I brought the TV functionality in GameEx up to this decade, removed the legacy stuff and it can now act as an IPTV client, supporting M3U plus, XMLTV, Xsream and VOD. It's very simple to configure and supports up to 20 playlists. With this I also improved the http video streaming. In addition I resolved several minor bugs and resolved a few exceptions that were being swallowed. Enjoy. View the full article

How to setup and launch GameEx Multiplatform Unity Alpha?
Tom Speirs replied to Draco1962's topic in General
Let me know if it works for you if you don't change anything or much. Otherwise absolutely its not going to work with all modified settings. A lot of stuff is not implemented too yet. For example MAME launches but Emulators don't. Its an alpha and I'm looking for feedback but not much else at this point. There is a lot of stuff I need to do before I am looking for bug reports. Thanks for taking a look though buddy. i appreciate it. -

How to setup and launch GameEx Multiplatform Unity Alpha?
Tom Speirs replied to Draco1962's topic in General
The setup wizard is included in the extract. You just launch one of the three included included executables. -
This is something I started in 2020. I have not made much progress until recently but now have the Windows x64 version nearly completed. It originally started as a separate project but now it uses the same code base. Please consider an alpha version at this point just for feedback and testing. If you are new here please use the other GameEx installs. The benefits of the multiplatform version: - Few or no external dependencies. Just Unity/Mono. - Eventually versions for other platforms such as Linux and Android. - Setup will be web based leveraging GameEx online, - Everything uses the same code base. All versions get updates. Downsides: - There is video support but no MKV support just yet. - Will be missing some features but both Arcade and regular GameEx will be supported. Instructions: Windows: Extract to a location with write access. Then run one of three executables. Download here View the full article

I think Ill switch over to working on PinballX multiplatform then. More interest here I think. Plus its a lot easier than GameEx.

I have had good luck with this debloat script: It did seem to give me a noticeable performance improvement: https://github.com/LeDragoX/Win-Debloat-Tools

Thanks Mike. Good points. Have you tried the VPX standard version?

Version 19.86

This is something I started in 2020. I had not made much progress until recently but now have it not far off completion. It originally started as a separate project but now it uses the same code base. Please consider an alpha version at this point just for feedback and testing. If you are new here please use the other GameEx install. There are currently alpha versions of Linux, Mac and Android to download. Also Windows if you just wanted to quickly look. The benefits of the multiplatform version: - Few or no external dependencies. Portable install. - Everything uses the same code base. All versions get updates. - Supports all major platforms. Including Linux, Android and Mac. Downsides: - There is video support but no MKV support just yet. Thanks to VLC libraries this is resolved, but not available on Linux. - Will be missing some features but both Arcade and regular GameEx are supported and it is almost functionally comparable even on Android. Instructions: First Launch: It will take several seconds the first time you start the app while media assets are copied and fonts are downloaded. Android: Install and open Downloader (by AFTVnews) from the Play store. Enter 246452 for GameEx or 629105 for GameEx Arcade Edition. The APK file will download direct from here. The first time will issue a security warning. Follow the prompts to allow unknown apps then repeat the download. If you receive a privacy warning, select install anyway. I have spent months optimizing it but it is almost functionality the same as regular GameEx, plays multiple videos simultaneously and runs at 60 fps by default so it requires a modern Android device Linux: Extract and open a terminal window in that folder. chmod +x GameEx.x86_64 ./GameEx.x86_64 Mac: Download file. In Finder right click the application and select New Terminal at Folder Copy and Paste all this into Terminal and press enter. cd .. chmod -R +x Mac_GameExArcadeEdition.app/Contents/MacOS chmod -R +x Mac_GameEx.app/Contents/MacOS xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine Mac_GameExArcadeEdition.app xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine Mac_GameEx.app Then launch the application. -
Laser goodness. Nice. Thanks for the post.
