I owned one of these back in 1988. My math teacher declared I could use it since it was a calculator. I programmed in all the formulas for the math test into lines of code I could review while doing the test. That thing was fun though. :)

Radio Shack certainly had its place, but seemed to lose touch with the times and soon became irrelevant in the business model it pioneered. The stores where very convenient for things you couldn’t buy anywhere else.

I used to love Radio Shack. Bought my first pc from them. 386sx/33 with 80MB hard drive and a 512k video "card"! Only cost me $1500 after financing it through my first credit card. I added a CD-ROM drive right after I found out I could run 7th Guest on my machine if I had one.

 

Handhelds, chess games, rc cars, software, stereo equipment. I really miss that place.

The Shack was my go-to place for inexpensive speaker wire for my cars, obscure connectors and cheap floppy disks. Somewhere I have my 5 1/4" floppy disk notcher I bought from them.
