Hi guys, Im having difficulty in getting my games running smoothly - (GameEx and MAME). I am running Win7 64bit with a dual core processor and AMD 5450 gfx card, so plently of power for most games! I have tried both the 32bit and 64bit version of the command line MAME. If I enable -triplebuffer the sound keeps repeating/stuttering bits and and is extreemly annoying, however the video is smooth. I dont see how this can be a performance issue as Im talking about very basic old games here like Ghosts&Goblins etc. If I enable -syncrefresh the exact same thing happens as above. If I enable -noswitches and/or -vsync the games refuse to run alltogether. Anyone got any ideas whats goin on here? Cheers Nat.

Ok Ive got it working. Im not exactly sure how though! Here's what I did: Originally I had FFDshow installed and all videos worked prefectly in WMC and WMP etc but none of the avisnaps were showing up in GameEx. I unistalled FFDshow and installed the Shark Codec pack but still no avisnaps in GameEx. Last night I went to watch an MKV movie and it wouldnt play so I fiddled about with the settings in the Shark Codec pack and also noticed that my Haali splitter was unistalled (must have been uninstalled when removing FFDshow I guess). So, I reinstalled Haali and now everything works perfectly. Strange, becuase I didnt think that the emumovies avisnaps needed a matroska splitter, but then again I did fiddle about a bit with the settings in shark so that may have done it, I dont know! thanks for all your help and suggestions guys!

No, this does not work. If I do this then I get no videos and no images, nothing at all. It seems to me that I have something very seriously wrong with my setup, Im half tempted just to reinstall Windows and start again to be honest. Anyway heres a new log with the avisnap path included: 11:44:58.2 14/04/2011: GameEx: Version 11.69: Starting Log 11:44:58.2 14/04/2011: Operating System Platform: Win32NT 11:44:58.2 14/04/2011: Operating System Name: Windows Vista 11:44:58.2 14/04/2011: Operating System Version: 6.1.7601 11:44:58.2 14/04/2011: Aero running 11:44:58.2 14/04/2011: Initializing Vista/Windows 7 volume control 11:44:58.2 14/04/2011: Checking for versions of .net Framework installed 11:44:58.2 14/04/2011: .net Framework 2.0 Installed 11:44:58.2 14/04/2011: .net Framework 3.0 Installed 11:44:58.2 14/04/2011: .net Framework 3.5 Installed 11:44:58.2 14/04/2011: Pentium® Dual-Core CPU E6500 @ 2.93GHz, 2047MB 11:44:58.2 14/04/2011: 2.93Ghz - 2 Cores or CPU's 11:44:58.2 14/04/2011: Running Randomize() 11:44:58.2 14/04/2011: Loading PlugIns 11:44:58.3 14/04/2011: Checking for applications to Launch On Startup 11:44:58.3 14/04/2011: Running Misc startup tasks 11:44:58.3 14/04/2011: Setting Menu types 11:44:58.3 14/04/2011: Opening Configuration File 11:44:58.3 14/04/2011: Getting Configuration Values 11:44:58.3 14/04/2011: Using Theme: Default - Default 11:44:58.3 14/04/2011: Checking for alternate Image Directory for Theme: Default - Default 11:44:58.3 14/04/2011: Launching HideOS.exe 11:44:58.3 14/04/2011: Initialising Video/MNG DLL's 11:44:58.3 14/04/2011: GameEx will check for media insertion (may affect performance) 11:44:58.3 14/04/2011: Hiding Taskbar 11:44:58.3 14/04/2011: Is Media Center running? 11:44:58.3 14/04/2011: Checking/Creating LCD Registry values 11:44:58.4 14/04/2011: Check Media Center Exit/Start Mode 11:44:58.4 14/04/2011: Media Center Mode 2 11:44:58.4 14/04/2011: Video previews on. Ok All my roms and snaps and videos are named the same I have uninstalled FFDshow and installed the shark codecs for win7 I have put all my png and avi snaps into the snap folder in the assests directory I have pointed the gameex config to look for the snaps in the same snap folder AND I STILL DONT HAVE ANY VIDEOS!!! ARGGG!! There is something I dont understand: in the gameex config there is the option to point to snaps and video snaps. If I only point to the snaps folder I get the snaps (images). If I point to the snaps and videos folder I get nothing, it like they cancel each other out. So why is there the option to point to a video folder when it doesnt work? Its very confusing and to be honest Im getting a little stressed considering I have shelled out the money and registered both this software and emumovies. I must be doing something wrong, obviously, but I dont know what? Could it be the themes Im using? Do I have all the right options enabled in the config? I dont know!

Hi there, Im pretty new to GameEX and have read through many posts relating to these type of problems but havent been able to sort it out I can get the snaps to show up by pointing the snaps to the snap directory but when I try point to my videos folder I get nothing. I have tried combining the snaps and videos and seperating them too. Could someone please explain exactly how to set up gameex so I can see my snaps AND videos I have donated to emumovies and have downloaded the hires vids using the download tool I have the latest ffdshow and the vids play using WMP thanks Nat.

Yeah its back now. Its worrying though, becuase I sent my "donation" 4 days ago and have heard nothing back from this Circo dude at all. I checked his status and he was logged in to the site yesterday so I dont know whats going on and why my donation and my messages are being ignored....

Guys I have this problem with my imon display too and was very pleased to see this thread. However, I have tried all the things suggested here and nothing is working for me. Im running Win7 64bit. The enable/disable imon program from Soundgraph does not disable the device in the device manager, it only quits the program that runs on Windows and does therefore not resolve the problem for me at all. Not only that but if I run this enable/disable program using the launch and startup feature in gameex it hangs. The batch files route using devcon seemed to me to be the best option. I created my batch files and tested them and it works prefectly. However, when executing these batch files using the launchatstartup feature in gameex nothing happens. The batch files dont run at all. I have tried setting them to run as administrator, but the option is greyed out. I have tried creating shortcuts and running them as administrator but again nothing. What am I doing wrong??
