They emulate those particular games much faster than mame does. Yes they use the same roms, and yes gameex should integrate those emulators seamlessly into the mame list.
  2. I think its a registered version only feature too. Not sure if you registered.

I just tried them myself, either the tool is not importing the info right, the xml files are not right, or gameex doesnt like the new categories. Because they are completely wrong! I went to nes and tried racing and I dont think 1 racing game ended up in there! Tried racing in N64 and got tennis and all kinds of stuff! And Mortal Kombat is considered traditional already? I hope I didnt do something wrong. I was thinking maybe all the slots that didnt get filled in from the tool have to be filled in (I noticed it didnt fill in all games, mostly japaneese stuff)? Is that possible?

I think thats all of them. Can you try the Super Nintendo stu? Id really like to have that one done. Most of the others seemed to load quite a bit except for the Odyssey's MDB. They were empty anyways. EDIT: Check Page 3 of this thread for any databases that are completely filled in. _Console__Microsoft_Xbox.zip _Console__NEC_TurboGrafx_CD.zip _Console__Nintendo_GameCube.zip _Console__Nintendo_NES.zip _Console__Panasonic_3DO.zip _Console__Philips_CD_i.zip _Console__Philips_Odyssey_2.zip _Console__Philips_Odyssey.zip _Console__Sega_32X.zip _Console__Sega_CD.zip _Console__Sega_Dreamcast.zip _Console__Sega_Genesis.zip _Console__Sega_Master_System.zip _Console__Sega_Saturn.zip _Console__SNK_Neo_Geo_CD.zip _Console__SNK_Neo_Geo.zip _Console__Sony_PlayStation_2.zip _Console__Sony_Playstation.zip _Console__NEC_TurboGrafx_16.zip _Console__Nintendo_N64.zip

You missed the part about creating a new category in the instructions... I was just renaming the old one. I checked out what you did and noticed I had to rename then ADD a new empty one called category. Anyways im almost done with the consoles. But super nintendo only imported about 5 games from the database. If I opened it up all the games were there.

Ill do those databases tonight when I get home. I never really worked with access. All I did was open the table. right click on category, select rename, type in Multi Category - press enter. Close the database which asks to save and I do. Then try and load the file in your tool. Am I doing it the wrong way?
  7. I forgot to mention, you should copy the folder (with the files) over from the network. not the files only. Otherwise it wont update when new files are added to the folder. Maybe do it in small chuncks. rename roms to roms2 then make another folder called roms (which you transfer to the briefcase) then move game 1 - 500 from roms2 for example and click update. Then the next day or when its done, 501 - 1000 click update on the briefcase. and etc. that way you dont need a continuous wireless connection. Thats probably how I would do it anyways.

That database worked, but when I pressed update MDB at the end it said "problem saving changes".
  9. Oh, try it with a small folder first to see how it works before you copy all your roms over wireless... bleh
  10. Well, it works with any file. If you decide you dont want to use syncback here is all you have to do for briefcase.... Go on the computer you want to have updated periodically. (your cab in this case) If you keep your roms on c:\ then go there and file>new>briefcase Name it roms or whatever you want it to be called. Windows sees it as a folder basically and this will probably be where you will keep your roms while gameex uses them. Now all you have to do is go to the network and drag and drop the roms from your main computer in there. It has to load them all from your main computer on the network the first time. (you cant just load the ones you have on the cab because thats where it will try and update from in the end) Anytime you cange the files on the main computer just go to the cab, right click on the briefcase folder and select update all. Any file that changed or is new or removed on the main machine will also be changed in the cab. It should pop up a window that says what is being done before it runs in case there is something you dont want changed. If you need more help, let me know. Its really very simple though.
  11. Did you try the microsoft briefcase? Thats its whole purpose. syncing files between computers.

The LDB file goes away when I close the fuzzytext tool. It reapears everytime I try and load the database again. It only does it after modifying the database to multi category.

I am having a problem.... I open the database in access 2003. Change Category to Multi Category. Close access which asks me to save the file. I do. Now when I load it into your tool, a .ldb file appears on the desktop and the tool tels me Unsuported format Category. I dont know why the LDB file is appearing I think it is locking the database somehow because it wont let me change anything in the database afterwards. If I try without changing anything in the database it wont give me any error and wont do anything.
  15. Thanks! I hope its helpful to some people. I know I hate having tons of the same thing cluttering up the list!
  16. I couldnt fine one that was filter with no clones so I made one. I just went down the list of clones and deleted the entries. I tried to keep the english versions of the game if it said that the japan version was good and english a clone. I'm going to make one with no adult games also for those that have little ones. EDIT: I fixed the original noclones a little. I took out the "demos" that did nothing. No porn added... I took out everything I could find. Dont hold me to it though! If it sounded or looked questionable from the screenshots I checked it out. rain_noclones_50.5.zip rain_noclones_no_porn_50.5.zip

Wouldn't this be copywrite infringement? Unless they just happened to make the same game different between systems. Seriously though how many games would end up like that. And how many people would actually notice that the description is wrong. I bet most people don't even play half of the games they have. Either way, thats why they are beta. Maybe have a sticky feedback thread where people could say hey! this game is not correct. Then that game could be changed with the correct info that is already available, and a new DB released. I don't know, just a thought.

Id be happy to help with whatever I can, although I would need detailed directions on what to do. If you have 4 cores to work with then run 4 instances of your program. make 4 copies of the text file if you need. What processor(s) is it?
  19. There is no need, the m2loader works fine with the newest version. I just had to manually set up the config file for the emulator to force full screen even though it clearly states dont touch those settings in the config file . The loader was not working until I did that.

  21. on the start menu > gameex > runlastgame.bat Do that first and see what happens. It may give you some kind of error we can work with. If you cant see an error because it closes to fast, right click on it and select edit. make a new line at the bottom that says pause. Save it and run it again.
  22. What kind of files are they if there is no extension on them!? If there really is no extension, try putting *.* in the filter list
  23. Actually you shouldn't rename the emulator.exe to m2loader. Gameex somehow knew it wasn't the right executable and overwrote it with the original m2loader. I was able to do it by using the runlastgame.bat only
  24. Is it possible to move mame to an emulator group without making it a regular emulator?
  25. Well, it seems to be that the m2loader gameex creates needs the emulator to be forced in fullscreen. I added autofull=1 to the model2 ini and it seems to be working now. The in game setting for that did not change the ini for me in case someone else runs into this problem. Why does gameex need the m2loader anyways, I renamed the emulator.exe to m2loader.exe while testing and ran "run last game" and it worked great.
