Personally one of the reasons why I chose to use gameex was because I liked the mce look. You can easily change that though if you don't like it. Like you mentioned the user submitted thems don't resemble mce at all imo. I personally find gameex to be the easiest as well as most featureful fe available. Now I have a question though you posted that you gx can import mamewah themes. I had no clue, and how do you do this, simple just place them in the themes directory?

download a free program called gspot. It will tell you what codec is needed for the particular file your trying to play.
-
Try turning off the filter in the advance mame settings.

check this site out should have everythign you need http://localarcade.com/screenshotarchive/scans.htm

I have two that I use one for gba and one for regular gameboy/color. I use the same emulator visualboyadvance for both however. Here is the gba config [Emulator_9] Enabled=True DumbyValue= STARTPAGENAME=Gameboy Advance TITLETEXT=Gameboy Advance StartPageLogo=GameBoyAdvance ROMFilter= RomsInFolders=False RomPath=C:\Documents and Settings\Stephen\Desktop\Arcade\Emulators\GBA\ROMS SnapPath=C:\Documents and Settings\Stephen\Desktop\Arcade\Emulators\GBA\snaps TitlePath= BoxPath= CartPath= WorkingPath=C:\Documents and Settings\Stephen\Desktop\Arcade\Emulators\GBA MapKeys=True WaitBeforeKeys=1500 SendKeys={esc} ReplaceDash=True ReplaceUnder=True Capitals=True RemoveBrackets=True ShowDesktop=True Debug=False MAPFile= AlsoLaunch= Command=VisualBoyAdvance.exe "[ROMPath]\[RomFile]" OLDatZip= LaunchBefore= LaunchAfter= configFile= ExcludedFiles= CustomBackground= PlayMusic= PCGame= DATABASE= GamesIn7Zips= Here is the gb config [Emulator_10] Enabled=True DumbyValue= STARTPAGENAME=Gameboy TITLETEXT=Gameboy StartPageLogo=GameBoy ROMFilter= RomsInFolders=False RomPath=C:\Documents and Settings\Stephen\Desktop\Arcade\Emulators\gameboy\Game Boy Roms SnapPath=C:\Documents and Settings\Stephen\Desktop\Arcade\Emulators\gameboy\snaps TitlePath= BoxPath= CartPath= WorkingPath=C:\Documents and Settings\Stephen\Desktop\Arcade\Emulators\GBA MapKeys=False WaitBeforeKeys=1500 SendKeys={esc} ReplaceDash=True ReplaceUnder=True Capitals=True RemoveBrackets=True ShowDesktop=True Debug=False MAPFile= AlsoLaunch= Command=VisualBoyAdvance.exe "[ROMPath]\[RomFile]" OLDatZip= LaunchBefore= LaunchAfter= configFile= ExcludedFiles= CustomBackground= PlayMusic= PCGame= DATABASE= GamesIn7Zips=

Ok I've just now had time to try everything out. So far the genesis one works great (thanks adultrey), but I'm having problems with visualboy advanced now. I did what you said within the config for both gameboy and gameboy advance and switched the map keys to yes, and now when I load it through gameex it loads the game for 5 seconds like its going to work and then immediately exits back to gameex. I turned the map keys to no again and it played the game fine, but I still had to exit out through the emulator which I'm trying to avoid.
-
I'll try this when I get home from work tonight guys. Thanks for the responses, especially adultrey, you've helped me with the majority of my emulator issues.

First I'd like to thank everyone for all the help they've given me setting all my emulators up and with all the configs. I have two slight problems left and hopefully someone has a answer to them. First and the less important one. In some emulators for example the gba one I use visualboyadvance when I'm using it through gameex and hit esc it pulls up the menu and I have to use a mouse to scroll down and exit. No big deal just wondering if there was a quick fix. Second more urgent problem. When using Fusion for my genesis and 32x roms Every other time I start it through game ex its not full screen. The reason is because when I want to exit out of it I hit esc which takes me back to gamex but also toggles it out of full screen. I was wondering if anyone knew a fix for this as well. Thanks in advance everyone.

Ill probably just buy an enclosure and make one out of a extra hd laying around. Anyone know if they make sata enclosures yet don't have them at best buy. The snaps worked good on size, but ran into a few nes ones that had a funny tint to them, dont know why. The n64 that I did were harder because of all the dumb intro crap, so most of the snaps are just no controller found. I'll probably delete those and only makes ones for gen and snes and gameboy as they don't have as many of the intro stuff. If anyone know why the majority of my nes ones have a green tint let me know.
-
yeah I have 7 gigs left, as I'm trying to do my whole machien on a 40gb hd I had laying around for now. Has anyone after having all there emulators and settings done ever used ghost, and just made an image of the entire hd. I'm thinking about doing that and moving it over to another hd when I get one.
-
How much space do snaps usually take up for the emulated systems. For example I have around 700 snes, 700 nes and around 150 n64 that I wanna create snaps for, but I'm limited on space.

Got kega working for my genesis/2 game gear roms. Any other sega roms I should look into getting like 32x or sega cd. What were some good games for those?
-
Sure if you'd drop me a config file for kega I'd appreciate it. I'll b e at work from 7 am til 11 today for a stupid meeting, so I might not be able to try it until tomorrow. Also what's the difference is Kega, and Kega fusion? Wow fusion doesn't require you to switch to 16 bit video mode which is great. I'll definately add this one in sometime today or tomorrow.
-
Honestly I was using kega for awhile, and actually downloaded gens because it had a config on here. But now that I understand the basics of what the config does it shouldn't matter. I'll probably just go back to kega anyway as I've used it for a few years now. I'll try it tomoorrow and let everyone know how its going. Also I'm looking on zophar.net, should I just get the regular version or the lazarus version. I know the regular one makes you switch to 16bit color mode will that be a problem
-
wow I feel like an idiot now On the snes emulator i had downloaded it probably a year ago, and gotten the config last night. I was using snes9x instead of zsnes lol So I download zsnes instead and works fine now. I feel stupid. anyway with the Gens one still not luck, which is nto a big a deal as snes. I still haven't tried game gear and gba which I'll do sometime soon I have to work today and the rest of the weekend. If anyone has any pointers on the gens one let me know, and thanks to everyone that's helped so much.
-
Thanks for the tips. There on the desktop because this will be in my mame cab Im building, so I won't have anything else on there easy access. All the emulators work fine when I try to load them without gameex thats whats so weird. So now the n64 is working after I switched it to show desktop, which is great Snes and gens still not working, but they were doing something a little different anyway. They load up and then exit right back to the gameex software.
-
I think it would be great. Of course I just went through the whole trying to figure it out today, and I admit that would have helped alot. Thankful I atleast have the forum to ask question for now:) Hopefully I'll get all the problems settled soon.

Alright here they are, I'm actually using a seperate INI for every emulator Fce ultra which is now working fine [Emulator_4] Enabled=True StartPageName=Nintendo NES Games TitleText=NES StartPageLogo=nes RomFilter=*.nes RomsInFolders=False ROMPath=C:\Documents and Settings\Stephen\Desktop\Arcade\Emulators\NES SnapPath=C:\Documents and Settings\Stephen\Desktop\Arcade\Emulators\NES\FCE_ULTRA\SNAPS WorkingPath=C:\Documents and Settings\Stephen\Desktop\Arcade\Emulators\NES\FCE_ULTRA MapKeys=True WaitBeforeKeys= SendKeys= ReplaceDash=True ReplaceUnder=True Capitals=True RemoveBrackets=True AlsoLaunch= ShowDesktop=False Debug=False Command=fceu.exe "[ROMPath]\[RomFile]" Gens which goes to black screen then back to gameex like zsnes [Emulator_8] Enabled=True StartPageName=Sega Genesis Games TitleText=Sega Genesis StartPageLogo=genesis RomFilter= RomsInFolders=False ROMPath=C:\Documents and Settings\Stephen\Desktop\Arcade\Emulators\SEGA\ROMS SnapPath=D:\Emulation\Sega Games\Genesis\Shots WorkingPath=C:\Documents and Settings\Stephen\Desktop\Arcade\Emulators\SEGA\gens+00339 MapKeys=True WaitBeforeKeys= SendKeys= ReplaceDash=True ReplaceUnder=True Capitals=True RemoveBrackets=True AlsoLaunch= ShowDesktop=False Debug=False Command=gens.exe "[ROMPath]\[RomFile]" Zsnes same as above [Emulator_2] Enabled=True StartPageName=Nintendo SNES TitleText=Nintendo SNES StartPageLogo=snes RomFilter=*.smc RomsInFolders=False ROMPath=C:\Documents and Settings\Stephen\Desktop\Arcade\Emulators\SNES\roms SnapPath=C:\Art\Snes\Snap WorkingPath=C:\Documents and Settings\Stephen\Desktop\Arcade\Emulators\SNES\SNES9X MapKeys=False WaitBeforeKeys= SendKeys= ReplaceDash=True ReplaceUnder=True Capitals=True RemoveBrackets=False AlsoLaunch= ShowDesktop=False Debug=False MapFile= OLDatZip= Command=Zsnesw.exe "[ROMPath]\[RomFile]" TitlePath=C:\Art\SNES\Titles BoxPath=C:\Art\SNES\boxart CartPath=C:\Art\SNES\Carts LaunchBefore= Project 64 is basicing doing what the nes one did just going to a black screen and sitting until I hit esc [Emulator_1] Enabled=True StartPageName=Nintendo 64 TitleText=N64 StartPageLogo=n64 RomFilter= RomsInFolders=False ROMPath=C:\Documents and Settings\Stephen\Desktop\Arcade\Emulators\N64\ROMS SnapPath=D:\Games\Project64\snaps WorkingPath=C:\Documents and Settings\Stephen\Desktop\Arcade\Emulators\N64 MapKeys=True WaitBeforeKeys= SendKeys= ReplaceDash=True ReplaceUnder=True Capitals=True RemoveBrackets=True AlsoLaunch= ShowDesktop=False Debug=False MapFile=n64x OLDatZip=C:\Program Files\OfflineList0.7\datas\n64_OL.zip Command=Project64.exe "[ROMPath]\[RomFile]" TitlePath= BoxPath= LaunchBefore= LaunchAfter= CartPath= configFile= DumbyValue= ExcludedFiles= CustomBackground= PlayMusic= PCGame= DATABASE=

I just check and the quotation marks were there, any other ideas? Just tried N64 as well, and its going to a black screen and staying like the nes was doing, but I've changed the settings in the project 64 like I was suppose to.
-
Alright this is what I have. I fixed the nes and they seem to be working fine. I had to go in and change it to open up to full screen. Now I'm having a problem with Znes and gens+. Both of them display games fine, but when you try to play a game it goes to a black screen like before, but then quickly exits back to gameex. Any ideas? Im going to wait and try the gba, n64, gamegear until I find out whats wrong with these.
-
alright I figured out all my questions pretty much, but I'm having a problem. I load up gameex it shows the NES and all the roms just like it should, but when I click on a game to play it just go to a black screen and sits.
-
In mame32 I have the filter set to NOT display not working games. That gives me a total of 5386 games. The ones that are not working are blocked which is like 6140. In game ex I get 5036 or close to that. So you might want to look in mame32's filters like the above poster said.

Alright I've gotten a few configs for various emulators from the pinned topic, and I have a few questions. First can I simple combine all of the configs into one ini file? If so would it matter what I name it. Do I simple place the config file into the emulator config folder in the game ex directory? what about the ones that are already in there the zsnes and project64 ones do I just leave them along. Finally what do I have to change in the gameex configuration itself. I see a place where you can add emulators in gameex itself, do I still need to change it if i have these config files. Sorry for all the questions just trying to understand everything exactly.
