I cant duplicate this, it works fine for me both using wmp and file tag mode and different playlists in WMP Mode. Can you post your log and gameex.ini and ill take a look. I think there was a problem in an earlier version of GameEx like this, but in my tests its working fine for me.

Yeah, its fairly complete, but not perfect. It does not support info, but the box cover arts go into the Media/Dvd folder. The art needs to be jpg and need to be prefixed with BOXART_. e.g "BOXART_Batman.jpg". GameEx will also attempt to automatically download boxart, but it does not alwayts get it right.

Also, GameEx can automatically do this for you if you set the hide desktop option under Enable/Disable features.

The registered version of GameEx does have a DVDs on disk feature which will play dvd's in folder structure (not ISO), and display cover art. If your looking for something better than Media Center Vista is really the best HTPC software out there at the moment by far. Although I had problems myself getting it to display the DVD info for ripped dvds (I own the DVDs) using the DVD Library. Again it does not support ISO's, and since it does not show the info either you might be better off with just GameEx or Media Portal.

It does it by default if you dont want to setup an advanced config. Its buttons 1-4 held down plus left and up.

A: When GameEx launches a game (Arcade/Console ROM, PC Game/Application, etc.), it keeps track of the process that was spawned. When that process ends, GameEx assumes that the you are done playing that game and it's time to return to the front end. The problem is that if a loader is used to launch a game (Daphne Loader is a classic example), that process launches the actual game in a new process and closes. The expected result is that the game is playable. However, GameEx doesn't know anything about the new process. The solution is to either launch the game directly without the loader or modify the loader, if possible, to stay active until the game has closed. The other solution if you still want to use the loader is a little more complex. You need to create an advanced emulator configuration ini file and specify it for use with the emulator. Copy an existing one (normally located C:\Program Files\GameEx\CONFIG\EMULATORS) and in the wait for processes section specify the process name of the actual game (this is the name that shows under processes in task manager). This tells GameEx not to exit until the actual game process has finished.

What particular keys are you talking about that are N/A?I know Play/Pause is marked is N/A but if your remote can send this key it will work, and Im not aware of any numpad keys that are default controls. Only the directional keys, but you can also use the arrow keys.

See my post for the "Default controls" assuming custom controls mode is not set the regular page up/page down and regular volume control key codes will work. So really your remote should work out of the box, assuming channel up/down on your remote do send page up and down, you should not need to change a thing.

It sounds like your going against the grain somewhat in your configuration of GameEx. Systems and MAME are meant to be setup individually either using the built in MAME support or seperate emulators. Secondly, you really dont need to edit the ini files directly. The tools included with GameEx to do configuration are highly robust, and tried and tested. However, you can still configure it as you are trying to. If you have created you own access mdb file it should work fine, just select to use it in the configuration rather than manually fiddling with the ini. Yes, in recent versions publisher is now used instead of developer in the code, unless the publisher field is not a field in the table. When in favorites, the category and manufacturer are only for MAME use, however you can filter by system type in favorites. Also for the screensaver you do need an active MAME setup for it to work, but youve given me a few interesting ideas here for improvements, but like I said you are going against the grain a little, and you might want to abandon your current setup shortcuts approach and start over.

Yes there stored in the themes logo directory, and yes thats correct.

In terms of audio for DVD's GameEx does actually look for a seperate audio codec. Namely AC3. The best thing you can do is install FFDSHOW (make sure you use the version from the main site) or Vista Codec Pack. This contains the AC3 codec, and Im pretty sure should fix your problem. The MPEG2 codec is just for video, so I think thats your problem. In terms of the playlists, Im not sure what the problem is. In order for WMP playlists to work you need to use windows media player mode. All GameEx uses WMP for is to get a list of files from its library. Firstly I would ensure the playlists work outside of GameEx. If youve moved or changed drive the playlists may point to files that are not in the same location. The only other thing I can think of is I must have introduced a bug but I dont think so. Like the others say unless your using an ArcadeVGA card and ArcadeVGA mode in GameEx, MAME itself decides the resolutions to run the games at. Sorry you did not get the help you needed before, but theres not a deffinite response for any of your questions, but I hope these new replies help. Thanks. Tom.

I realise it does not fix the problem, but I can tell you nothing has changed in recent versions in regard to videos. The only thing I would check and possibly toggle is the sound option for preview videos.

Im not sure if this is actually an issue, when you say its waiting for the video to finish. I can see no reason why it would do that. How long does it wait? Its supposed to stay on the screen for 9 seconds, unless you press select. Im a little confused by this. Thanks. Tom.

Just to clarify what I was saying, for some reason it looks like GameEx cant even find the path. there should be a log entry saying "Playing startup video on thread". This is put into the log as soon as gameex either finds the filename or folder, before it even attempts to play a video. What I was trying to say its not even getting that far, so not even trying to play a video. For some reason it thinks that path does not exist. Although not sure why.

Its not even trying to play a video, which means GameEx cant find the path. Check the path to the video file or folder containing videos is correct.

How long are we talking about? It supposed to stay on the control panel screen for 9 seconds unless select is pressed. I just want to make sure its not simply just that.
