  1. Rygar, such a classic yet can be a bit of a pain later on. Here's a worthy score. ExedExes - 187,810 - Settings verified per first post
  2. Ok, put a little bit more effort behind this one. ExedExes - 57,875
  3. So I guess 150K isn't gonna do it? Fair enough. I played the real thing on a 60-in-1 yesterday and broke 200K. Inspired, I went back to MAME and did much, much better. ExedExes - 317,100
  4. Wow. Out of practice here, I guess. I also hate Stage 5. ExedExes - 43,800 - settings per original post in MAMEUI32 0.141
  5. Slight increase, 47,800
  6. Metal Slug, another good choice. I think this one along with some other games brought the arcades back for a little bit more life in the late 90s. ExedExes - 472,550 - settings confirmed per post #1 in MAMEUI32 0.141 (that 500K score above it was from years ago, turns out NeoGeo games save high scores I see. Please use the one with the initials, thanks!)
  7. Arkanoid - the game I thought started it all but that ended up being Breakout, right? Lowering the sensitivity from the first post there helped a lot. With that, here's my score. ExedExes - 53,720 - Settings verified as per OP using MAME32 0.141
  8. I see it, thanks! I'll be continuing to work on more games too, so I'll keep you busy
  9. Capcom released most if not all the Pang games as Buster Bros. I did come across Pang 3 many years ago and that was also fun. I also played Mighty Pang in a 6-week MAME competition in 2012.
  10. Yup, thanks for the banner! Doesn't the winners list thread get updated too every month?
  11. If you told me we were doing Galaga, I'd say no problem, I'd go Toobin-style good score on this one. Then I found out we gotta do it on Rank D. My confidence dropped, but not my score. It's more brutal on this difficulty for sure. ExedExes - 118,820 - Settings were confirmed as correctly used on MAMEUI32 0.141
  12. When it comes to shmups, I'll admit I'm more of a fan (and better at) the classics, before bullet hell games ruled the scene. Even though this was developed by Raizing, I think they nailed the more laid-back yet exciting style of the 194X series here. They added their own more advanced touches to this one. ExedExes - 1,734,250 - Settings were confirmed as correctly used on MAMEUI32 0.141
  13. Amazing #1 score on Pang there, be77. I've played this under the name it was known as here in North America, Buster Bros. ExedExes - 332,170 - Settings were confirmed as correctly used on MAMEUI32 0.141
  14. Time Pilot, a game I've known and loved forever. I've looped this one a few times before. I also play it on the Game Boy Advance as part of the Konami arcade collection. ExedExes - 152,400 - Settings were confirmed as correctly used on MAMEUI32 0.141
  15. I'll make a confession. I've NEVER played this game. DAT EAR RAPE! Otherwise, it reminds me of another Irem classic, Kid Niki Radical Ninja! Here's the first of many scores. ExedExes - 46,400 - Settings were confirmed as correctly used on MAMEUI32 0.141
  16. Shinobi is a fantastic game, I don't think I see it in high score competitions, but why the heck not? I loved the game, but for the longest time, I had no idea as to how to beat the first boss. My 10-11 year old self could not comprehend it. Then I finally figured it out and got pretty far, to Mission 4 fairly well on most runs. I had a couple of scores here because I had to get back to it. That third boss is designed to take your lives away! ExedExes - 170,240 - Settings were confirmed as correctly used on MAMEUI32 0.141
  17. Here is the War: Final Assault shirt. Just like all Atari arcade offers, you had to reach a certain goal (in this case, rank of Captain) and get the code the game gave you and send it off to Atari and they sent you back a shirt. The front has the logo and the back has a little bit more detail, in this case, the special Pentabolt symbol seen in game.
  18. Thanks again GC and all. I actually did get one of those T-shirts from Atari, but it was for the FPS-styled arcade game War: Final Assault. I still have it too! See you next month!
  19. If I had known about all this earlier, there would have been a few more months that I might have taken #1 in. I just love classic arcade games. Notice how well I'm doing at the shmup competition however, and I love them a lot more. Anyway, this is my final score. Completed Class 1! Then died somewhere in the Yukon. ExedExes - 327,188 Watch out for me on the previous month's game threads!
  20. Thanks for the warm welcome everybody. Got a better score! ExedExes - 215,109 ALMOST made it to the end of Class 1. I'll try to do that.
  21. Thanks! I also participated in the forum-wide STGT at shmups.org in 2012 as part of Team Coffer made up of other Racketboy members. I like shmups, but I have a real love for other classic arcade games too!
  22. Hi all! The name is ExedExes, I saw these forums here when I checked on the stats of the current Shoot Em Up tournament. I'm playing that in a team with Dunpeal2064, we're both from the racketboy.com forums, where I'm currently hosting a Game of the Month high score thread (for shmups) over there! I see you all have some great games going here in MAME -- Toobin is a good one. I've also played it for years on the NES. Hoping that a few days more on this game will help me to do a little better! 146,737 using default settings on MAMEUI32 0.141 I hope I am doing this right, I read the rules.
