  1. Ok Monitoring the task manager - I do see activity on both CPU's when enabled California Speed still has choppy sound Tekken 3 seems more smoother Carnevil seems more smoother so...COOL!!! But dont expect a night/day difference and Mame32 108u2 does not have a builtin option for this - need to add the "-mt" and launch games from command line Still...I am glad they are utilizing the untapped power
  2. 0.108u2 ------- MAMETesters Bugs Fixed ---------------------- loadstate0108u1red [Aaron Giles] dooyong0108u1red [Aaron Giles] deadang0108u1red [Aaron Giles] pang337b15gre [robiza] botanic080u1gra [robiza] Source Changes -------------- Fixed options_output_ini_file() and options_output_ini_mame_file() to properly handle string options containing spaces. [Nathan Woods] Fixed incorrect DIP switches in Trivia (Version 1.03), Selection, and Poker games (getrivia.c). [wolf676] Added PORT_DIPLOCATION macros to a number of drivers based on research. [Roberto Fresca] Fixed several issues with pausing and the multithreading code. [Nathan Woods] Cleaned up the vacfdisp module to display 14 and 16 segment displays. Added a separate character set for the OKI MSC1937. Changes Scorpion 2 to the new system. Tidied up the 6840 emulator a bit. [El Condor] Attempted to fix the bad Space Odyssey ROM by using data from the previous dump. It is still marked BAD_DUMP (we would like to get an actual dump), but the new Space Odyssey is now playable. [MASH] Removed recently-introduced case dependency in the ROM naming. [buddabing] Added new option -multithreading (-mt) which enables the previous multithreaded rendering code. This code has had problems on some systems, especially pre-XP systems, so consider it experimental. If you want to help debug issues, enable LOG_THREADS in windows/window.c and post them to MAMETesters.org with a description of your problem and your system. If you don't have hyperthreading, dual core, or a multi-CPU system, don't bother turning this flag on. [Aaron Giles] Changed the behavior of the led7seg primitive. It now no longer takes a state value but accepts states from 0-255, allowing independent control over all 7 segments and the decimal. Ordered the segments according to standard order. Updated the Turbo driver to do its own BCD decoding via an LS48 decoder to control the segments directly. This will break existing layouts using the led7seg primitive. [Aaron Giles] Further turbo driver cleanup. Still in WIP. [Aaron Giles] * derived sprite scaling from PROMs and R/C values (still not 100%) * rewrote most of the video/sprite handling * identified all PROMs and used them where appropriate * added a more complete 8279 implementation * converted 7-segment LEDs to the new behavior described above New games added or promoted from NOT_WORKING status --------------------------------------------------- Carrera (Version 6.7) [David Haywood] Swinging Singles [Tomasz Slanina] New clones added ---------------- Lethal Enforcers (4 sets) [Patrik Styrnell, David Haywood] Muroge Monaco (set 2) [Roberto Fresca]
  3. Here is what I purchased from eBay in my conquest to getting components to be a very low cost cabinet #1 The computer $285 This did not include a mouse or keyboard or drives....BUT.......... This 3.0 Ghz pentium can be overclocked to 3.8 Ghz and be stable at that rate I left it running California Speed in Mame all night long I monitored the cpu heat and it didnt seam it was running much hotter playing CS than sitting idle This is a very overclockable machine *built in graphics are not the best but again - mame doesnt care because it does not take advantage of hardware in graphics cards #2 The 20 LCD $121.00 The Dell monitor has all the connectors RCA-SVideo-GVA-DVI The specs show the refresh is slow but honestly - I dont see it I guess because in Mame screen rates max out at 60fps #3 The Arcade controls $88.95 * A 3 inch PS/2 Blue Translucent Trackball Mouse from Betson Imperial * 3 Blue Maximum Joysticks from Betson Imperial * 63 Arcade Push Buttons o 28 Blue Push Buttons from Betson Imperial o 16 White Push Buttons from Betson Imperial o 1 Red Push Button from Betson Imperial o 1 Green Push Button from Betson Imperial o 1 Player 1 Push Button from Betson Imperial o 1 Player 2 Push Button from Betson Imperial o 2 Blue Push Buttons from an Ebay Seller o 13 White Push Buttons from an Ebay Seller * A Total of 70 Microswitches o 58 Loose Microswitches for the Push Buttons o 12 Microswitches on the 3 Joysticks * 61 Nuts, to hold the Push buttons in place * About 101 end pieces that you solder to your wire ends that slide on and off of the microswitches * Y Mouse-Keyboard & Mouse Adapter for USB * A Gravis Gamepad Pro Usb Controller #5 Speakers $59.81 Bose speakers ok these are more high priced than what I wanted but... Bose ...and they sound great - crisp - loud Bose...man ...Bose #6 Mame controller TOKN 32 $47.95 Grand total $602.71 Now I got stuff laying around (keyboard, mouse, harddrive, and cd player) that I put in but if anyone was trying to keep up with costs...figure keyboard - $10 <---find cheapest...only need to configure stuff...I got one of those illuminated keyboards which helps out alot mouse - $4 <---find cheapest or borrow - trackball in unit will be mouse later cd player - $20 <--- find a clearance sale - only gonna use it to load OS...you could borrow one Harddrive - $80 <----this varies...suggest getting brand name - quality vs quantity This is miscellanious stuff and milage may vary on prices Now other things to get: Millstead 3/4 In. x 2 Ft. x 4 Ft. MDF Pre-cut Panels Model 15138 (Home Depot) $6.88 each x 5 =$34.40 Caster wheels 4 for $7.00 at Skycraft Geek Heaven *the prices on the website are higher than what they have instore LCD mount - this is hard to find at a decent price Radio shack has them at like $90 Sams had them at $30 but are no longer there...doh! This is one of those things I need to find cheap as possible...this will never be seen Maybe once the case is built - I might toss some decorations on it Inexpensive cool lights So I am coming in under $700 Minus time spent and Beers to be drank Too bad there was a WORK IN PROGRESS section here in the forums...as this is not a HELP ME thread more like a WANNA WATCH Cheers-n-stuff /|\
  4. One of these should fix it #1 Reinstall/upgrade video driver #2 Repair DirectX Get it from here #3 Remove and reinstall Windows Media Player start-settings-control panel-add/remove programs-windows components *this should ix a damaged player *I was messing with WMP and it messed up gameex similar to your message - I needed to restore it for gameex to work again
  5. Heres my problem... I got ZINC in one directory with its own ROMS directory I got MAME in its own directory with its ROMS in it Gameex seems like it runs ZINC but points to the the MAME roms directory The problem is when I run CLRMAMEPRO - when new version of mame and roms get released I run this to merge and keep MAME "clean" Well this alters the ZINC files in the MAME rom directory to conform with whatever the version of mame requires...so far its just renamed files within zip files This isnt a catastrophy but I keep forgetting this and when I run CLRMAMEPRO - this makes ZINC games in Gameex not launch (complains it cant find files in the roms) I have to manually modify about 75 ROMS in the MAME roms directory to get ZINC working again in Gameex Is there a way in Gameex to make ZINC its own emualtor and not part of the MAME section as Playstation? Or something in CONFIGURATION that makes ZINC/PLAYSTATION chosen games use the zinc roms directory Either option would be cool
  6. I use ZINCFE to launch zinc Its also lets me remap the keys What I do it run ZINCFE and remap keys and buttons *you need to get WinterBlasts zinc controller file...I forget why but I remeber this was something that fixed a ton of problems Now once you get keys remapped and ZINCFE plays the games as expected - exit zinfe Now it should work in Gameex FYI - for some reason the controls would revert back (or to something else) I set all al files in ZINC directory that began with CONTROLLER*.* to read-only This kept my keys from changing
  7. Atari800

    I QUIT

i played it out until before 2nd match it froze, escaped out with no problem, and now it won't launch again. I bet if you rebooted it would play again...it may hang again too I am thinking it "choked" and something remained resident in memory thats why it didnt launch I seriuosly doubt Gameex is the cause and it sounds like you already got the emulator setup in Gameex A couple of things - #1 look at c:\program files\games\logs\log.txt If Gameex caused the problem it may be in there If Gameex detected the crash of Chankast - it may be in there too #2 Cut the problem in half Eliminate Gameex all together Make sure Chankast runs as is with nothing else resident in memory Does the problem always happen in the same place? With and without Gameex running? Do other games choke on Chankast? With and without Gameex running? It is time related - like after about 10 minutes it occurs (I dunno...screensaver, power saver)...at least it may give a clue #3 Check resources If your running low on memory - it could be Chankast died because of some delay while Windows was swapping stuff out to swapfile Theres a ton of things that can be the fault here but you need to do some detective work too "It played - then stopped - then wont play again" is like going to the doctors office and just saying "ouch!"
  8. Ok - I couldnt grasp "how" it would work at all nor could I find any info on this type of technology I was thinking maybe predictive - something like High Level Emulation for single processor apps CPU running the program, the other CPU analyzing the instructions and predicting its potential needs. I know that is a little far fetched Toms right - develop programs that are mult-processor aware Best solution
  9. Have you checked out the HELP in Future Pinball? The command line is "future pinball.exe" /open "[rompath]\[romfile]" /play /exit Not infront of Gameex to tell you exaclty what to put in configuration but that command line works
  10. This was from another site - one of those threads on INTEL vs AMD so this could be just BS I couldnt find any info out there It bears mentioning, AMD has come up with a way to enable dual core processors to be recognized as a single more powerful/faster processor for applications which are written for single core processors... This means dual core users wil be able to benefit on a much greater variety of applications and games. The process is a matter of new downloadable instruction sets for the system as opposed to a physical hardware change. Consequently when it becomes available in the coming months, present dual core users will benefit from it.... Intel is working on a similar process. Tech sites and magazines should be running articles on it in the next few weeks... If anyone knows what this technology is called If anyone seen an article If anyone seen anything - update this thread If true then this may be what MAME is looking for to run CarnEvil at playable speeds
  11. Isnt there a simpler way? Once I got the Gameex buttons setup - I redefined MAME buttons within mame to match my layout Then I used ZINCFE to redefine the buttons within ZINC -I think I had to use the Winterblast plugin for some reason because of x-arcade

  13. probably wont work with mame32 He mentions... t is supported by derivative or unofficial builds that add to the basic (and already fantastic) functionality that MAME provides. Two such builds are MAME 32 Plus and MAME 32 FX. he also mentions zetaMAME32 But no mention of Mame32 (plain vanilla) Try one of those versions and report if it still works
  14. Hahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
  15. Info only shows updates to 6.58
  16. nevermind - I understand overlays Video stretching Your stuck in a catch 22 You'll notice that if you play any video (dvd, mpg, avi), they will all bleed over If you turn off overscan, then you get the border around everything except videos Its not Daphne - it VIDEO OVERLAY settings The only real option is to get another video card - ATI has options to match video source or stretch video in addition to monitor (display) fine grained adjustments You can look for hacked video drivers (DNA or OMEGA) ..try alternate driver - or get different video card...not much more to offer here
  17. Overlays in Daphne? Where do you set them on or off?
  18. Here is the direct links for mame plus plus or mame++ *Hope I am not breaking any board rules if I am...if so sorry I didnt know Mame32 Plus Plus 108 Kaillera Client for Mame 32 ++
  19. Pentium 3.06 HT 1 gig ram Nvidia 6200 (free upgrade from geforce 4 that was in there - woohoo) Carnevil Direct 3d Averages about 32/57 Spiked upto 41...fell to 18 (maybe 10) In mameplusplus - If I turned off THROTTLING and it seemed to stay up at 44 but when the Jester head was bobbing around before the game play it seems to just hover at 28 I was running a 0 frameskipping (not auto) and the sound was "Chop-chopy-py-py" Remember guys - turn on task manager and look at the PERFORMANCE tab and also processes dual core/hyperthreading - you'll see only 1 cpu is used (or 50%) Mame is not hyperthreading/dual core optimized So even those with 32 CPUS that are liquid nitrogen cooled and got a terabyte of human blood enhanced memory...its not in the current design to take advantage of that Now run a test of cruching a DVD to a 100 meg avi while playing CARNEVIL....there you will see a test of power
  20. awesome!! FYI on optimized builds (also not to insult your intelligence if you already know) AMD optimized Pentium Optimized The are recompiles with special parameters because of the differences in cache sizes and capabilies of the processors AMD optimized can run on a pentium processor Pentium optimized can run on AMD But the amount of data to grab at a time to process would be different Say default build grabs 256k of data is grabbed per chunk and processed An AMD build maybe set to grab 2 meg (equivilent to on board cache) *more data grabbed at same time A Pentium may grab 1 meg but enable pentium specific math functions A Cyrix build may grab 128k of data instead of 256K (it would read twice, once for the 1st half, then again for the 2nd half) Granted I dont know specifics but compilers usually have optimized for AMD, PENTIUM, CYRIX, maybe 486, K5 (old amd) ...and it wont make a NIGHT-and-DAY difference but it can buy some extra frames per second If you are into it - look up FASTMAME on google - I remember seeing some stuff out there on how this guy optimized this build - it play some racing game pretty fast. He abandoned his projects from what I remember
  21. not to get off subject...did you see that guys sempron run Carnevil? Did it run like water?
  22. No...go here and get mameplusplus - its a special UNOFFICIAL build of mame DDEmeMame (Japanese site) (look at top of screen for link) When you get to that site (it in japanese) go to bottom of that page to download *Sorry at work - limited time for a good update here
  23. Building 2nd Cabinet now Slow process as I am trying to build it with minimum cost so far 3 Joysticks, 1 trackball (usb), 63 buttons $88.95 TOKN32 controller $47.95 INTEL P4 531 3.0GHz BAREBONES w/1024MB+X200 256M+SATA $285.00 NEW 64-BIT 1MB CACHE, DDR2 PC4200, PCI-EXPx16, 450W PS Dell 2000FP 20.1" Flatpanel $121 Total so far $542.90 Need hard drive, wood, hinges, LDC wall mount, wheels, paint
  24. If this helps any.. I got errors similar to this when I tried to replace Windows Media Player with Media Player Classic Long story short - I needed to reinstall video driver and DirectX Long Story Link I didnt loose any info - Gameex remained the same
