My cab was doing the same thing and I cant remember for the life of me what I changed. I think it might have been the alphablend videos option in gameex advanced setup. Try that. Ill see if I can remember what I did.

I added somemore completed databases to the post above.

It doesn't look like many people care much, but I made another one. This is based of of the .119 list. It should be a little more accurate since the categories weren't combined before hand. Your right bkenobi, this one took quite a few hours. It was much harder with all the extra categories, and it didn't have the game name listed right next to them like you so kindly did. Nologic, there is a txt file with the list of categories and what they changed to in the zip if you want to make the macro. I'm not sure of the format you need it in so hopefully that will do. Notes: Added Categories: Lightgun Rhythm Unchanged: I didn't change these because there is more than one type of game in there so unless someone wants to fix each game separately this should be left alone. Mini-Games Misc. I also split up the Shooter category to Shooter and Shooter Flying There is not that many sports games total. maybe 350 or so. But I was thinking in the next revision we could put "Team Sports" (football soccer baseball and etc.) and "Other Sports" (Skiing, Skateboarding, Swimming, Ballards, etc.) Or something like that. How hard will your macro be to change nologic? my_categories.zip

Is the log file you showed us for mame or mame32? It shows mame32 directories.... If you want us to help you get mame working you have to show us the regular mame log file.
-
Wasn't mame32 working properly? Why are you showing us the configuration of mame32. or am I missing something?
-
If you audit them through gameex it says no games found?
-
Actually yours is the one I used! I know I downloaded yours a while ago. But recently I downloaded all the new files for the hell of it and somehow I opened yours instead of the new one I downloaded.
-
Sounds good, it only took maybe an hour at the most but a few seconds definitely sounds better. Id like to get some ideas on what people think though because while I think its alot better than before, there is too many shooters. I was thinking maybe have flying shooters like 1942 and platform shooters or something like that? The rest are pretty manageable.

I made this to compliment the new databases we have been working on. It should clean up your mame catagories quite nicely. I did the best I could to keep it with the allgame catagories, but im sure not everything is accurate. The original catver.inin would have something like this: 3countb=Fighter / Versus (Street Fighter) 64streej=Fighter / 2.5D (Double Dragon) So I searched allgame for the street fighter. It was listed as Fighting. Double Dragon was listed as Action. So I did a search of all the text "Fighter / Versus (Street Fighter)" and replaced it with "Fighting" and all text that was "Fighter / 2.5D (Double Dragon)" was replaced with Action The only catch is I did this with an older 1.09 catver.ini by accident unfortunately. So any of you that must have the newest version might not be happy. I also didnt realize until it was too late that it replaced some text in the actual rom name for a few of the Soccer games only. So any soccer game that had the text "soccer" in the rom name wont show up under any category although it will still be in your mame list. You will have to rebuild your mame list to see the new cats, just rename your old catver.ini to catver.old (located in the "gameex\data" directory) and put this new one in the same place. Let me know how you all like it. If I get some good feedback Ill look into making a new one with the newest available catver and no mistakes Leave suggestions for future builds too! EDIT: in case anyone looks at the size, the original file was 305k before editing the cats. So it has most of the games compared to the one that came with gameex 285k CatVer.zip

Try a PM, maybe he has email notification of PM turned on.

Yea, the dbcache file is what the (something) was. I couldnt remember what it was called.
-
Thats probably similar to what I was talking about. I noticed that after I filled in the databases completely and replaced the old ones. I had the same problem with tennis in racing and Mortal kombat in traditional and etc. It seemed to be the same games in the same wrong places. Deleting the master data didnt work that time, so I manually deleted extra stuff as explained in my previous post. That seemed to work. But for all I know next time I load up gameex it will pull the wrong info again. Hopefully not. Anyways, if you suspect something is in the wrong category, go to the gameinfo page and it will show the proper category. You dont have to exit gameex and open the database. The page that has the view cart title etc. It should say the proper category up there.

SpyDIRmaN: Did you try deleting the game data in the gameex advancedconfig > ADMIN > Delete all ? Try that and also go to the data\emulators folder of gameex and I believe you should see emu1.map emu1.(something) emu2.map emu2.(something) Just delete them all. Gameex will rebuild it all the next time you go to those emus. See if that helps.

Oh ok, I thought I looked for virtua cop in the main list and it was not there.
-
Ok, I wasnt sure if someone made a quick fix or something. Im going to try adding those to the do not filter list. Maybe that will work.

I finished up these tonight. They are completed with correct info to the best of my knowledge. Ill leave the other ones up in case someone wants them. I noticed after upgrading to the newest model 2 emu that it doesnt show all the new games that are supported. Does Gameex use the mame version to build this list as well, or is there a set list for model 2 and zinc set aside somewhere that I can change?
-
Im going through the genesis database to fill in whatever I can and noticed that there are a few games that have a different Goodname from actual goodname.... Whats that all about. One example is Goodname = Cyber-Cop realname = corporation I played the rom and its definately called cybercop! I also noticed that most of the games not filled in (for this database at least) are listed as (Cancelled) The few of those "cancelled" that I checked, I didnt happen to have a rom for it... Anyways, the bottom line is, Im going to import the missing categories from all game whenever available, and im going to do it with the good name since that seems to be what the actual game is. For the most part they should be considered complete without the extra importing since there is very few real world cases that a game someone has would be missing the info. From what I see anyways.

Is there a database floating around somewhere for raine by chance? Does gameex create one for the mame list? maybe we could just point it to that?
-
Thanks for the SNES stu, you didnt have a problem with it? Well, in case anyone else has a problem with the new databases, go to the advanced config > Admin > Delete all game data. That fixed my problem. They are all loading properly now. I like them MUCH better! Gameex probably had the category list cached somewhere and it pulled up the new categories and used the old list? Who knows. When I get time i might start filling in all the empty categories. At least for the emus I use.
-
I think there is an option also on the speed of the snapshots. Put it to slowest. That should allow you to browse the list easier without waiting for the snap to show up.
-
I did test the turbografx after restarting gameex. Maybe it didnt load them properly the first time. Otherwise what could I do on my end that would mess that up?
-
I'm not sure how to set up queries. Its not that hard to just enter the data in the table. But I don't know what category most of the games are, I could pull them from the old categories, but some of them have 3 different categories listed, and I don't know which would be most appropriate (the new categories also add "shooter" "traditional" "Puzzle" and whatnot which were all labled different before) . Its also a lot more time consuming. I wont be home till Sunday night anyways, so I will try and fill one completely and see what happens if stu or nologic or someone doesn't have a better answer before then.
-
I didnt have time to test it too much, but I checked the turbografx database which I think had 1 empty slot towards the end and most of it came up properly. So we might have to manually fill in all the spots the tool does not fill in.
