For now I am just setting the secondary monitor as the primary when I use GameEx. It is a bit of a pain but hopefully there will be some sort of fix or solution out there soon.
-
I am extending my monitor. The two displays are at different resolutions. But when I run game ex, it will only run on the primary monitor.
-
Getting GameEx to run on the secondary monitor is the issue. I was basically looking for another way around it but clone mode is not what I wanted. Thanks
-
I just downloaded the newest version and although it was a newer version than mine, the clone mode still requires the same resolution to be on both monitors. Besides, I woud like to be able to do it on extended mode if possible. Thanks though.
-
When you clone it, both monitors need to be the same resolution. I also like the extended desktop so my wife can use the computer while I use the secondary screen for other things such as media center. I'll ask Tom if he can help me.
-
Just to clarify. I can't use clone mode because my monitor number one supports 1680 x 1050 and my TV does not. They just support different resolutions, so I cannot use clone mode. I guess Adultery is right and you just can't do it. If only we could drag it to the second monitor somehow, all the problems would be solved. Thanks Anyway.

So I have fixed all my other issues with Gamex thanksto this forum. The only issue I have left is an annoying one: I have a Radeon 9800 Pro Video Card. I cannot get Gamex to work on the secondary display. I can even play the games on the secondary monitor but in order to choose them, I have to use Game-Ex on my computer monitor (primary Display). I can get it to work if I make the secondary monitor my primary, but I don't want to change my settings everytime. Clone mode does not work, I believe its only for Video. I wish I could drag GameEx to the secondary monitor and have it launch from there. I would like to be able to see Gamex only on the secondary monitor. Any Ideas? Here is some more info. Secondary Monitor is a new Sony XBR3 running at 1920x1080 (I've tried other resolutions and it still doesn't work). Mame works perfectly on the secondary monitor, just not gameEx. Thank You

I have everything setup now. Thanks for all of your help. My main problem was that I was doing the input general (tab when games starts) from within Gameex. For some reason, that made the buttons completely unresponsive. When I used Mame outside of Gameex, I was able to select the action (I.e. button 1), I then pressed enter (which made the selection blank), and hit the corresponding Ps2 button (i.e. triangle), and it worked perfectly for both players.
-
Thank You! That worked. However, I cut and pasted your code. What I'd like to know (which I still don't get) is how to map all the buttons. For example: I'd like to make the select button (8) be the coin insert. And start (11) be start. I would also like to map all six buttons to play games like street fighter.
-
Sorry, I don't understand. How do I know which of the scancodes correspond to the buttons on the controller? And what would I have to put in the custom input file
-
I did turn on the custom input in the config. Under control panel, I tested the buttons and that is where I have the numbers from above. Its weird, when I use the default custom input file, some buttons work, but when I add the buttons (i.e. Button1=4) nothing works except the directional pads.
-
I bought a USB adaptor for my PS2 controller. The buttons in control panel are as follows: triangle -1 square -4 circle -2 x- 3 Select -10 start -9 R1 -8 R2-6 L1 -7 L2 -5 I tried pressing tab during the game but i doesn't seem to be registering the buttons properly. This is what I put in the gameex custom input ini file. JOYSTICK] #Button Number starting a 1 Button1=4 Button2=1 Button3=3 Button4=2 Button5=7 Button6=5 Button7=8 Button8=6 Button9=9 Button10=10 Select=10 Back=1 Shift1_Paging=3 Shift2_Volume=4 PrevTrack=6 NextTrack=7 What am I doing wrong?

Ended up uninstalling and reinstalling and now everything is fine.
-
yes I installed a new version today. That might be it. How do I undo that?
-
Both of those setting were set already. It was working this morning, not sure what I changed. Still not there.
-
I can find my games in favorites and random games but it is gone from the top menu and is not under any other menu (not under emulators)
-
I have tried it on both monitors and it works. But only on the monitor I make the primary monitor. I would like to have it so it is only on the secondary monitor. MCE works like this. My primary monitor does not display MCE, but the secondary does. I have read the other posts about adding a line to the mame.ini and I did but it does not work. I also enabled sceondary display in gameex config, but it does not work.
-
I have a Sony LCD 46" TV and a regular monitor with dual ATI Radeon card. When I am using MCE, it pops up on the Sony like it should. Then when I go to My Games (game Ex) it goes to the regular monitor. I can use gameex on the Sony only if I make the sony my primary monitor, but that's not how I want it. I've tried the secondary monitor configuration and it does not work. How do I change the monitor setting in the mame configuration?
