OK, so maybe that was a bit dramatic. So, I was tinkering (again..I know, I know - they always said I'd break it if I played with it too much) and I think I might have broked Ben's Repository Manager with one of my plugin WIPs. Here's how it's looking: As you can see - nil, zilch, nada. Everything's disappeared. Also, all of the different item types have disappeared from the drop drop down. Had a scootch around the Config folder - couldn't find a way to reset it. Any ideas?

Cheers dudes. Wine and peanuts ahoy.

Creating animated PNG images for GameEx
stigzler replied to Draco1962's topic in GameEx Media Projects
Just stumbled across this. Classy! I like. -
I'm tinkering with custom theme pages. I've come across an odd behaviour. It works for some emulators but not others. Here's a vid: You'll see it works for Playstation and Atari 5200, but not SNES (theme page not shown - rather a video overlays it?). Very odd, as it won't be the theme Theme.ini file or else the others wouldn't work. I think my theme file structure is correct. Also, background is set in adv emu setup. I've attached the relevant files (log represents nav back to home, select Atari 5200 Emu, back then select SNES). Any ideas, chaps? UPDATE: Also tried changing the custom background in setup wizard to one of the other system's theme pages (which I know works). Same result. Have scoured the SNES emu settings for defences to the other emus - none that I can see. Curioser and curioser... PurpleHat.zip GameEx.ini log.txt background_log.txt

Ha! Perfect + how the hell did I miss that? I'd read about changing that setting on other theme posts. On the other topic - you haven't seen my coding - it's like a butcher's dog's breakfast! I'll pm you on.

Hello chaps, I'm tinkering with theme design again (uh-oh..). I've hit a bit of a stumbling block. I'm looking to create custom module and emulator layouts, either by editing the ini's directly or via Theme Editor. I've made a copy of the "Default" theme for experiments. So I've set CustomEmulatorLayouts and CustomModuleLayouts to true (and checked in Theme.ini - all present and correct). This creates a whole load of ini's in the [ThemeName]\MEDIA folder (e.g. mostplayed_module.ini). I've moved the Title item to the top left via designer. Checked in the corresponding ini and that has changed correctly. However, when I run GameEx, it doesn't move the Title for Most Played Games. Weirdly, however, if I change the ini's directly and then open the theme in Theme Editor, this observes the changes correctly. I've tried Change View a load of times, but that doesn't move the title. I'm sure I'm missing something daft. Another weird thing - if I change _module.ini - those changes are shown in GameEx. Attached zipped test theme. Any ideas? TestFromDefault.7z

Thanks, Tom. I'll give this a proper test later on. I should have thought of testing that, soz.

Cheers t. Since the OP, have done some experiments. Nothing to do with the hardware - all's good. I followed a previous post (can't find link on this client pc) and did the following: Set Verify Roms to True Set Only Existing Roms to False Disabled touchscreen I've attached the log from this (all seems well on initial glance apart from an exception following processing NPlayers.ini) This didn't solve the problem. So I reversed 1 and 2 back and then added "tempest" and "tempest3" to the 'Do not filter these roms' list. That worked. However, it's left me worrying that the gameslist routine is missing roms. If I wasn't specifically looking for Tempest, I wouldn't have known it's not there. Anyone any idea what's going on with this? log.txt

After all these years, I feel like a noob asking this question! My recent visit to an arcade ignited a passion to get Tempest up and running on my machine. I've got mame 0.198 installed and the associated 0.198(split) set. I've re-run the GameEx Refresh Mame List, but I can't find Tempest in my games list. In settings, I've got Only Working and Allow Imperfect (terms from memory) ticked. Are there any logs to explore why Tempest isn't included in the final list? Attached my GameEx.ini GameEx.ini

Evenin. I just had to share this with my old homies. Been over to Leeds today to visit "Arcade Club." 3 floors of old-school, new-old-school and Japanese arcade madness. Seriously - I wondered around in a daze + 5 hours felt like 1. And they served Brew Dog Punk IPA! At last the UK has something awesome. They tried it a while ago in the smoke with the Heart of Gaming, but I think that flopped. They have another two in Blackpool and Bury, Manchester. Sorry @Tom Speirs, I know you're 'darn sarf' but if you're ever up this way ('ooop norf') give me a shout and I'll take you on at Tempest... Inevitable link and photos: https://www.arcadeclub.co.uk/ Oh, and they had these in the bogs: a) Even the deodorant was 80s... b) Instead of darkened room full of sweaty adolescents, it was one full of sweaty middle aged men... (a bit like Parliament)

What a great augmentation. I'd take this for a spin if my cab had a pc in it (released the magic smoke on the mobo yesterday - oops).

Ah. Apologies - but that really does sound like a bit of an edge case... I might take a look over the next few months, but don't hold your breath on that one.

Hi. I feel bad about not supporting my p!ugins. Truth is, just so stretched for time. How did you get on with this? I'm happy to dust off my repo for this and setup a testing environment if required. You'd have to be patient though... @Draco1962 thanks for filling in buddy.

What a good point. Why have I spent all this time and money on tech that outstrips the moon landing gear when all I want it to do is play Pong? (Which I never play because I'm too busy building the thing to play it on) Bonkers.

Dayyuummm... Kudos to those of you who backed this thing. It performs really well: Now, need to set up my ebay watch to scoop up those unwanted xmas presents, rip her open and transfer her to an original shell... Oh yeah - and Happy New Year and all that..

@madmic - apols for not replying. I'm not actively supporting MarqueeMasher anymore, but on this, you just click the grey rectangle under each P or S column and choose the folder where your matched marquees are situated. Hope helps

It really may be worth waiting, though. I've just quit my job and looking to work on my new app full time (ish). Should be 3-6 months. There won't be any CPWizBiz>NewApp export - so you'd have to start again with individual game controls.
-
Heyup all. Not sure what was happening with that link, but I've just tried it and it works fine my end: https://magoarcade.org/wp/cpwizbiz/ There are a series of vids around this here: However: CAUTION: CPWizBiz is no longer being developed or maintained. I wrote this when I started learning coding and as such, it's a bit shonky. I think it will still work, but I do not support it. I'm working on a new piece of software that includes a controls viewer and I'm hoping to make it compatible with all the major front ends (so you can use your FE of choice and use my software as the controls viewer). It should work on 64-bit systems. Hope helps.

Couldn't they just bury them all in the desert?

Has anyone setup GameLoader games (TTX etc) succesfully in GameEx?
stigzler replied to Endprodukt's topic in General
Gameloader just injects some code into the game exe. He could just update his exe with gameloader whilst still using TypeXtra, which I know dovetails well with GameEx. There's even a GameEx specific setup guide for TypeX in the documentation. -

@Endprodukt Download here: https://magoarcade.org/wp/typextra/ The real trick is your file set. Get a good one.
