Is it the Trebuchet MS font that is the issue? The log doesn't say, but it is the only one listed in his GameEx.ini.

Happy New Year all.

arcade edition GameEx AE not working well with AMD Processor??
RedDog replied to Trey Andrews's topic in General
Video problems are often a result of missing codecs. You might try the LAV filters hosted by GameEx if you haven't thus far. -
Do you have more than one Mame executable set up on your PC? Any chance you are using one to test outside Mame and another configured in GameEx?

MAME GameEx system pack - Installing latest version of mame
RedDog replied to zakvilneuv's topic in General
@zakvilneuv Glad it was helpful. -
You may be able to just put your old CustomMenu.ini back in place and then enable custom menus to get your menus back. I suppose you could have an error in the CustomMenu.ini, but I would be surprised if anything in that file was the cause of your crash.

MAME GameEx system pack - Installing latest version of mame
RedDog replied to zakvilneuv's topic in General
@zakvilneuv The installer validates the set by checking for the very first rom in the set, 005.zip. If you don't have it, it errors. I assume since you stated your set is not complete that the rom is not present. If you still want to give the System Pack a try just create a 005.zip dummy and place it in your set before trying the installer. If that is indeed the cause of the problem, you should be fine. However, like you recognized, the system pack has assets for every game regardless if you have it in your set or not. Since your set is far from complete, you may be wasting a fair amount of extra space. On the other hand, if you expect to add games in the future, you will likely already have the images. -
Why you sneaky boy. Here we thought we were being all clever.

I tested this sort of setup with NeoGeoCD to double check that it would work and could only get it to work without the quotes on the first parameter. For example: 3 Count Bout\3 Count Bout.iso "3 Count Bout" Aero Fighters 2\Aero Fighters 2.iso "Aero Fighters 2" Aero Fighters 3\Aero Fighters 3.iso "Aero Fighters 3" Aggressors Of Dark Kombat\Aggressors Of Dark Kombat.iso "Aggressors of Dark Kombat" Where the first portion outside the quotes is the folder\filename and the portion inside the quotes is the name of the game that GameEx will display.

As I mentioned above, you can only dedicate the front end to an emulator in the Setup Emulator Section. You would have to set up Daphne in that section (and to be honest, I am not sure how that would be done, if it can be done. I have not tried it myself).

And since the file names for each of the games are all the same and are housed inside separate folders, won't he have to include the folder name with the file name parameter in the mapfile? I cannot think of another way of doing it myself...

I've tried to manually change features from time to time within the config file for GameEx Arcade, but it generally didn't do anything; so I am surprised that this works. I was not aware. Good call. If this option is intended to work with GameEx Arcade, it really should be added to the Setup Wizard GUI. Users should not need to manually edit a config file.

In GameEx, yes. The parameter is called Enable/Disable Features > Fix to Emulator and can set the front end to be dedicated to one emulator in the Setup Emulator Section. In GameEx Arcade Edition (which I assume you are using), so. This might not be a bad idea for a feature request though...

access different steam accounts without leaving gameex
RedDog replied to cesar quijada's topic in General
Sorry, that functionality does not exist within GameEx. You can set up one login and password and GameEx will attempt to log in to that account when it is first launched so that it can show and access the list of games. You can request the feature be added, but to be honest this is the first time I have seen anyone request something like this in the last few years.- 2 replies

Can't find how to configure my controls for games (IPAC)
RedDog replied to zakvilneuv's topic in General
So, it sounds like you are asking if there is some sort of universal interface that will let you bind your IPAC binds to all of your emulators. Sadly, there isn't one. Considering all of the emulators that are out there, this would be a tall order to fill. I remember some time ago when I went through all of my emulators to set up my gamepad. I ended up creating an excel spreadsheet just so I could track what buttons were reserved or unusable in each so I could figure out a player1 setup. Sorry to say that I don't have that excel sheet anymore, but there is also a pretty good chance that some of the emulators I am using will be different than yours...so different requirements. It is a bit of work trying to figure out some sort of universal binding setup so that when you go from emulator to emulator, there is some sort of consistency...but it is probably something you will need to just work through. Also, save your notes on the control setup somewhere. I myself am not looking forward to having to redo my setup, but as some point I will need to since I have added some emulators since I did it the first time. -
@dschulpius I have two XboxOne controllers and transmitters and they do work pretty darn good. The only negative I have found is that the Windows drivers have some minor flaws. One I found is that button assignments for navigating the GameEx menu are off in Windows 7. For some reason, windows switches the select and back button I assign. You can work around it by figuring out the right combo to program so that the combo you want works, but it is annoying when setting up. I do not think I have had any trouble with Windows 10. Do keep in mind that you usually have to buy rechargeable batteries separately.

I'm not sure how you got that impression from me, but you missed the mark. I was wondering if using the old executable might have resolved some issue in other files it interacts with. If that is the case, then not only might your setup be fixed, but it might give Tom some differences to compare with in the code. Even if one person is the only one experiencing an issue, I assure you that the people who help out here would like to get them fixed up. Some issues are just more difficult to sort out. Good catch with trying another executable though.

@Evilforces I am curious about what would happen if you put back the 15.04 (or 15.05) executable now and tested a delete again. Would you mind giving that a go?

Joystick Exit Not Working After Latest 15.04 Update
RedDog replied to TheRuralJuror's topic in General
@Tom Speirs Is this something you would plan to try and make an adjustment for within GameEx so that any button combination on the XBoxOne controller and Windows 10 will work as an exit trigger? I only ask in case someone else brings up the same question later on. The Guide button is certainly a great alternate option. -
Joystick Exit Not Working After Latest 15.04 Update
RedDog replied to TheRuralJuror's topic in General
@Tom Speirs I was able to replicate the issue as well, but I think it is only related to XBoxOne controllers on Windows 10. First test was a XBoxOne controller / GameEx 15.05 / Windows 10 and I could not get a button combination on the controller to exit. Second test was an iPAC2 joystick / GameEx 15.05 / Windows 10 and the exit combination worked fine. Third test was an XBoxOne controller / GameEx 15.05 / Windows 7 and the exit combination worked fine there too. Side note: I use an XboxOne Wireless Adaptor if it matters. I did not test the XboxOne controllers via usb cable. I've attached my files for the failed test in case they help. I attempted the exit button combination a few moments after running the SNES game. log.txt CustomInput.ini GameEx.ini -
Joystick Exit Not Working After Latest 15.04 Update
RedDog replied to TheRuralJuror's topic in General
Hey TheRealJuror, please do us a favor and attach the actual gameex.ini file. The way quotes work in the forum sometimes screws up config posts (which it did on yours). Also, it is always a good idea to attach the log.txt file as it provides some additional background info that can be helpful (such as PC specs, OS, etc). Thanks. -
Cool. Glad it was helpful. Check back if you have any other questions.
