Tom Speirs
Hey Tom its Dave. I hope you put your donation to good use and didnt blow it on strippers. Anyways, I was using the software again. My gameex project has been going on for about 6 months now and it is becoming really pimped out. I love configuring it the way I like and getting all the images for carts and screens to load flawlessly. I spent a lot of time going through all my games and making a favorites list for each and every system. My new addition was that I installed a ton of classic computer games from the 80's. Each one being considered a new emulator under my "PC and Console Games" section. Well as you can guess. I have exceeded over 100 emulators and the lists dont populate any more than 100. So I was wondering if you could make an update for that. It seems like that would be an easy thing. Another thing I found that would be a great feature request would be that I would like the ability to put title headers for each section. My configuration groups all the emulators by type. Such as Console, Handheld and Computer. So I just created a new emulator entry which indicates a title and it does nothing. It would be sweet to be able to mess with bold, underline or some other indication that this is a subsection type of emulator. Thanks for all your time.Say is there a photo of you on your site somewhere. I always like putting a person with a face. Thanks dude. You rock.Hi Dave,Its really easy to increase the limits. Ill whack them upto 300 for the next release. No photo for the moment. Although I've got better looks and build than Bill Gates, and a hugely better haircut

fireb1ade
Hi Tom, loving this program so much!I have integrated gameex as a shell, but now lcdsmartie wont load at startup, could you include a load programs option which loads certain programs with gameex? Also to load explorer.exe on exit? That would make my install absolutely seamless. Is it possible to run final burn and appropriate games the same as you have done with Zinc?? fireb1ade
Tom that is phenominal, I make a feature request at 2am gmt, go to bed, and in the morning you have included it in the newest version!!I will be showing my appreciation in more than words, thank you!Just noticed that when you browse for the path for launch on start, it only records the filename and not the full path, not a big prob but thought you would want to know. Also what is the correct syntax for starting 2 programs? I tried a few things but it only loads the first (i need mbm to start with lcdsmartie)Thanks in advanceChris
rootnik
Tom,I don't know if it has already been covered, but how about standalone DVD support? (launch directly to the DVD player without accessing the menu, maybe with a flag)The DVD player in MCE is lacking, many people using MCE want to use FFDshow but can't. Your DVD player is the only one that I know of that uses the MCE remote correctly and supports FFDshow.Any thoughts? Is this already supported? rootnik
Yes, its already supported with the command line option -dvd<{POST_SNAPBACK}>You've thought of everything Awesome I'll check it out later tonight. Are there a full list of command line options somewhere? One thing I did notice earlier while playing with the DVD player was that if the green button was pressed during DVD playback GameEx never closed. It launched MCE ok, but kept playing the DVD in the background. This is not a huge deal, maybe something to look at next time you work on the DVD player. It reminds me allot of what used to happen when the button was pressed during gameplay, before one of your previous updates.

David R Hilgendorf
Tom, I have a small feature request. Include a hotkey for adding current selected game to the universal favorites list, preferrably something that can be pressed or shift-pressed with an IPAC/arcade controls. I don't use the submenus that give the option to add to favorites. Also a while ago I asked if there was a way to hide both the exit and home buttons on the top right. As I recall the exit can be disabled/hidden but home is still there.I see you have made some major updates lately, I need to get the newest version installed on the cab soon! Maybe you should just add an "Info" shortcut/hotkey (e.g. button 0+button 1) that takes you to the Info page if you've otherwise disabled it? That way it's clear to see whether you've already added something to favorites, and sometimes its fun to see how many times I've run a certain game. I needed to disable the info page because I set up the Big Brother RealVideo feeds as a submenu in GameEx, and each menu item is the one of the four cams. With those you are frequently switching cams, and having to back out of the info page all the time was cumbersome. It's been a great way to get the other half used to GameEx. -- Rob

djrobx
Emulators. There's 5 batch files for each of the cams that run realplay.exe. I then SendKeys in a Ctrl-3 to full-screen it. It works beautifully.

username1024
Lots of good ideas floating around here, no wonder Tom seems to be making so many updates. I put GameEx up on a TV. I've fine tuned the resolution as much as possible, but there's still a bit of overscan. None of the text is chopped off, but its pretty darn close. What would be nice would be to set a dead zone percentage for the border. GameEx would still draw the background as normal, but squeeze everything else in a little bit. I'm running a Radeon 9500 using the DVI -> component dongle, and Powerstrip was pretty much mandatory until the last few Catalyst releases. I've actually had a much more pleasant experience using the ATI HDTV wizard in their latest drivers. I dunno if its my TV, but I've never been able to do anything higher than 480p without some overscan.

tomdrake
Can we have an option to hide the Playstation(Zinc) menu? Since those games are covered in my MAME/Arcade list it's not nessesary, even worse is that I'm setting up epsxe and I'll end up with 2 Playstation menus. Now that I've asked you'll probably tell me it's in some hidden bit I didn't find on the ini. Terry
Hi Tom, thank you for your nice & great front-end!I have a suggestion: will it be possible if I can choose one emu between 2 or 3 emu to play one game? (When I choose to play a game, gameex will switch into emulator-screen list to let me choose the emu to play).Example: When you want to play Super Mario World on SNES, GameEx switch to a screen that show a list of emulators that can play this game like SNES9x, ZSNES, SNESGT...To put it simply: I want to play a game of one console-system with more than one emulator.I don't know if you could undrestand my words. Sorry for my bad English
