  1. As far as I can tell, I have the paths correct. I don't know how it selects framfiles, but it isn't doing it right. Also, why isn't it seeing all the games in the Daphne folder?
  2. popcorrin: I mostly play games by myself. (One reason I have a two-player panel is for dual-stick games.) I play in the center of it - for example, using P1 stick with P2 buttons. But occasionally I might have someone over and don't want to have to remap the controls for two-player games, so I just will use a different Mame. Which is why bkenobi's last suggestion won't work (as far as I can see), because my button presses would do actions for mine and theirs at the same time. I think there might be a batch file process or something that would change keycodes for the panel upon game load-up, I think I remember seeing somewhere someone was interested in that, but I've never done that sort of thing at all. bkenobi: by 'creating separate rom directories' do you mean in the rom path? Because it when I set the rom path (using a spot in 'emulated games' for another Mame entry), I get the rom names. They won't load, though. That brings up another thing with Mame configuration: setting the working path will automatically set the other paths in page 1. But in page 2 of basic settings, you'd think the game lists would be set for, also, as they're often in the same Mame folder. At least mine is. VP is Visual Pinball.
  3. Well, notice I did get Advancemame to work. The doc just tells you what you need to do, but if you're not familiar with cmd functions and stuff, then you won't, I didn't anyway, know to put that in the options line, and only found out by accident. Second, I have a large two-player panel. I don't like to be restricted to one side of the panel while playing some two-player games, which you can by yourself, alone, so I want a version for single player and another for two players. Also, I want different video modes for different versions. So, I'll at least have two, but maybe three or four. Having to make bats or whatever for game lists though seems a tedious thing. Hm. Game list: I thought about filters. I have 'show clones' set in GE. I have absolutely no filters set in Mame. I don't like filters. The ini's for the cmd version of Mame I'm using for GE are copied from the equivalent version of Mame32. All the games show in Mame32, but don't in GE. Dunno. Another things that's interesting is, whereas some other FE's will use Mame32 as just an exe, GE makes Mame32 go into its embedded front end. Anybody know why on this one? I still can't get VP going. What are your (or anyone else's) path settings? Lastly, say I want to use two different versions of Daphne. Do I use the same process as for any other 'emulated games'?
  4. First off, I have a log in question: I'm not erasing my cookies, I have 'keep me logged in' checked, and every time I come I have to re-log in. Why? Now to the topic: 1. I can't get advancemame running. Why do I need a regular version of Mame, also? There's not much documentation on configuration, so I set up mame, it worked. I set up advancemame, neither work. FIXED - didn't notice there needed to be a path denoted for mame roms in 'advancemame options'. 2. I want to have multiple Mame versions. I tried setting up others in 'emulated games' but they don't run. I'm obviously missing the exe path, though I tried to specify it in the 'command line'; wondering this is even available for this application. ? 3. probly a question for the Daphne folks, but I noticed I had to make framefiles for the other games that didn't automatically list. Anyone know what they are? Should I just upgrade my version of GameEx and this will be solved? 4. Also, some of the roms (which are in the rom folder, and listed in the game list ini) aren't showing in GameEx. ?
  5. I had an easier time with Atomic, actually, at least for regular Mame. I think the selection procedure for other emu's in GE is easier to get at, but have had no success with them. momaw27: not to diss anyone, merely mentioning my experience so far: it took a week and a 'bump' to get just one response to my original thread. Until yesterday's 'Daphne paths', I've had to butt in on others' thread. No worries, just curious.

    Daphne paths?

Ah, perhaps this is what Albatross meant. Thank you.
  7. No shit, you would think. None of that shit works, here. I'm beginning to think he should be paying me to use this thing with how much trouble it's been. Great interface and ideas, but a fuck of thing to get all running.

    Daphne paths?

All games run from Daphneloader. Only five show in GE. None of them run. Any ideas?
  9. blib: I orginally set it that way. Didn't work. Still doesn't work. I have romup.dat for the command line part. What else am I supposed to have?
  10. I already have Daphne set up. The all play fine from Daphneloader.
  11. I haven't even been able to figure out the right paths. Initially, I set the 'working directory' as stated above, then set the rom path to the roms in vpinmame\roms. Two things: in GE, it gave me the titles of the roms; and all it launced was VP (the editor). No tables ran. What am I missing here?
  12. ...a little bump, here........anyone?
  13. Try another directory. Although you mightve preferred to keep it at win98 for a lighter OS...at least for game stuff.
  14. But what to do about the rom path?
  15. Well, I got the GE loading thing fixed. I just re-installed. Now I have some other questions: 1. I have the whole complement of laser games in the folder. GE is only recognising five of them. Anyone know on this? 2. When I run a Mame game, I get this interminably long scrolling line cmd box. Eventually it finds the game. I have 'verify roms' off. Anyone know what this could be, or is it normal? 2a. I just copied the ini's from my Mame32 folder. Bubbles is set not to switchres. But through GE, it's switching...and not using effects. ? 3. VP: I'm not getting any pin snaps. As well, no tables will run, but I'm not sure on the paths. Does anyone know what they are for VP?
  16. It ran - but it wouldn't use the Favorites ini in the mame 'folders's folder. I set to this ini in the manager. I did get an 'all games list' and games ran. Then all of a sudden GE wouldn't load. This is the error message I get: 21:49:06.2 4/8/2007: Loading Button Data 21:49:06.2 4/8/2007: Error: Argument 'Number' is not a valid value. 21:49:06.3 4/8/2007: at Microsoft.VisualBasic.ErrObject.Raise(Int32 Number, Object Source, Object Description, Object HelpFile, Object HelpContext) 21:49:06.3 4/8/2007: at GameEx.GameEx.mainform.GetRectFromString(String rectstring, Double RatioX, Double RatioY, Boolean keepaspect) 21:49:06.3 4/8/2007: at GameEx.GameEx.mainform.LoadV2Theme(Int32 TargetWidth, Int32 TargetHeight, Boolean DoLog, Boolean JustLayout) 21:49:06.3 4/8/2007: at GameEx.GameEx.mainform.InitDirectDraw(Boolean FullScreenWindowed, Boolean nodispose, Boolean reinit, Boolean DontLoadSurfaces, Boolean SetSizingX, Int32 RefreshRate) 21:49:06.3 4/8/2007: at GameEx.GameEx.mainform.InitGameEx(Boolean reinit, String ctheme, Boolean nohideos) 21:49:06.3 4/8/2007: at GameEx.GameEx.mainform..ctor() 21:49:06.3 4/8/2007: GameEx is exiting with errors

    Emulator problem

Dude, that's over the top. I was going through the configuration utility within GE, itself, which has all the same options. Being literal, I thought CMD/Command was a title to look for in the list. (You can tell I don't do command line.) Still, in the vid, it looked like you just sort of reselected what was already there in those two boxes. So I did that, and I got a very fast squiggle of video-something, before it defaulted back to the game's start page. I dunno..... Incidentally, I haven't any longer, for about a day or so, had MAME on the start page, even though it's selected in the parametres. I then changed it so it'd be in the line-up - nothing. Changed it back - nothing. Maybe I'm just not supposed to use this.

    Emulator problem

Okay. I still don't see anything, on any of the three pages in that config menu, that says, either, CMD/Command options, or a box with -skip_disclaimer in it..

    Emulator problem

No, I saw those. But I went ahead and looked. 1) I already have no bezels selected. 2) I don't even see that other thing - but I ain't running advmame, anyway. a) it's not just vertical games - it's all games. b ) it ain't just mame - it's VP, O2EM, etc.
