I have a Sony LCD 46" TV and a regular monitor with dual ATI Radeon card. When I am using MCE, it pops up on the Sony like it should. Then when I go to My Games (game Ex) it goes to the regular monitor. I can use gameex on the Sony only if I make the sony my primary monitor, but that's not how I want it. I've tried the secondary monitor configuration and it does not work. How do I change the monitor setting in the mame configuration?

Hello-

Have you tried on it a secondary monitor, versus your current setup?? I thought is was one or the other, but not both.

I have tried it on both monitors and it works. But only on the monitor I make the primary monitor. I would like to have it so it is only on the secondary monitor. MCE works like this. My primary monitor does not display MCE, but the secondary does. I have read the other posts about adding a line to the mame.ini and I did but it does not work. I also enabled sceondary display in gameex config, but it does not work.

I have this issue as well with an nvidia card (seperate from gameex). Video will only display on the screen that is set as the PRIMARY display. So everytime I want to go and sit down in front of my TV, I need to set it as the primary display.

I recall that ATI cards have a setting that allows you to view video on both displays at the same time, no matter which is set as the primary display.

I would review your video setting until you discover this, once successful at displaying video on both, go back and see if gameex will display correctly.

Will cloning the monitor help?

Cloning the monitor?? How the hell does one do that??

I can 'clone' the monitor (I'm thinking it's called 'mirroring' however) using UltraMon - but I like having the extended desktop so I can watch my torrents while I play games through GameEx. You can also use it to apply a black wallpaper to the second monitor if you're trying to hide Windows entirely for whatever reason...

Haven't tried to mirror MAME however (or any other emulators for that matter), so I don't even know if it works. You can try it though.

If you want MAME to run on multiple screens, there is a command line switch. I find this to be handy for games that used a seperate monitor to display game lists (like NSS or the old NES multi-game cabinets). If it's a single monitor game, like Pole Position for example, it will render the game to both screens. Makes me wish I had put an extra monitor above my marquee for people to watch... I hate people looking over your shoulder. :)

The way to do this is:

-numscreens <count>

so, if you use two monitors, you would type this in the Advanced MAME Options page in your GameEx advanced configuration:

-numscreens 2

Hope that helps. :)
