  1. Oh, my bag (as it used to be that, you know, like a 'bag' in cards, before this 'bad' stuff came alone). Never woulda thought about doing only consoles. Definitely for the request thread.
  2. I do, and I'm assuming headkaze does, have the current version. Just downloaded it (for the second or third time) last week. And that's where I thought the config app would be listed, but nope.
  3. Well, people should fully set up things like the main emulators they're going to use first. But I do think some things in the tutorial would help being explained.
  4. Actually, I think it's called 'loading screen' something. But, it's in either Display or Tweaks. I forget so I check and look in both.
  5. Looks to me like you have a wacky path. I haven't had any loading troubles with either cmd mame, Mame32, or advancemame (once I got everything set correctly).
  6. I second this. I never liked the idea of media player libraries an all. Be much easier for music to be set up like video and pictures. This and the game lists by Mame ini are my two.
  7. I asked headkaze about this and, as he has experienced the same issue, he suggested I report it...but I don't see a thread for this: I have 'show config app' set for 'yes', but I'm not seeing it in the line-up in GE.
  8. No idea on that one. Never played. I still have list issues: it shows all the games I have in 'all mame' games, but won't show all of each category in the sub-listings. As far as I can tell, no filters are on. Very strange.
  9. Do you get snaps in any other themes? If not, it may be because they're zipped. I wanted to use titles instead and found they were zipped and weren't showing.
  10. I didn't get a game list in Mame until I set the 'favorites' path to my Mame game list ini (in your 'folders' folder within the Mame folder) and then updated the list in GE.

I'm cool with the 'deep purple' one, myself.

I thought he meant show off.
  13. It may depend on what you have the screen saver set to. For example, mine is set to play Mame games, while continuing the mp3 track I have selected for the fe.
  14. On the config app, I have yes checked. Also, I have 'use bezel in vertical games' checked, but it's not showing. And, I tried that daphne entry just for astron belt. It didn't work. 15. Thanks. How do you access the configuration menu from inside GE? I can't find it in any of the documentation, etc.
  16. I don't do a lot of set maintenance or whatever, but yeah I'd figure it'd be easier. Then again I guess if you were running clrmamepro with any certain exe, it would only recognise the roms pertaining to it, right? But if you wanted to actually find a rom in particular, yeah, much easier to be separated. And on the preset paths, I guess that would be okay. It used to be that every emu had its own folder in Program Files. Then I finally grouped them in Games. Partly, cos Windows - or is it the app - wants to install things in Program Files have I sort stuck there. But I guess doing C:\emulators would be fine. Of course, with whatever front end one has, they could also stick all their emus with it. So on Daphne, the framefile box preset, huh?
  17. Well, I just noticed this topic and thought I'd chime in, briefly. It is free. Actually, it's freer than most trial-period-free gigs. This is a weird topic, really...sorta below bitching that something free doesn't work. (hahahah.)
  18. Well, since there is automation (setting the working path sets other related paths) I thought it would set all related paths. Then if someone like yourself wanted to set it differently, they would. I'm used to everything being categorised by respective folders, so all my paths for each emu are inside the folder with that exe. Why would you set it up differently?
  19. I wasn't insulting you, Tom. The first time, some months ago, I tried to set up GE, I spent 20+ hours to no avail. I posted to the forum. No response. After five days, I emailed you. No response. The 'spe god' remark was to see if you were paying attention. And by 'really want to like GE' I meant would really like to be able to use it. Nothing leading there. Also, there are people in New York and Jersey that just cuss. They don't mean anything by it, it's just a part of their speech. To all else who've responded, my comments haven't been personal, merely colorful. headkaze: there are two fe's with managers that I've used that the games and game lists worked the first time. One was only Mame, the other was various emulators, all of which have been problematic on GE. I thought the reason to have path setters was for it to be automatic. I thought the reason for automatic processes (like the setting of related paths when selecting a working path) was to have all other related paths set automatically. With regard to Mame, the 'favorites' path isn't set. This isn't a big deal, but the framefiles I think are. It's obviously possible to have the fe find all the games in Daphne as well as the framefiles just by setting the exe. I'm just wondering why GE doesn't do these. (I mean, I've heard of people having different paths for things, but I generally can't guess why anyone would do it.) And the documentation just says you can set certain parametres to certain values, but not why. If any of those things require any kind of specialist knowledge beyond settings basic paths, then perhaps they should be classified so. Does any of that make sense?
  20. Sure thing, headkaze. I appreciate all the assistance, I really do. My responses aren't pointed in any direction but GE's author, and it's just a monumental question mark, not anything venomous. I really want to like GE for some reason. It has cool stuff. But the main features - running the main emulators - should be a one-time shot. When they aren't but are on others it really begs the question.
  21. I don't think that configuratiON menu has anything different than the manager does, it's just available from within GE so you don't have to exit and restart it. I'm not sure though cos I have no idea how to access it. And the reason I referenced MA is cos you can have all the kick ass features you want, but at the end of the day - and it shouldn't take that long, which is my fucking point (no acid, but much emphasis, here) - if it runs, then it beats the shit out of whatever else. Thing is, MA is a competitor, meaning it's apparently as complex in basic function as GE. Exe vs working path I think doesn't matter. VP and Daphne work/all games are automatically recognised and playable. How was he able to do this when run first time?
  22. Yes, I can run games from the Daphneloader fe. I meant you could just paste in your next post one of your framefile entries. I could probly figure the rest out from there. Framefile generation is supposed to be automatic, huh? Well, it did have something when I looked, originally, but they didn't have the paths that the files are in my computer. Also, It didn't show all the daphne games I have, either in the manager or in the Daphne game list when running GE. It obviously didn't find them. I'm messing around with Maximus Arcade. There are some things I like better about GE....BUT, with MA, in each emu selection all I had to do was select an exe - and boom, each one works 'right outta the fuckin box'. Daphne - first time. Visual Pinball - first time. Mame - first time. Too bad I can't combine features of both fe's.
  23. I thought you meant just in DaphneLoader and had a nasty response for Speirs in relation, but then I thought maybe you meant using it as an exe. Like using Mame32, that would make shit a lot simpler. (hint, hint to the spe god.) I tried what you said and it didn't work. You could just paste one framefile entry in GE manager. Really, why this isn't automatic I don't fuckin know. Same with the game list files for mame. (When switching mame exe's, it's very temperamental: game list...now no game list....do this (really fuckin weird intuitional thing) and game list...hey....switch...nope, now no game list.
  24. Oh. I see. You mean use DaphneLoader for the exe. I tried that way back, originally, and it just opened up DaphneLoader, vs loading the game. (Had that with Mame32, also, but I guess that got fixed or something...I dunno, but it works...anyways...) It only loads DL. Click on any other game in the list, it loads DL. But that's only with the old Daphne. It won't load games at all on the new one. Dunno....
  25. Oh. I wondered why there were 'input' settings for various FE's. I'm assuming that's where it is. I'll look.
