Rick Mayall of "The Young Ones" and "Black Adder" fame died yesterday. What a loss. Rest in Peace.

Man, my wife just mentioned this to me less than an hour ago, sad news indeed! RIP

Thanks for posting the video, it's a great reminder that I need to get out the DVD set to revisit these classics.

I never heard of this guy really. But I saw a Facebook post about it and he was the actor who played Drop Dead Fred, so I know him from that.

I absolutely loved Black Adder. I can't say I have seen anything else with him but I probably missed out on a lot.

I had never seen Bottom.

Thanks for the videos rockyrocket

You are very welcome, I guessed its probably an adult crowd here so hope the profanity is ok?.

Rip Rik its a sad day for sure.

The young ones were filmed not too far from me here in bristol and some of the landmarks are mostly the same.

Saying that though nelson mandela house from only fools and horses is here and not really in london at all.

The way it's weaved into the act, it just wouldn't be the same without it. You got to have a plot, right? :D

That's cool, that show will always be a favorite of mine! Back when MTV was relevant they aired shows like this, the early seasons of unplugged, etc., too bad they seemingly lost their way and went to reality, or whatever it is they show these days!

Same here! I was exposed to The Young Ones early on through MTV and later through PBS broadcasts (oddly enough). For better or worse (and completely unintentionally) a few of my teenage years were more or less patterned on the character of Vyvyan.

If anything at least Rick outlived Thatcher which likely would have pleased him (or at least his character in the Young Ones - I have no idea what Rik Mayall's actual political affiliations were)

Heh one of the last great "physical" comics. The guy can pull a million faces and that's a dwindling talent. With his comic husband, Adrian Edmondson, they dominated the 80's and 90's here in the UK. And with respect to all his characters, he will always be "Richie from Bottom" to me. Richie and Eddie's "adventures" were a huge part of my growing up, and i can honestly say that things would've been different without them.

If you've not seen Bottom Live, any of them, i urge you to go watch! They contain some of the best improv i've seen (there are debates whether they are written into the script, - who cares?? watch them and decide yourself whether it is planned), Bottom line it is belly laughing good! And you can really see what Mayall is about in them! :) Least of all his/their obsession with Sue Carpenter!

One of the most iconic end credits ever made!

Ye will live on in our hearts.

Sat down and watched Bottom "Fluff" last night, it's basically the outtakes and it was hilarious, I remember watching it when I was younger and it's still just as funny.
