  1. Hi there! I'm posting this from another computer, but later if needed I'll post any needed files. My problem is zinc. If I go to mame, then choose zinc game's list I can see the video thumbnails perfectly. If I choose zinc as stand alone emulator I can see the games, the paths are fine... but no videos displayed. First I tried setting the videos to the same ones for mame, as that's where I also point for the roms. Games work, but not videos nor snaps. Then I made sure and downloaded snaps and videos from emumovies, checked they are right there, snaps, videos and anything else... but on gameex they're not being loaded anyway :?
  2. I'll use some of those logos for my skin thanks for such a great work!
  3. Hi there Paul! As I think you won't be able to understand english, I'll rather write in spanish... as your message looks like translated by an online translator and I guess you're using a translated version of the forums If you have any doubt and you can't understand the text or don't know how to write something just drop me a message and I'll translate it for you. An online translator is not bad, but believe me that thing you posted is at least a bit difficult to understand Gameex's full of possibilities Greetings from Spain! Hola Paul!
  4. Just add some option so if a game is being played you could hit a button to play the game right now (and any other button to exit the screensaver as usual). About game title, what about placing a scroller on the bottom of the screen with the game's name on it? Sometimes it can launch games that you think "hey, what a nice game, never saw it! but how can I find it to play it?"
  5. yep, confirmed, it's still there... I left my buggy theme v4 resting for a while and got back to my arcade84 heavily modified theme v2
  6. I'm creating my own theme customized for my arcade cabinet, but I want something like arcade84, where when you are selecting mame roms you have the menu on the lower right displaying each option one below the other, and not in a bar one after another. I don't know how to change it in the theme editor. And when I tried, the dafult view was not the one I was looking on the editor, and I had to change view several times to show what I was doing on the theme editor. Is there any way to choose how many views are available of your skin, or at least fix it so only one's available and set it to default theme's view?
  7. Hi there! What about 2.891.580 ?
  8. that's a great artwork to keep on your signature congrats!
  9. Another suggestion (for theme editor/theme parsing) Allow per-item configuration options, like set default view for layouts, set if the menu bar should be a bar or a top-down options list, choose what kind of picture or media should be displayed in image1 or 2... (and add support for image3, image4...) Allow the rom list to keep selected item on a fixed position (like in a wheel, where you go up or down the wheel's moving but the item selected should always be on the middle) Allow a per-text-box full customization (each text box should be able to keep it's own text font, size, alignment...) Add a mockup or live preview system so you could check how the skin actually looks on theme editor rather than keep launching gameex to check your settings.
  10. I don't know if it was fixed anyway, here're my files CustomMenu.ini GameEx.ini log.txt
  11. I think I'm having your same error, but changing theme to v3 or v4 doesn't seem to fix it more details about my problems with theme editor on my thread
  12. Hi there! I use a modified "arcade84" skin, but as I want to make my own clean skin, I chose to start from scratch using the default as base. I'm stuck with something, though. the MENU object. On arcade84, it shows (for mame games) 4 rows, by artist, by year... but now I just see it as a bar. I can't change box size dragging, just changing the size numbers on the left. anyway, when I load the skin, the menu options shows as an horizontal bar, not as several options one below another. the game's list in arcade 84 shows as another text list with small icons on the left. on my skin it shows picture thumbnails as default. Also on image2 it shows marquees, or cabinets, or whatever... is there any way to just show one kind of content? like marquees or title screens? and some games shows background pictures too and not the standard background for the emulator. what can I do? I can't find any option to change them! I managed to change the game's list to text using gameex's change view option, the menu bar keeps showing as a bar, and not a top-down list Is there anything I can do to choose the default (and only) view for my skin? EDITED: Visual Pinball and Future Pinball won't show under templates or objects... how can I add them to the theme editor? EDITED2: Fixed. just adding them to gameex and when I reloaded the theme in theme editor they showed up this is my editor screen: here's what I my theme look like using arcade84 as base: (notice the lower right menu box, with the items on an top-down list, and not a left-right bar) here's what I get now on my new theme: (so far) EDITED: Found those backgrounds on a folder inside media/logos/backgrounds. I deleted them and now it's ok... but when I see the screen where you can select games, my background picture is there... and when I go to the main menu, it won't load. The bacground gets way too dark... and I don't know why? From the start menu, arcade selection (mame, zinc, model 2), mame submenu... I see there's no background, just black. But on the rom selection screen it loads perfectly :? ANOTHER EDIT: After reading this thread http://www.gameex.info/forums/topic/12872-bug-custom-menu-background-images-no-show/ and out of curiosity, edited theme.ini and changed version to 2. Using custom menus the background pictures problem was fixed. Maybe there's some bug on versions 3 and 4 of themes? I uploaded the theme to my cabinet and works fine... except the menu on the bottom right corner. The menu still shows as an horizontal bar and I don't know how to fix it. And the first time I launched it the view changed to something like the default theme one. Loading arcade84 sets everything right as soon as you load it, but with mine I need to enable the change view option and click several times to make it work CustomMenu.ini GameEx.ini
  13. 02.137.210 I saw this game on attraction mode, but didn't know it's name it's weird and fun managed to reach ghost town, but those fat ghost going through walls... sigh!
  14. If Iuse mame's own screen capture it places the snapshots on the snapshot folder of mame (if it does it in any other folder, I couldn't find how). then I would need to move them to another folder so I could sync them online, and again, I have no keyboard on the cabinet Besides that, using fraps lets me take screenshots or record movies easily, save them wherever I like (on a folder already marked to be synced online with google drive) and with fraps and a custom set on xpadder (snapshots on f12 key, on xpadder the combo makes 1 button change to control set 2 while pressed and then another button produces the f12 key using control set 2) I can get snapshots with the same combo for gameex, mame, nestopia, model2, zinc, future pinball... anything all them saved on the same folder, sync online with google drive and updated on local folders on my laptop and desktop pcs without needing to touch a single key EDITED: found this on a drawer... still works, so now I have a keyboard and mouse on my cabinet... kinda...
  15. Never played this game... oh well... one more to try
  16. So... I made it! I managed to raise my highscore AND take a nice snapshot on a different folder (using fraps with a xpadder combo), so googledrive would automatically upload and sync to my other computers, so here I'm now, uploading another highscore of my cabinet from my desktop pc :D 49490 !!! YEEEEEEHAAAAAA! (btw, I'm not just happy for the highscore, but being able to run fraps, teamviewer, xpadder, access to wifi, google drive and still run GameEx without losing focus... I had to remove turboshell and now on my cabinet you can see windows loading, but.. oh well, it's a minor cosmetic problem once gameex runs, everything's all right )
  17. ouch! silly me! 34.010. wrong link I edited my message to show the right picture
  18. I use both frontal blue buttons pressed at the same time to bring up tab menu, and anyway, set both flipper side nudge buttons for both snapshot and rendered snapshot, but mame places them on the snaps folder, and it's where I have all game's snapshots... it's a mess I have a full romset If I were able to choose a different path for screenshot saving... but couldn't find one
  19. maybe tomorrow LOL... I don't have trackball either, using just a joystick
  20. ...and have fun playing meanwhile
  21. this is what I used before building my cabinet. About 20 years ago I bought an old control panel, soldered all the connections to a usb microsoft gamepad and... I've been using it since them... now it's partially disasembled and waiting for a future project I have 2 cheap gamepads I plan to rip open and build 2 small 1 player-4 button controllers
  22. Hi there! I became unemployed in september, and while my economic situation is not good at all right now, my spare time grew considerably, so I convinced my wife (ok, she said no-way, but I pretended I didn't hear her LOL) to build my own arcade at the lowest possible cost. I found a spanish forum, zonaarcade, where I got some ideas and checked the average price of a full cabinet. And I got frightened with the prices... Then I though on building the cabinet myself... and my wood cutting skills told me to change my mind on that. I wanted an upright cabinet, but finally found an old table arcade, something like a half-cocktail. No glass, no controls... just the cabinet and the old arcade monitor. I just had no clue how to use that old arcade monitor, and went for an easier setup. (anyway, I had no way of connecting it to my computer without buying some expensive adapters and didn't know if it had all the pieces, how to connect it... and found at least 2 wires unsoldered without clue about where to solder them...) So I removed it, and added a 21'' crt screen. It didn't fit, so I removed the hard plastic cover... and the day after I needed to remove it from the frame and broke it. Anyway, didn't allow enought space on the inside to fit the computer so... bought another screen, this time 17''. Bought some joystick, buttons, arcade-2-usb interface, got another control board from scrapped material, painted it all, removed the inside of the coin slots as I needed all the inside to be free so I could fit an old computer there... So I bough an old dell optiplex gx280, a memory upgrade, a video card... changed the hard drive (80gb) to one I had at home of 1tb... added speakers from an old 5.1 sound system I had at home (4 speakers and the subwoofer, but I damaged 2 of the paper membranes and finally I only used 2 and the subwoofer... bought some cheap laptop coolers so I could use the usb connectors of the computer to power them and help cooling down the cabinet... and here's how it looks like now now I just need to add the vinyl stickers This is how Gameex looks on mine... using custom menu and modifying the theme arcade84 Oh, well... and this is me LOL
  23. ouch! that option I use is on other emulators, not on the mame settings :? anyway, I'mglad you made it to work
  24. ok, just a newcomer idea although it should go to features and request... what about... using a hi-score enabled mame. so, gameex can "load" the hi scores to show on gameex, and I assume gameex can "read" them someway. now. if you registered a tag like the one on my signature you have your registered name too. and even country... so: update gametag system so you can add the 3 letter signature on your games. Like mine, "helpman - HLP" (the three letters should be assigned only once, so first come first serves). add a gameex option to upload highscores. once you exit any game, gameex looks for the highscore, checks if the registered 3 letters tag appears on them, and upload it somewhere. It just needs to upload 3 letter tag and record value, so it's almost instant upload. now online just keeps something like a text file for each game uploaded (if not exists, create one) with something like the mame's rom code or game name. parses the file so no duplicate entry appears, and trim it so it just keeps, let's say, the 50 best scores for each. appearing on a text file the size would be negligible, even with 1 file per game rom. instant contest for every game! you could just use the 3 letter tag, the username tag, even display the country, or use them on a database so you could check the best players on a certain country or continent... oh boy, that would be SOOOOOOOOOO great! if anybody likes the idea feel free to post it on features requests I would do it, but lately I'm adding so many suggestions that Tom will already be mad at me LOL :D (oh no, ANOTHER suggestion from helpman -sigh!)
  25. I just tried centipede. Never played it... and I know why XD I suck at this game XD even on easy moe, 1286 points. Soooo... I won't even try to set it to hard LOL maybe on another game I'll try my luck, but centipede ... no way
