[RESOLVED] Backglass videos not showing after connection to new playfield monitor...

Stop me if you've heard this one...but I had PBX configured with backglass videos running on my 2nd Display (22" inch monitor used as Backglass).

Satisfied, I disconnected my 1st Display (24" monitor used as playfield) and connect it to the 42" (also used as playfield).

Suddenly, PBX cannot see video files on the 2nd Display.

I reconnect the old 1st Display -- and the backglass videos are fine.

Reconnect the new 1st Display -- and backglass videos nowhere to be found

The video files are in mp4 format. They've always worked.

Unticking "Hide Backglass" doesn't work.

No other apps are open.

The Backglass file names match the Table names.

Form1 can be seen if I Alt+Tab -- but nothing is shown anywhere.

Log and Config attached.

I wasn't using anything before and the video files ran fine. I'm not sure I understand the sudden need for a codec if I'm just switching out monitors. Shouldn't it work from display to display?

Its recommended to install and use them for everyone.. It provides much better performance and stability. That is always our first troubleshooting advice with anything related to videos.

Coming right up...also, just noticed that the backglass video is on the same screen as the playfield -- but it's only noticeable after I quit, and the backglass is underneath the playfield window.

Also, swapping monitors (in the Wizard) places the windows on the correct monitors...but that's not what I'm trying to do since one is significantly larger than the other and place the backglass on a 42" screen with a 22" playfield would look ridiculous.

Dud you just swap the monitors but leave the same cables in the same ports on the GPU? Sometimes the port order on a GPU will have an impact.

Hey Draco...yeah...I took my makeshift set-up down for the night...I'll be back in a few hours to start all over again.

To your point, tho: I've done that before and have had zero problems. Display 2 has ALWAYS been my motherboard HDMI. Display 1 has been two different monitors. There's really nothing I can do about this. Short of just outright using my 42" to edit things, I use my two smaller monitors for set-up while I use the 42" to play. I've restarted the CPU altogether to combat this to no avail. This was the first night I have lost video backglass.

I know windows 10 does not like multiple GPUs. I had to buy a new card to resolve my issues. If you've tried a reboot then you will have to use an x/y offest for the backglass.

For your installed GPU, how many ports do you have available? Would it be possible ti only use that and disable the built-in GPU? You may find better control over the order of your displays.

I would do this except, for some reason, my GTX 970 only outputs video via the HDMI port. The Mini Display Port on the card won't output any sort of video no matter what I do, which is why I went to my onboard GPU instead.

Yeah, it's a bit frustrating. The only reason I started this 2-monitor cabinet project was because I was able to activate the other GPU. I was attempting to use the other ports on the GTX 970 but they just don't work. :-/ I've heard there have been issues with that card but I have never been able to get it to work.

What settings would you recommend for the offset?

That will depend on how you have the screen locations set in windows. Normally (screens positioned left to right) x offset for the backglass would be playfield width ,  y = 0.

I will go ahead and try this and report back.

@scutters- The offset seems to have worked -- except that the backglass video doesn't completely fit the entire screen. There's a long, black strip at the bottom of each backglass now.

You probably just need to adjust the Y offset value in settings for the backglass or align your screens horizontally in windows (so the top of each screen aligns). If the screens are aligned already then check the backglass Height value in settings matches that of the screen.

If that doesn't work post a new copy of your ini file and let us know what your screen resolutions are and how they are positioned in windows (screenshot will do for windows pos)

Ok...success!

Here's what I have for my Backglass vids screen:

X - 1920
Y - 0
Width - 1920
Height - 1080

Backglass covers the entire monitor. Launching the game is good, too. Looks like I'm set.

Thanks, @scutters!
