[RESOLVED] Can't use ESCAPE key to exit VPX after upgrade to VPX 10.7.2

Hi all,

I upgraded to VPX 10.7.2 to take advantage of a new table from VPinWorkshop and, for some reason, using the Escape key to exit back to PBX no longer works.

I have both escapes in PBX set to Escape and the Quit in VPX is set to Q. The "Disable Esc in VPX" box is ticked. I went back to 10.7 and the escape works fine.

I can't figure out what the issue is. Attached are the log and init. I am assuming this is an issue with VPX and not PBX?

I've just tried similar settings with VPX 10.7.2 final and i can't replicate, ESC key closes the VPX table and goes back to PinballX ok.

I can't see a "Exit System Control Pressed" entry in your log file which is strange, so it does look like VPX intercepted the ESC key press on your setup for some reason. All i can suggest is try mapping a different key in PinballX and see if that works, might prove something anyway - just not sure what..

The only reason I need the Escape key is because I use the X-Arcade joystick set and the red button on the set is my escape. I mean, I could just try to use another button and map it to another button (I don't think you can alter the red button on the system). I'd just rather not.

Even pressing Escape on the keyboard doesn't work anymore.

My temp workaround (which is ugly) is pressing Q twice and then using the mouse to manually exit the emulator, which is why you don't see an exit in any logs.

Are you running vpx in exclusive mode ?

Or run vpx as admin ?

My escape button on keyboard is working like a charm, but have the full exclusive hack set in pbx and enabled in vp

Yes to all of those.

I just reverted back to 10.7 and Escape works fine -- I just can't play the new Iron Man table that came out without 10.7.2, so...

PBX and VPX 10.7.2 just don't like one another on my system. I cannot figure this out.

Quick Edit (still not fixed): Changing Escape to a random letter on the keyboard (say "A") does not work either. It's almost as if VPX is blocking any PBX keystrokes.

Hmmm... i didnt see the full exclusive hack in your log file, so try that as well.

And for me, no need to run anything anymore as admin. Maybe thats causing issues as well.

It's because I disabled it after it didn't work. Turning it back on doesn't make it work either.

Nothing does.

10.7.2 just does not like PBX on my end. I have tried everything. I have no idea what else I can do to get this to go.

Weirdly enough, I just clicked over to the backglass screen until the backglass vanished -- then pressed Escape and it allows you to escape out to PBX...but that's still not what I'd like.

It's like the table screen overrules everything else until you click away from it.

Did you also upgrade your directb2s server ?
looks like the focus to the VPX table is gone from PBX

Just to be sure we are still on the same page :

Did you removed "Run as admin" from PinballX.exe and VPinballX.Exe ?
Is your  "Full screen exclusive hack"within PinballX to Yes ?
And is your Visual PinballX checkbox "Force exclusive Full Screen Mode" checked ?

Whats the setting for your Backglass media in your database file ?

• Upgraded to the newest B2S (1.4.x) - SAME ISSUE
• "Full Screen Hack" set to YES - SAME ISSUE
• VPX set to "Force Exclusive Full Screen" - SAME ISSUE
• <hideblackglass> was set to "True" for each table.

Finally...

• Remove "Run as Admin" for VPX 10.7.2 - This appears to have fixed the issue. I can now exit out of VPX to PBX.

I DID have a temporary issue with my DMD vanishing behind the backglass after upgrading to B2S 1.4, so I simply reverted back to last version of B2S (1.3.1) and now my DMD's appear on top of the backglass AND I can exit VPX to PBX.

Wonder what changed...that's the most vague issue I've ever seen.

Sorry to hear ... Backglass server has some 'improvements' to move the screen to front or to back. PLay with that, or otherwise use the previous version.
I have a real DMD , So not able to play with it, but my Alphanumeric is working fine if I put the back glass to back

Good news is, that PinbalLX is working and you can play Iron man

Also, refresh the page and you will see I edited my original solution post so that you can see I reverted to an older B2S.

@Mike_da_Spike - This HAS, unfortunately, brought back an old problem I had: tables taking upwards of 20 to 30 seconds to load. Doesn't happen on all tables. Mainly stuff like Ghostbusters or heavy PUP tables.

EDIT: Disregard. I raised an issue about that here already and followed my own steps. Heh. Fixed.
