hello.

Everything was fine with pinballx and visual pinball.

Suddenly, pinballx doesn't launch vp tables. After a while with this problem, I bought a new computer and the problem is still there.

Sometimes px open the table but when I try to quit for loading another table, it appears the visual pinball menu for exit a table.

I understand nothing and don't know what to do.

At least one year with that problem

Visual pinball, without pinballx works fine.

I enclose a video of the problem and the log from px

Please, help me.

Thanks everybody

Please also post a screenshot from Visual Pinball of your Preferences -> Configure Keys, Nudge and DOF settings.

There might be double mapping between PinballX and Visual Pinball functions for a key/button (probably with VP exit game)

Thanks for the info, but now i'm looking at it more i'm afraid i need more info too..

Are you using a keyboard or joystick/buttons to navigate and launch the tables?, and if using buttons are you using joytokey or similar to also translate button presses to keystrokes?

Your pinballx button configuration is also confusing -  quit, pageleft and exit emulator are all mapped to the same button? (just quit and exit emulator would be normal)

Also, please update PinballX to the latest version and retest. If problems persist open a command prompt and run;

"C:\Visual Pinball\VPinballX64.exe" /play -"D:\mesas vpx\2 in 1 (Bally 1964).vpx"

Does that work?

Your log says your running as administrator, is it supposed to be? That is not normal in 2025. Did you right click and run as administrator or did you completely disable UAC on the machine?

I noticed that.

The box is unchecked and i can,t find the way to run px without afmin privileges.

Maybe this is the problem.

I use a zerodelay. No joytokey.

I have only those buttons in the cabinet:

Flippers, exit, start, coin and launcj.

It worked fine some time ago.

I.ll try the command when i arrive home

For whatever applications you are running Administrator rights enabled - including PinballX, you have to right-click on the executable (.exe) file, then left-click on the Properties option. From there, click on the Compatibility tab and until the box next to "Run the program as an administrator." Repeat this process for VPX and anything else you have enabled "Run the program as an administrator."

Yes, it works perfect, using the command prompt you said

Likely picking up the administrative status of the Windows account signed in is my guess. Thanks for checking the apps.

Based upon your response to @scutters is it Ok to mark this as resolved?

I don't understand what you mean.
The problem is still there. I don't know what to do

@scutters told me to run a prompt command and it works well from this command, but it doesn't involve pinballx.

Visual pinball works fine. What doesn't work is pinballx

You properly turned off uac, as pinballx is launching without a question.for permission

Please try to enable UAC and set it to default setting :''Notify me only when apps try to make changes to my computer (default)' see: : https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/user-account-control-settings-d5b2046b-dcb8-54eb-f732-059f321afe18

After this change launch PinballX. If it shows yiu to run as admin, click no and try if that works.

Also attach your logfile after this change and test

If I make this, pinballx doesn't open.
I attach the two images.
When I try to open px, it prompts me to say yes or no. If I say yes, everything goes the same. If I say NO, pinballx doesn.t execute

That still means that you run pinballx as admin. Lowering uac proofs that.

Still you need to check how to remove it. As I don't know how you build it, it could be set from shortcut, executable, registry or even in a group or local policy

Seems like a strange one. We are not the police but where did the OS come from!?

Its easily done, no offence intended but that is where my thinking is at.

Hello.

I bought the computer in a shop. A very proven company.

I had this problem with my old computer.

Any way to solve this?

I just noticed in your first video that the backglass for the first table does briefly appear (around 16secs in) and then immediately closes.

So it looks like VPX is at least trying to start the table, and then it quits back to the editor for some reason. Why does it work from the command prompt and not PinballX?, not sure but probably linked to the weird UAC / admin permission stuff above.

Update PinballX if you haven't already and then try again, post the new log.txt file after, and if the tables don't launch please check Windows Event Viewer, under Windows Logs\Application to see if any critical error is logged there when the table launch fails.

To check the Windows Event Viewer (often called eventvwr), you're essentially peeking into the system’s diary—it logs everything from software crashes to security warnings. Here's how you can open and use it:

How to Open Event Viewer

- Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog

- Type eventvwr and hit Enter

- Alternatively, you can search for "Event Viewer" in the Start menu

 What You Can Look For

Once it's open, you'll see folders like:

- Windows Logs

  - 🖥️ Application: App-level events (e.g. crashes, errors)

  - 🛡️ Security: Login attempts, account activity

  - ⚙️ System: System messages like driver failures, updates

- Custom Views: Filtered logs based on conditions

- Applications and Services Logs: More specific logs for services

Tips for Navigation

- Use the Date and Time column to spot recent events

- Look for icons: ⚠️ means warning, is error, and ℹ️ is information

- Double-click an event to see detailed info, like error codes and event
