Other than polishing/fixing what we already have, Im quite keen to work on V3 themes next. I would just like to point out the whole point of V3 themes is not about better skinning. I've never really been into it. The idea is to have a better user interface, more like Vista Media Center than then MCE. Probably only skinning will be just to replace the images, and custom backgrounds as with V1 themes. It will allow two images to be dispplayed, and eventually it should allow browsing the list by images instead of just text list. Basically the menus move to the top in a horizontal line, and will probably be scrollable. This allows two images to be displayed, ant it has the potential for more menus to be added, such as "view by list/biew by image" Im probably going to ccode the whole positioning system for objects and font sizing from scratch too, this will mean everything should look the same regadless or res and oritentation. HK should be pleased about that

Just to go back on topic, what you need to do is use "net use" with the username and password options. Assuming Windows home server is not so stripped down that it wont allow that. You save this as a .bat file and have gameex run it at startup. Something like this net use k: \\server\c$ password /user:username The other option is to set up a user on the server with the same username and password as you use on your desktop, then it will keep t he mapping that way. If you dont have a password on your desktop that wont work.

Aha, bribes! That helps I must be getting old though, id finding it harder to read long posts. Eventually Ill have to start priting them out first Seriously Bkenobi is right, for MAME GameEx knows if the system is horizontal and vertical, and gameex displays it accordingly. At the timeof implenting all MAME snaps and vidoes available where encoded in the right aspect ratio. For emulators GameEx displays them proportionaly. Maybe thats not working right. Are you saying your using GameEx with the screen rotated? Like I said I might be getting old but I dont entirely follow what you said. Perhaps if you post or send me the video it might help?

What sort of controls system do you have setup in GameEx, DirectInput, IPAC, Joystick?

This is a GameEx bug, its for me to fix. So yeah, try the exe.

For your info, font issues should be better in latest release of GameEx Also the arrow thing thats to do with the latest release too. It only displays arrows now if the page can be scrolled. Supposed to make things more inuitive.

Not sure about the third monitor either, but a GameEx plugin could deffinitly do this. Or maybe I could just make GameExtender "Better". What could I do to it to make it more usable?

Not so keen on those but the first national lampoons vacation should proably go into my favs list too.

Thats probably pretty close to mine too. There is too many though. Howevery, some movies I can still watch over and over again, and although there not my favourites Id have to rank them as so as there still very watchable. Mostly comedies are like that. So Id have to add American Pie (First 3) and Shawn of the Dead, although in terms of favs pretty much same as HK. EDIT: Like to add Dune (Dino D version) and Breakfast Club. Perfect movies for when bunking off School back in the day EDIT 2: Reminder to self: Buy Dune when it comes out on Blu Ray

No worries Brian, you deserve a rest. I would not ask, its just one of those things that could actually save us all time.

Hey Brian, BK and all. Im still seeing a lot of the same old questions asked on the forum over and over again, some of them are already in the FAQ, but not all. I know I've been doing support longer than anyone here so it probably gets to me most It may not bother you guys too much. I dont know. But if you think anything should be added to the FAQ please add it to the sticky on the forum, thats what its meant for, then Ill update the site. And if you can lay it out in Q. A. format as on the main site, that would be awesome. Thanks. You know generally this could be done with a GameEx plugin probably pretty easily. What exactly are you looking for it to do (ie spec).

By the way, its really only designed to run off a hard disk, I think yourll have a lot of problems because it will try to write to the dvd. Basically it does need to be installed to work. I could make changes so it didnt need to do it, but like I said Im not going to. EDIT: Im not saying it wouldnt be cool, Im just saying its not a good idea for the project.

Im not Naive, your assuming things. I cant stop someone doing something I dont want them to. Unless there legit and I can get legal. Like I said if its for personal use theres no need to do it, as its pretty easy to copy over a gameex install. The only benefit would be if you were to put on someone elses pc, which is not for personal use. Hence why I am not happy with it.

Yeah, if roms are on the disc I dont approve of this. Whether its personal or not is irrelevant. If it really is personal then there no reason you cant install it on each PC. EDIT: If I thought it was going to be benneficial Id do it myself.

Like I said there are issues with the latest versions of FFDSHOW (ie your video codecs) and gameex. This is in the FAQ. You need to use the version of FFDSHOW on the GameEx web site, or turn off the audio.

Thats actually a different issue. That issue is caused by recent versions of FFDSHOW which have a bug that makes it not work with GameEx.

Hi Beaps, I think this got confused. It looks like your using the option to run on launch to load the video. This is not how you do it. To load a video on startup you use the setting under "Multimedia". Startup video file or folder with videos in.
