I recently upgraded my Dell Zino 410 HTPC to an AMD Quad-Core 4.1GHz system. Oh yeah...

I installed GameEx and ran through the setup but I have a weird issue. My controls are set for Up/Down/Left/Right which I set using the controller. They don't work.

The Up/Down arrows on my keyboard work inside GameEx. The buttons I set work. The joystick won't.

I tested it in Notepad and all four directions on the joystick work exactly like the arrow keys. I don't know what I am missing.

Is your X-Arcade stick emulating a keyboard or a gamepad? If gamepad then you'll need to enable Custom Joystick Controls and map them. I don't have any personal experience with X-Arcade sticks but wouldn't Enable IPAC Support have an influence?

Also have you tried mapping the controls directly using your stick? If you try mapping say "Select" to one of your buttons and GE doesn't pick it up, it may give you an idea of what is wrong.

EDIT - oh i see only the sticks are not working. Have you tried remapping UP/DOWN/LEFT/RIGHT using your actual sticks?

Yes. I set those controls using the joystick on my X-Arcade. The X-Arcade is set up to be a keyboard and mouse essentially. It's just mapping that needs to be done. It's just not reading that mapping.

I have. I've also set "Enable Gamepad/Joystick" to "DON'T enable..." and that hasn't had any effect either.

Weird right? :)

Thank you Tom!

Well... never would have thought of that with this wireless keyboard. There's no NUMLOCK indicator.

P1 joystick Up/Down/Left/Right on an X-Arcade have to be mapped as NumPad2, NumPad4, NumPad6 and NumPad8. Hope my missing the obvious helps someone else in the future! :)

Noted for future reference ^_^ I too never would've thought of that! Thanks Tom :)

Same here.

Cool stuff from the man himself! :win:

Yeah that's the one problem when trying to help members and you have zero experience with their situation. All you have is your own common sense and sometimes it's not enough

So, if anyone wants to donate me a TankStick for the benefit of the community...
