  2. Here's my second I've been working on this for a couple of days, still needs a bit of tweaking but I'm more or less done. I had a few problems with the theme editor so it took longer than I expected but I tried to work my way around. My first theme and second are leading me to another but I have to get comfortable with the editors little eccentricities and then my work flow will be better. Regardless, here's a snap of number two I used my icons from my first theme so its not a new work, I just wanted a different feel to my last and I think I achieved it. When I get this editor locked I'll do my third... Enjoy all Please let me know the mistake's I've made so I can learn a little faster

  3. Here is a sneak peak at a theme I am working on. The background and foreground images are very simple in comparison to previous works released. It will be a Hi-Def theme and the colors for the text, etc work really well at the "10 Ft Interface" for HTPC.

  4. Hey all Firstly, thanks again Tom for helping me out with my nag screen problem......... Well I finally finished my first theme, man it took a long time to get things more or less how I wanted them. Nothing revolutionary, but I like dark themes so I made one. I've never skinned anything before and I dont use all the feature fo GameEx so forgive me if I've misssed anything. Basically I found a theme layout I liked (Confluence Port v1) and skinned it to my liking with different everything. One thing I did my best to improve on was the taskbar and the way scrolling text appeared over the taskbar as it bugged the hell out of me that it went over the top of the buttons. Almost all the icons are newly created apart from some of the default ones which I liked, but apart from that I changed alomst everything. As I'm on a 37inch LCD I disable background video snaps as they don't scale up to well and tried to futrure proof the icons for larger resolutions. They are pretty big and the completed theme comes in at 47MB in total. Anyway... as Im new to the upload process on this site and it states I can only upload 29.3MB here are some screen shots to show you what I've done until I can figure out a way to share this puppy. Im off to bed now as Im working in about 6 hours, I'll try to upload it tomorrow if anyone is interested. I called it The Darkness, for obvious reasons. Ray

  5. I gave my image scrapper a quick tidy up there, I'm not going to do anymore as I'm sure Tom is going to come up with something much better but it was annoying me having all my PC games with no images I'll release it here as it stands as it might be useful to some others in the mean time. Hopefully self explanatory: Put the path containing all you Steam Url files in the first box Put the path where you want to store the images in the second box Select if you want to grab the first, last or all the images for that game They will be stored with the same filename as the .url (if you choose ALL then a number will be appended) There is very little error handling so it may crash and if I do catch an error I just ignore it and move on the the next .url Something I have noticed, some Steam pages require age verification e.g. Dead Rising 2 These games will be skipped SteamImages.zip

  6. I think you guys are reaching the same conclusion just from different angles? Scrape Steam for game metadata and images. Store the image(s) locally, and store the metadata in a Steam database. Makes sense to me (unless scraping metadata proves to be exceedingly difficult).

  11. The 2 main emulators PSX and ePSXe. PSX offers better emulation but lacks in features, but ePSXe emulation is slightly not as good but is booming with plugins and hacks. In a way they are pretty similar. I've got used to using ePSXe so thats what I do, I also think ePSXe runs faster than PSX. Some people use both emulators for different games, but me I just use ePSXe, so I only have 1 PlayStation entry on my emulator list. It's just a matter of what people get accustomed to.

  13. Today I went on a family day out to my local museum which I haven't been to in over 20 years. Basically the museum is a mixture of the late 1800's to the late 1940's, displaying all types of materials and buildings, theres alot of WW1 and WW2 paraphernalia on display and I do admit that I thoroughly enjoyed the day out. There's also mines which unfortunately I didn't go down. Even the food was, well let's say not very current. I've attached a few pictures of various things,

  16. Have completed 90% of the core logos total and about 30% completion of Console logo conversion. Still quite a ways to go with Manufacturer, Handheld, and PC System logos. Here is a brief video of the theme in action with changes that include: - New selector bar - Logos featuring blue tinted gradient overlays and transparency - Updated some core images

  20. I have managed to procure some good 8-bit tunes and sfx for the theme. Since I am working on this theme and the logo pack concurrently, I have decided to rework the logo pack to an extent so that it will integrate a little better with the theme. It will mean a little longer working on the theme and a bit of a delay on the logo packs, but it will be worth the extra effort in pulling off a cohesive theme.
