  1. I was wondering if it would be possible to add an option to the Advanced Emulator Setup screen to "Disable Horizontal Menu". In some game lists this menu has no practical value. I'd love to be able to turn it off in those cases. A similar request was also made here...
  2. Not sure about all your issues here, but I'd suggest keeping GameEx around and continuing to learn it even if you go back to HS. I had HS & GameEx installed side by side for a while and finally determined that GameEx was considerably easier to maintain over time. Once you get a few of its ideosyncracies under your belt, it really is a fantastic piece of software. Support is also superb. There are at least three or four bugs that I've found that Tom fixed within days and sometimes hours.
  3. Just a few notes: * While it is correct that you'll need to setup a separate emulator for MAME (i.e. create a custom mapfile), you don't need to disable MAME in Mame settings (or any other configured emulator) if you already have that setup. At least I don't seem to need to do this. When you turn on Fix To Emulator, just pick the number correlating to the emulator you setup for MAME under Emulator Selection. It would be great if Fix To Emulator worked for emulator 0 (MAME) or the Favorites list though. * I think the wheel works in just about any theme. I personally use default-Deep Purple as my theme, but the wheel seems to be selectable in other theme's I've tried including default-default. Just use change views before turning on Fix to Emulator and you should find it. I should note that if you're using video themes as the background video the theme you pick doesn't actually matter much since, you never really see it--the background video and wheel are effectively your theme. * If you like the pop-up descriptions in Arcade, be sure to turn on "Enable Popup Descriptions" under Display Settings. I can't remember whether that is turned on by default or not in standard GameEx.
  4. Should be easy. Before turning on the "Fix to Emulator" feature, use "Change View" in the front end until you see the wheel and things look the way you want. Then exit and turn on "Fix to Emulator". It should retain the view you selected sans the menus.
  5. Sorry, I see now you are using Arcade Edition. Regular GameEx has a "Fix to Emulator" option under the Enable/Disable features menu in the wizard. This is effectively GameEx Arcade "without the extras" (for me anyway). Normally I like "the extras", but sometimes during a party, I want a truly minimalistic setup. To do this I have a custom menu configured to use the wheel and containing my MAME games. The background video is set to use the video theme videos. I then use the Fix to Emulator option to force GameEx to boot straight to the game list, and that is effectively all you get--the game list and no more.
  6. I do this using the fix to emulator option.
  7. I've confirmed that both the page up/down and per-emulator wheel fix are in 14.70. Thanks for the Christmas present!
  8. Just tried this out. Very nice. Very easy. For those who complain that GameEx is too much like a Windows media player and just want a pure and snazzy arcade front end, this is it. With that said I'll be sticking with the full version of GameEx since I use a lot of console and computer emulators...which raises the obvious question: will GameEx be getting support for some of the graphical improvements seen here? For example, I can already use video themes in regular GameEx by just substituting the ordinary video snapshots with them and changing the view to show them in the background. But it would be nice to make video themes a first class feature by making it possible to map these separately per emulator in the wizard. I'd also like to see the ability (in regular GameEx) to turn on pop-up descriptions per emulator. Finally, it would also be nice to have a theme supporting the moving backround in the main menu. Along with the wheel (which is already there) I think these three changes would make regular GameEx configurable to be just as attractive as GEA. Two other questions. Is custom menu supposed to work with GE Arcade? There's a sample file, but I can't seem to make it do anything. Also, does CPWizard work? I turned it on in the wizard, but I don't see how to invoke it.
  9. Outstanding Tom! Issue is fixed.
  10. No, nothing like that. By your reply, however, I'm assuming you don't see this?
  11. Default - Deep Purple ... although the issue is also there in Default - Default.
  12. Hi Tom. Yes. This one works and allows me to configure lists with the wheel independently. It does show one oddity in that if I change the favorites list to use the wheel it also changes the main mame list to use the wheel. It would be nice to be able to configure these independently too, but this isn't actually a problem for me personally because I intend to keep both of those as ordinary lists (I'm only using the wheel on one custom list for now). Other than that, my limited testing seems to show that this works for everything else. Thanks!
  13. Just a note that this issue is still outstanding. When I change to the wheel in one emulator list, every emulator list is changed to use the wheel. The patched GameEx.exe that was attached to this thread mostly fixed this issue for me, but this fix was (apparently) not incorporated into the main releases. Since the patch doesn't work anymore with the latest versions, it would be great if it could be merged into the current releases as it does work well enough to allow me to use the wheel independently in the one list where I want to use it.
  14. I just noticed a little glitch today that may have been there for a while. With my settings, GameEx displays 20 games on a page. When I page down, it actually advances by 21 items, so every page down will fail to display one item between each page down operation. If I page down, then scroll back up by one item, I'll see the missing item. Page Up does the same thing. If I change the font size to show fewer items on a page, it still misses one item for each page down/up operation. I am using custom menus. GameEx.ini
  15. Never mind. All is well. Not actually sure what the problem was, but it seems to have gone away.
  16. This is strange. I just noticed today that joytokey no longer works with games launched from GameEx (like Refender, Atari800, etc.). I know they worked recently, and joytokey works perfectly if I launch the games outside of GameEx. I'm not sure if this is a GameEx issue or not, but I haven't made any other recent changes other than upgrading GameEx from time to time. If there is anyone else who is using the latest GameEx and joytokey, could you let me know if it is still working for you? That will at least tell me whether it is a general problem or if its something wonky on my machine.
  17. Sure thing. Looks like the menus that work in the top level menu are "Golden Age Arcade" (a custom mame list), "Arcade Hall of Fame" (my favorites list), and "Arcade Warehouse" (the main mame list). All of the other top-level custom menus can be changed, but are not sticky. These include "Laserdisc Arcade", "Modern Arcade", "Early Arcade", & "Top Console & Computer Games". The other menus, "Video Game Consoles", "Classic Computer Games", and "Modern Computer Games" all go to sub-menus of systems. All of those systems work properly. So really, the only menus that don't work are these four: "Laserdisc Arcade", "Modern Arcade", "Early Arcade", & "Top Console & Computer Games".
  18. When I change "Golden Age Arcade" to the wheel with this build, every other emulator list changes to the wheel including non-mame consoles. Everything. Colecovision, Vectrex, Intellivision, everything. With the test build in this thread changing Golden Age Arcade to a wheel affects that list and only that list. Consoles also work on a list by list basis in that build too. The only problem with the test build is that a few of the menus are not "sticky" and revert to the list view after exiting and reentering. In fact, the test build here works as a solution for me for the time being since the only menu (at the moment) that I'm enjoying the wheel view with happens to be the "Golden Age Arcade" list.
  19. I did the update install. At your suggestion I just downloaded the full installer and ran that, but the behavior remains unchanged. Basically, back to square one. No different than 14.56. The GameEx.exe attached to this thread works much better. I've attached my GameEx.ini as requested. GameEx.ini log.txt
  20. Still no Daphne logos for me, and view behaviors seem unchanged from 14.56.
  21. I just installed the new version (14.57) and behavior is exactly the way it had been previously. Changing to the wheel affects all emulator views, unlike the exe attached to this thread which was a definite improvement. I also continue not to see Daphne logos in the new release.
  22. Hi Tom, This is better, but not quite all the way there. I tried setting my first custom menu ("Golden Age Arcade") to the wheel and this time it worked. All other menus retained the list view. Good. I then set the next menu, "Arcade Hall of Fame", which is really my Favorites list to wheel. That worked too without changing any other menus (including the Golden Age Arcade list, which remained set to the wheel). Great. However, after setting Laserdisc Arcade to the wheel, I found that the setting does not stick. If you exit the menu and return, the Laserdisc Arcade menu goes back to a list view. I also found the same thing with other top level custom menus like Modern Arcade and Early Arcade. They don't stay set to the wheel, but return to a list view upon exit and re-entry. On the other hand, so far, all the lists under Video Game Consoles that I've tested so far seem to work. I can switch them to the wheel and they remain set to the wheel after exit and re-entry. So this is a great improvement, but something is still off. One other aside is that the list for Daphne games (in my custom Laserdisc Arcade) never shows Logos even though I have verified the path to them is correct in the setup wizard. The game names are always shown in ordinary text.
  23. Ok, here's my CustomMenu.ini. In regards to RedDog's comment, I should also mention that when I first turned on the wheel, it changed all my other menus to the wheel. I then went to another emulator (Colecovision in this case) and changed it back to a list view. This seemed to work as I could exit and enter the emulator and continued to see the list view. However, as soon as I went back to any menu having the wheel, everything would return to the wheel view. CustomMenu.ini
  24. I've attached my GameEx.ini and Log.txt. I am also using custom menus. It would be great if there is a way to do this. This ini was captured in the normal default list view. GameEx.ini log.txt
