Also when selecting a game in attract mode and playing it after the time passes that the attract mode was set for the game will change ending your game and going on to something else. I've had to back out of the attraction and select a game to play

Does not look like GameEx even starts from that log. Not sure what is going on there? No point going there yet but that's also an old version from a year ago. i cant fix a bug in an old version unless its not been fixed.

As for attract mode, that is by design, sorry. its not designed for playing games. its an attract mode or screensaver. Sounds like you are looking for the "random game" feature.

I had never used the random feature before. I had attract running in the last iteration  of i daw a game i would play it and it always stayed right there. It never tried to change games during play.

nope, sorry. I need a proper log please buddy. I am guessing you posted the wrong file. it is a gameex log file, but some legacy file on your system i am guessing.

you must have been incredibly lucky then if it used to do that. it is not supposed to! what gameex version was that? it is meant to not exit if 5 is pressed but people dont always have 5 set to credit or even have a keyboard. is 5 your credit button?

remind me what is going on. have you done a big upgrade?

Yeah it was 5. 1 coin. If I select a game in attract it will play but only long enough for the attact timer to run out. Then it will switch out. 

I installed the latest version and did the copy as you and Draco suggested. 

That log I sent was from the gameex AE folder.

I don't know what version it was but it was from early 2024. The last time I was on here.

Ok so using a coin ( key stroke 5) the game will come out of  attract mode you say?

key stroke 5 is supposed to 'stop' it coming out. i will check. sounds like you found a bug.

sorry, but pretty sure that is not the correct file. it should be log.txt in the log folder.

What i posted WAS log.txt from the log folder. The first one just happened to be from the gameex \log folder. The second one was from gameex AE\log.

Very strange buddy. Both are the same and show gameex crashing and not starting.

twice now iver booted and let gameex go into attract mod. when it does the screen goes black and all i get is audio

So it looks like 3 issues.

Sorry for the confusion.

The scroll wheel not going backwards past the first alpha / numerical rom 

The game jumping out of play after attract timer resets 

And the screen going black ( leaving sound on) in attact mode but only every so often. I haven't seen a pattern yet.

Which MAME are you using?

i would suggest a mame list update. Definitely for the 1st issue.

For the sake of avoiding confusion, let's keep the issues in separate threads 

@castcreator1please update your MAME version (and ROMs to the new MAME version as well) and report back in the original thread for the scrolling issue with updated log file if not resolved. 

Keep this thread regarding the attract issue 

Possible addressing the first may resolve the second.
