[RESOLVED] Pinball X mouse defaulting on backglass

Pinball X mouse defaulting on backglass on certain VP tables making the game not start. If I move the invisible cursor and click the mouse button, the game starts. This is happening on only certain VP tables running from VPinball 995. Any idea how to resolve this?

Please attach copies of your pinballx.ini and log.txt files (do not copy and paste the contents) when reporting an issue for triage.

Can you provide the names of the certain tables causing the reported issue?

plus they are taking 20 to 30 seconds to load which is unusual. i just redid my cab to win 11 and every game needs tweaking sadly

It sounds like a focus issue, the normal fix for VPX would be to use exclusive fullscreen in the video options there - but i'm not sure if VP9.95 even had that option.

You are running an old version of PinballX though (PinballX - Version 4.13 x64) so there is a chance that the latest version also resolves the issue. What it does definitely have though is an option in settings not to hide the mouse cursor and that might ease the pain a little.

So please update PinballX and retest.

If it is a focus issue, there a compiled tool on github, that can maybe help : https://github.com/MikedaSpike/Bring-VPX-to-Front just launch the executable once and tool should focus visual pinball..

Btw. Your logfile that you posted was a log from pinballx that is pretty old. Did you already upgrade pinballx as well ? oeps @scuttersalready mentioned this

I don't get why the log states the old version when I just reinstalled a little over a month ago and add/remove programs shows ver 6.5.8. Also why would it take 25 sec to open in pallball x and 8 sec to open from vp995? Mouse is fine when opening directly from vp995. Can / should I reinstall Pinball X over it self? Just paranoid of having to start reconfiguring everything again. It's been many hours getting this far. Thank you all for suggestions and assistance!

Is it possible that you have PinballX installed in two locations on your rig?

It is installed on another hard drive on the PC. But the C drive has the latest install. I did copy the files over from the older install hoping to help with configuration. Would this effect it?

It absolutely could as you would be overwriting the newer files! I would likely make a backup copy of my pinballx.ini file and uninstall/delete both instances and download/install the latest.

Do you have PinballX set to start with windows?.. if so check the properties of the PinballX shortcut file in C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup - is it pointing to the install on C:\ rather than the old D:\ install?

I made a restore point and did a reinstall without uninstalling. Seemed to do the trick and I don't think it messed with anything else! Thanks everyone for your input!
