[RESOLVED] PinballX don't show backglass

Hi there, I installed PinballX on a Windows 11, and won't show the backglass in the frontend.

When ik start a table in pinballX there is a normal backglass.

I use 2 screen setup and in the settings i played with the setting of using b2s as backglass. 

I installed the latest version of PinballX.

Does anybody know what can be the problem here ?

Please provide your PinballX log file and your configuration file (pinballx.ini).

Did you install the LAV codec as well?

LAV codecs will allow you to play videos of the backglass files in PinballX rather than using the actual B2S backglass file.

.. but it sounds like you want to use (or at least try using) the actual B2S file in PinballX. 

When PinballX is running (and you have a table selected that you have a B2S file for) can you check if B2S is started as a process in taskmanager

Your are also using an older version of Pinballx. 6.11you have and Tom just released 6.59

Please upgrade to the latest version so we may triage if this issue persists when you are running the latest and also after installing the mentioned LAV Codecs.

Let us know if you are still having a problem and attach updated copies of your pinballx.ini and log.txt files

It seems that PinballX don't start the b2s server, when i check the services i don't see b2s server. When i double click a b2s file, the b2s server starts and the backglass is shown.

Did you install B2SBackglassServerEXE.exe and the other B2S files in the Visual Pinball\Tables folder or in another folder? - i think they are needed there to use B2S in PinballX.

Yes of course i installes de b2s backglass server in the tables folder. B2s server is working fine, because when i start a table everything is working. I only don't have a backglass when i scroll through the menu of PinballX.

did you try to copy boths files to the tables folder as @scutters mentioned in the linked post ?
or are all the B2Sserver files in the sme directory where tables exists ?

The reason i asked is because although the B2S .directB2S files still need to be in the Tables folder, the executables for B2S don't need to be anymore - https://github.com/vpinball/b2s-backglass/wiki/Fresh-Installation

If the B2SBackglassServerEXE.exe etc files are in the Visual Pinball\Tables folder then please confirm if you're using the B2S fuzzy naming or exact file name matching, you may need to use exact file name matching (table file and B2S file names) for the B2S files to work in PinballX.

.. and yes update PinballX too if you haven't already.

I use videos rather than B2S files in PinballX, but i have tested 'Use DirectB2S in Front End' with table names matching the B2S names in PinballX 6.59 and it worked.

I already updated pinballX to the latest version.

When i make the setting that pinballX doesn't use b2s files, I get in my backglass the PinballX logo.

When i copied .ini file to a Windows 10 machine, everything works fine.

Can there be a problem in Win11 ?

I'm using Win11 so it's not that. But it is something weird with that pc, i'm just not sure what!

That is the default media showing because you don't have any backglass media in your PinballX\Media\Visual Pinball\ sub-folders.

There are a few ways to record your own media, PinballX Game Manager, PBX Recorder, or with PinballX Database Manager (my preferred way ).

There are also pre-recorded Videos and Images available on the FTP for download (can be done with manually with FileZilla, or automated via Game Manager or Database Manager).

Using media files rather than the B2S file in PinballX might be worthwhile for you because they appear faster when scrolling through tables without having to initialise the B2S application, and it would negate the strange  'use b2s in front end' issue you have at the moment.

I'm afraid i'm pretty much out of ideas.

B2S server must be registered ok as it works in game and the B2S files must also exist too so no idea why they aren't opening from PinballX.

Unless someone else has an idea i'd suggest just using media files for the front end backglass screen.

Hi there.

Very strange but I changed the directory of my tables, by copy everything to another location.

I changed the tablepath in PinballX and everything works great.... Very strange but my problem is solved.

Yep.. that makes no sense at all to me either. But a fix is a fix!
