  1. Okay, here goes I guess. This theme is ONLY for vertical monitor orientation. Horisontal looks like a joke. Enjoy the mindbending animated backgrounds! http://rapidshare.com/files/159481057/EMPH...CAL_V4.zip.html Emph
  2. Yes. Very nice work. Emph
  3. Headkaze: Sorry 'bout that. I wanted to create from .png files. Emph
  4. And the solution is... AdvanceComp: http://advancemame.sourceforge.net/comp-readme.html Emph
  5. I would like to create an nice MNG file in 640x480 (320x240 would also work). Any app you can recommend? All the apps I've found so far can output .mng files, but they look like crap in MNG player. Also, they aren't completely compatible (tested with AdvanceMenu as well). Apps I've tried so far include: Gif2MNG ImageMagick (very nice app though) XnView Glito Emph
  6. Welcome back. Sorry about your job. Emph

    New Setup

I run GameEx in vertical mode on my EGRET II. But I don't have a dedicated computer for GameEx (I will, but that's in the repair shop) yet, so I don't run Windows rotated, I just let GameEx rotate. And I don't run it in 480p, but in 480i, so I don't get any warnings. What is your video chip, AVI, nVidia or other? I'm running Omega drivers on an ATI 9700 onboard chip (Laptop) for your reference. Unless you use your computer for other stuff than GameEx, I see no reason to run Windows in tate mode. Emph
  8. How do I set my theme to use "emubak.avi" instead of "emubak.png"? It works flawlessly for "startbak.avi" and "bak.avi" btw. Is this a bug? Edit: I opened up my .ini file (gameex.ini) and replaced all references to emubak.png with emubak.avi, but still no luck. It's like the .png is chached in GameEx or something. Emph
  9. I found my own solution (just a theory for now). I connect my J-Pac to the secondary adapter and as the computer boots, it doesn't send any video to it (I can set this in my BIOS). Then as windows starts up, I can use a Macro app to perform the following: Turn on display 2. Start GameEx. When I turn the computer off, the second display *should* be(I haven't tested this yet) disabled once again. I guess AutoHotKey will do it. Emph
  10. Does anyone know if there's a way to run the boot process in an arcade-friendly res? I know that ArcadeVGA can do it, but is there a software way? The only option I can think of is that you have a card with two adapters, so you can set the PC to boot up using screen 1 (default) then run Soft15kHz (when Windows has loaded) on screen 2 and then enable screen 2 as GameEx starts. This would leave you with a blank screen on your arcade monitor (harmless) until the correct resolution is loaded. What do you think? Wouldn't it be cool to have this (enable second screen on launch) as an option in Instant Sheller? Should be implementable, right? Or is there an easier way? Emph
  11. Very cool, Tempest. Emph
  12. What theme are you using? Try running with a 640x480 theme first, then work you way down to even lower res'. Emph
  13. Really nice update, Tom. Thanks. Emph
  14. Street Fighter 2 uses CPS1 hardware that outputs this resolution: http://www.mameworld.net/maws/romset/sf2ja It really looks like widescreen doesn't it? You should try some other game. Emph
  15. What game is it? Emph
  16. Hey, who said submitted? It's just a little teaser. On another note, Tom, how about upping the ante a bit on the competition? The winner can submit a feature request that gets bumped up really high on the todo-list? I would really like to see scrolling backgrounds sometime soon. Emph
  17. My new vertical theme is coming along nicely. Don't think this'll have a big chance in the competition (most users don't rotate their screens I think+) as only MAME, Raine and some PC games support true vertical mode (or as the shmup community calls it "TATE"). Here's the loading screen and the snap.png for theme selection: It has what I personally use with a vertical cab, and if someone has suggestions for other backgrounds, please reply in this thread. Emph
  18. Blue Glass is very slick and nice for horisontal gaming. I'm currently working on a vertical screen-only theme that I like very much (only support for MAME and vertically oriented (TATE mode PC games like Raiden III and such). I don't know how many will dig it though outside the shmup guys of course. It will look crap on a horizontal screen. Emph
  19. Steel Saviour looks great: http://www.steelsaviour.com/ It does not work in Vista though. Emph
  20. That will be great, yes. I also hope he'll catch on to my idea of scrolling backgrounds (see feature requests-thread) if that's possible. Emph
  21. Hey, thanks. That helps a lot. Now I know I can forget about the idea, since my theme is Vertical Only (only MAME kinda). However, it didnt work for my PC game emu setup. But never mind, the idea I had was for ALL screens. Emph
  22. Okay, tried both (basically the same) methods and none of them works for me. Well, then back to "the hard way" of skinning. Thanks anyway. Emph
  23. Thanks for your replies. I'll try both approaches and report back. What I've done before authoring this thread is trying to enable both inside the Theme Editor. Emph
  24. I've tried asking this in two other (not mine) topics already, but I don't get an answer so I guess perhaps this thread won't be ignored as well. How do you get the Mod Foreground picture to show in the theme like in greatflash's latest theme? You guys aren't holding out on me because of the theme competition, right? Emph
  25. Hey greatflash, how do you get the foreground image to show up outside the theme editor? A short step-by-step please? I can select the image fine in the editor, and it shows up, but it won't show up in GameEx. Or is there some new display option for GameEx that I've overlooked? Emph
