    7z batch file

Okay I think we have a mild misunderstanding...I figured the roms where in some sort of folder. Okay first off are your roms archived? (zip\rar\ace\7z\tar\...) or are they in binary form? I ask this because you stated your Mame roms are all in one folder...with Mame...I hope they are in ether archives or in thousands of sub folders...or you have a problem...since there are several hundreds if not thousands of games that have multiple binary files required to make them run correctly. N64 and the like...typically have only one binary file per game...however when dealing with GoodMerge there can be multiple builds of a given game...so while only one rom is required...several are offered. So if all binary files are in A single primary folder...I can code around that....if all archives are in a single primary folder, where your looking to convert from one format to another...I can code around that. If all binary files are in a game per sub folder...I can code around that...same applies to archives. So please be very explicit about your needs.

    7z batch file

Well I don't know about writing a batch file...hehe to me thats going backwards. I'm looking to write a script anyways to run in a primary directory which snags all the contents of a sub folder and archives it into rar\7zip\TorrentZip\Zip...tho if your working with all roms in one folder I could probably do one for that as well...but let me know...hehe other wise I'll just do things as I want. My reason is that I was looking to update a CD image set...and.....DOH!!!!!!!!!!!....just noticed you can set the zip compression level in CLRMAME Pro....I guess the bitch I was about to unleash...is bogus. Man I just ate a shit load of time for giggles...thats not cool. Okay here is the run down on my foolishness so everyone can point and laugh and hopefully learn from my complete waste of time... Alright everyone knows...I hope that when your in the Rebuilder section of CLRMAME Pro...you have two primary settings that greatly effect the time it takes to rebuild your rom set...."Compress Files" & "Recompress Files"...man this is rather a serious blond moment....anyways "Recompress Files" makes sure any archives are compressed to your compression settings (*things didn't click here*)..."Compress Files" basically means if you where dealing with flat files or files in sub folders...they would be brought together in a archive...and if they where already in an archive that would simply be moved over....unless "Recompress Files" was selected. Leaving "Compress Files" unchecked would for one disable "Recompress Files" of course...but it also means all files will be stored in subfolders. Now here is where my blond moment really shines....if your in the Settings section of CLRMAME Pro...there is a button in the lower left hand side that says "Compressor..." strangely enough...clicking it bring up some options for the compressor...the key one here is "Zip Compress Level" which is typically set at a value of 9...which returns fairly good speed to compression results....however setting this to 0 basically causes the compressor to simply make a Store file with a zip extension since there is no compression being done...why is this useful...because one...it takes about as much time as just simply coping the files from one place to another....and the real key here is the fact most files end up being TorrentZipped....so why waste time compressing the files twice...when it can be done only once. Blonde fucking stupid moment....hehe figured I'd share it with everyone. Now with small files...this route doesn't make a whole lot of diff...but if you are working with CD or DVD size files...you only want to compress shit once. Anyways yeah I'll write your script...in AutoIt tho.
  3. LOL, well be sure to contact Tom about it...its your find...so you should get the credit for finding it.

    Kega Fusion

Sorry I and others have yet to address your questions. It would appear that Kega isn't seeing the disc image for some reason. Are you loading it via a Virtual CD\DVD drive? or are you sending it directly to the emulator? What does your commandline look like? If using a Virtual CD\DVD drive what does your Launch Before\After entries look like? Have you opened up the CUE file and made sure there is no additional pathing information contained in it?
  5. Okay tried the config and can confirm the lockup...I'll see about altering my default config to match some of your settings to see if mine will also lockup. ================== Okay first testing differing to my original config...seems your theme pref stayed from some odd reason...but whats actually insane is that your theme pick...started doing an LSD type breathing deal...no it wasn't a flash back...not sure what the hell...oh didn't turn off the monitor like it was suppose to...have to dig around and find out what I set wrong there...very very frigging nutty. ================== Okay turning Attract Mode Timer to Off prevents the Screensaver Mode from doing its thing, in our case turning off the monitor...this is clearly a bug....with it enabled will turn off the monitor but will lock the application. So tempest you have indeed found a bug...report it to Tom...now I need to figure whats up with this LSD shit. ================== Okay setting the skin again from the theme picker solved the problem...still not sure why things got all funky, when just swapping INI's....
  6. Brian - Sorry but studies thus far have shown that using M.M. in conjunction with C.R.S. only leads to greater......ahh something..... tempest69 - Well I am blonde and it doesn't bother me a bit to hear the phrase...tho typically its being applied to my woman...and well she's asian...so if she ever does turn blonde something really really wrong happened at the hair salon.
  7. There is no alzheimers here...ether you have blond moments...or you suffer from C.R.S. (Can't Remember Shit)...I sadly suffer from both.
  8. have at it...as I stated your welcome to my art for use in your app's.
  9. Well if your using Map files anything listed in them will be displayed....currently Map files are not tested against actual files...this is both good and bad. It would be nice to be able to toggle this behavior tho.
  10. Sorry currently there is no way in which to bring other games\emu's into the mame page...if I'm understanding what your looking for correctly.
  11. hmm see if Xpadder is running and if so close it...then try everything but Zinc...that is if your using my setup guide and files....if your not...I don't have a clue...

  13. hehe not sure if I'm feeling the love here or not.
  14. Okay go ahead and hook the EHDD back up....leave everything as you last stated...but this time around disable all emulation...Mame included...along with any PC games...see if it still locks up...probably will but covering this base as well. Basically it all comes down to turning off section by section of GX till hopefully the problem gets narrowed down to something. Actually fuck it...if you don't have a backup of your "C:\Program Files\GameEx\CONFIG\GameEx.ini" do so now...after doing so....go through it and turn everything off or down to its lowest value. Heh I was going to suggest just nuking the file after backup...but GX doesn't seem to handle that very well from the testing I just did...so can't even start out fresh it seems. However I think if you make a copy of gameex.default.ini then rename it to GameEx.ini it'll be a fresh start...but even then you'll want to go through and turn stuff off if possible.
  15. Okay PM Tom about the Manual Standby issue...maybe he can resolve that... Next restore your old settings if they where altered...then try disabling any Screensaver\Attract Mode stuff in GX...to see if it still locks up. If it doesn't lock then check and see if you have a Windows Screensaver set to run...if so...disable the Windows Screensaver then re-enable the GX Screensaver\Attract Mode stuff...and test again. If it did lock...then change your power saving settings to not turn stuff off or spin things down...basically keep things running as normal...then report back...
  16. lol
  17. Well disconnect the external and find out if it is contributing to the problem at hand....unless thats going to cause GX to throw a bunch of errors...at which point you may want to make a backup of your "C:\Program Files\GameEx\CONFIG\GameEx.ini" file then manually delete values from it that would contrib to GX complaining about the missing drive. That way we remove the external drive from the equation while still maintaining your default configuration information.
  18. Another thought on your load time issues with Mame...the roms what archive format are they in? Ideally they will be in TorrentZip format...and if not hopefully just Zip...I think Mame can handle 7zip & maybe even Rar...but with higher compressing comes longer load times...given that most the roms for Mame are very small high compression is not a desired thing as there would be very little gain in space savings...and a huge gain in load times.
  19. Question what does you commandline look like for launching Mame...I think Brain once mentioned that Tripple buffering will nuke performance on some systems...there is a fairly recent thread on this...you may want to search it out.
  20. As for your scrolling down through the Mame Game List....this might be an issue of incorrectly configured codec's if you are using Video snaps...if your not using video snaps...it could be the snap shots & titles names are not matching up with the roms...so GX is having to do more searching and guessing than what would be typical. Another possibility if its not video's being used is that the file format for the snaps\titles is not one of the preferred formats typically JPG & PNG...or the file extension has been changed to something other than what it is...which could also cause problems...so if anything try disabling snaps & titles for the time being to see if that speeds up your scrolling through the game list...at least it would help narrow things down.
  21. As for your monitor you're likely using a resolution and\or a refresh rate it doesn't support...most LCD's I think refresh at 60hz...so ideally set mame to run at your monitor's native resolution & refresh rate...same applies to GameEx.
  22. Oh be sure to cover the basic's as well...latest .Net installed 1,2 and 3....tho I think only 2 is required...but make sure to apply any updates to them...additionally make sure you have the latest DirectX installed for XP...I think its like 9.0c or something like that. If you have an ATI video card you may want to search the forum...there was an issue with them in some manner...but I don't recall what it was or how bad it was...and what needed to be done to solve the problem.
  23. hmmm... Okay try this run GX in window mode, along with Mame...launch a mame game from GX then bring up the task manager and see what is eating your cpu cycles...then report back.
  24. You are by far in the minority here....this is not typical by any means. What OS are you running?...is it stripped down?...is it warez?...do you have an up to date antivirus application...have you scanned fairly recently? Do you have a Anti-Spyware application...have you ran that recently?...have you defragged your system recently?...do you have a shit load of background applications running? Over all the nick you picked...and the context of your post seems like a troll. 1. Mame launching is dependent on the access time of your HDD...Mame loads with in a few milliseconds on my system & game is ready typically with in 2-3 seconds. 2. Mames running speed has nothing to do with GameEx 3. This has only happened to me when scanning for MP3's...and has more to do with my folder structure than GameEx Over all your post still seems like a troll...
  25. Good to hear. Yeah I noticed that Filter & Stereo Exciter effected sound in a bad way with the chd's...didn't fully test. Actually need some one with good hearing to dink around with it see if those or other sound values are worth bothering with...I'm slightly hard of hearing...in part because of being a carpenter...TNT going off 30 feet above you takes its toll over time....fucking bridges...hehe
