Hi,

Not necessarily a GAMEEx specific question, but hope someone can help none the less...

Gamex Arcade running great with MAME 0.219 64bit installed.

I upgraded from an old version of 0.151 which had the -scanlines switch to turn on scanlines.

Read a lot about HLSL filters and enabling hlsl in mane.ini, setting video to d3d, and filters to 0, but cannot for the life of me get the scanlines to appear!

No sliders for them either available from within MAME itself...

Must be something really simple I've missed but going around in circles....

Many Thanks.

Below is the link for HLSL settings for 0.217 which shouldn't be much different than for 0.219.

https://docs.mamedev.org/advanced/hlsl.html

I'd suggest going through your MAME configuration top to bottom as well as the per game settings.

In reading through this page, the following stood out to me:

Tweaking HLSL Settings inside MAME
For multiple, complicated to explain reasons, HLSL settings are no longer saved when you exit MAME. This means that while tweaking settings is a little more work on your part, the results will always come out as expected.

I've never used that particular command, but give this thread a look and see if perhaps it gets you what you're after.

Ok, thanks for all of that - the 0.217 document I had already seen and followed, but will read through carefully again and check out the other link.

Thanks.

DOH!! Resolved the issue... I'd forgotten that I had two copies of MAME installed and was editing the ini file of the wrong one!

Classic error....

Anyway for the benifit of others:

open the correct mame.ini

set video to d3d

set filter to 0

set hlsl_enable to 1

Then you can run any game in mame and voila - scanlines....

It's easy to do, at any given time I have two to three versions of GameEx loaded, so I get totally get what you're saying.

Thanks for posting back your solution!
