploading the Brand new SNES video set to the EmuMovies FTP in MP4 format. This set is 100% complete and every video has changed. Here is the best part of all this the AVI set that had a lot less videos in it was 4.8GB the new MP4 set that includes 777 videos comes in at 1.8 GB with the same quality. Now before I upload all the new sets we need to make sure there are not any huge issues with the change. So any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Note: these are not yet available via the download service, only the ftp under Official Videos - MP4

Sorry about that, I have been out of town and only monitoring support tickets. I saw that you put one in, had it answered within 30 min your all set now. The downtime yesterday/this morning was due to a nameserver glitch. Everything is now back to normal.

If you have anything you would like to submit please let us know over at emumovies. I will state that while the download utility does do renaming for best results start with a no-intro romset.

As far as EmuMovies, that set hasn't even been started yet. I dont think anything really exists. I have the hardware to make them right, but a lot of stuff in front of it.
