  1. Check what format your roms are in. If they're extracted, nevermind. If not, check if they're 7z. If they are 7z, make sure you have GameEx configured to use 7z support. I've found that almost no emulator out there can recognize 7z. So if your roms are merged 7z's, that could be the problem. You might also try enabling that option if they're just plain zipped too.
  2. YAY! My consoles are now all installed and in system! Not all available consoles out there are included, for various reasons, but the jist of them are. There's a few that need tweaks, but it's pretty much said and done. I still want to figure out how to get the Intellivision to not be a stretched 16x9 aspect, and I still need to get a lot of the artworks. I also need to setup my controller for a lot of these, but the roms and emulators are in place! The Atari Jaguar is setup with Project Tempest, but its still a little buggy at the moment. The Casio Loopy is installed, with the MESS setup, but it doesn't work yet according to the MESS guys. Here's my list of consoles. 0 Stars means I either don't have the ROMS (as is such for CD consoles) or working emulators, 1 star means it's installed and working, 2 stars means I have associated artwork, 3 stars means I have videos too. 1972 Magnavox Odyssey * 1976 Fairchild Channel F *** 1977 Atari 2600 (VCS) * 1977 Bally Astrocade * 1977 RCA Studio II 1978 Interton VC 4000 1978 Magnavox Odyssey 2 * 1979 Mattel Intellivision * 1981 VTech CreatiVision * 1981 Epoch Super Cassette Vision * 1982 Atari 5200 * 1982 Coleco ColecoVision * 1982 Emerson Arcadia 2001 * 1982 Entex Adventure Vision * 1982 GCE Vectrex * 1983 Casio PV-1000 * 1983 Magnavox Odyssey 3 (Philips Videopac+) * 1983 Sega SG-1000- * 1984 Atari 7800 * 1985 Nintendo NES * 1986 Nintendo Famicom Disk System * 1986 Sega Master System 1987 Atari XEGS * 1989 NEC TurboGrafx-16 (PC-Engine) * 1989 NEC SuperGrafx (PC-Engine 2) ** 1989 Sega Genesis * 1990 Amstrad GX4000 1990 SNK Neo Geo ** 1991 Nintendo SNES 1991 Phillips CD-i [uSES CD'S] 1992 Sega CD [uSES CD'S] * 1993 Atari Jaguar 1993 Commodore Amiga CD32 [uSES CD'S] 1993 Panasonic 3DO [uSES CD'S] * 1993 Sega Pico 1994 Bandai Playdia [uSES CD'S] 1994 NEC PC-FX [uSES CD'S] ** 1994 Sega 32X 1994 SNK Neo Geo CD [uSES CD'S] 1995 Apple Pippin [uSES CD'S] 1994 Atari Jaguar CD [uSES CD'S] * 1995 Casio Loopy * 1995 Funtech Super A'Can * 1995 Nintendo Virual Boy 1995 Sega Saturn [uSES CD'S] 1995 Sony PlayStation [uSES CD'S] ** 1996 Nintendo N64 1999 Sega Dreamcast [uSES CD'S] 2000 Sony PlayStation 2 [uSES CD'S] 2001 Microsoft Xbox [uSES CD'S] 2001 Nintendo GameCube [uSES CD'S] 2005 Microsoft Xbox 360 [uSES CD'S] 2006 Nintendo Wii [uSES CD'S] 2006 Sony PlayStation 3 [uSES CD'S] These are just my consoles. My next venture is handhelds, and then computers, then I'll try and retackle setting up pinball. I might even go as far this time as to setup Daphne to play some Dragon's Lair. Is there anything else I'm missing in the console area? Also, anybody know where I can get an associated artwork set for use with the ParaJVE (Vectrex)?
  3. Ok, I just downloaded "Project64_1.7.0.50b23(Oct-2010)". It installed like a snap. I was quickly able to configure it for my controller with the built in plugin setting. If it's any help, the Options->Settings window displays the Plugin as "Jabo's DirectInput7 1.7.0.8". Tested on Super Mario 64 and it works great!
  4. Awesome work as always Tom!
  5. I have a Samsung 47-in LCD, connected via HDMI to my Denon AVR-591 Surround Receiver. It's connected to my PC via HDMI->DVI adapter plug. I don't have this problem on any other emulators, which is why it's a Bliss-specific problem.
  6. Tried it, didn't help. Kinda sucks. oh well.
  7. Its wierd that an emulator programmer wouldn't include something to maintain a proper aspect ratio. I mean, even if the rom is programmed with a wider-than-average resolution (as many games do), there should be some way of emulating a 4:3-type aspect ratio since that's what the consoles would be hooked up to. I think MESS does this, allowing an emulation of 4:3. When you hit TAB, you can change the aspect to 4:3, Pixel, etc. Maybe I'll just go back to MESS. Too bad, cause I like how Bliss can emulate the voice chip.
  8. Its been a long time for me since I last setup N64. It's on my "to-do" list, and I might be doing it in the near future. In my case, last time I set it up, I had to use a program that came with my controller (Saitek p2500) to remap the buttons to keyboard keys. I then had the program load up that layout when the emulator started via the "load before" option in the setup. I don't remember which emulator I used though, and it may have been updated since to allow a remap within the program itself. Your emulator might do the same, but I'm assuming not since you're having trouble. As for your live game tag, are you referring to the GameEx or Xbox tag? In either case, you need to adjust your forum profile to have the embedded image linked in your signature. For the GameEx tag, you need to go here to set one up. After that, you'll get an email with the instructions. Just copy the embeded [image] url to your signature. For the Xbox tag, there's quite a few places you can use that will pull your info. Most people here are using this site. After you enter your tag, it gives you the forum codes to use. Just put that in your signature!
  9. Thanks Tom. I'm just trying to remember now how everything was setup. Theres a lot of cool new features it'll take me a while to figure out.
  10. Yeah my mistake. When I wrote that, I assumed it was No-Intro since that's what I always get. It's not, it's GoodINTV v2.03. Alright, I can live with it stretched. So now the question is; is Nostalgia any good? Does it support gamepad configuring and maintaining aspect ratio?
  11. Ok cool. Just didn't know if it was a bug or something. Trying to do my part and support ya best I can.
  12. It's all good from my point of view. I'm just a causal gamer. I don't know enough about these systems to really get down and dirty and want to be able to play EVERYTHING. I probably never will. The purpose of my question (and thread stealing ) was to see if I could cut some hard drive space by not having multiple copies of the same rom, for the sake of being able to play them on different emulators.
  13. Yeah that's a wierd one for me. I'm just getting back in to GameEx scene, and I remember just a few days ago trying to figure out ParaJVE. I had a couple of different problems. I manually changed the command line to also include [rompath] which I didn't need because of the wrapper. I also didn't know how that advanced config editor worked, and figured out all I had to do was SAVE the config! Glad you got it working.
  14. Could be.. Strange thing though, the older version of Bliss didn't like the BIOS files from the no-intro rom set. It only liked the ones from the MESS set. I suppose the BIOS could be an issue. Also, the older version said very clearly in the readme that it required the BIOS's, but there's nothing saying that in the new version I have now.
  15. Yeah, I really hate playing games on my Widescreen that get stretched. With Bliss now, it actually looks ZOOMed in. The top and bottoms are cut off so the sides can fill the screen. This might be a limitation by design on my TV, as I have seen similar issues with other emulators when I drop the resolution way down. Hopefully we can figure out a solution though, my new future stepmom had an Intellivision and I'm sure she'd love to play it. I just hate the idea of her seeing it not as it was.
  16. Alright, I got it and it does work much better. The controls I were able to remap to my controller! Now to figure out how to get it keep the aspect ratio.
  17. Awesome; scratch 1 console off the list!
  18. Is there a distinction between the ROMS used in NEOGEO based arcade games (that MAME may/not play) and the NEOGEO AES (home system) roms? I guess what I'm asking is, I have a full rom set from MAME, do I need to download a separate rom set for the AES. If not, I'll scratch it off my list of consoles I need to get/install/setup.
  19. Ok, I'm having a little difficulty setting up Bliss (Intellivision Emulator). I have it able to launch from GameEx, and load a ROM, but that's it. Lets start at the beginning. I was originally using MESS for Intellivision, but I read some reviews that Bliss is the one to go to for that system. So I tried to find it and install it. This has been rather difficult. Google found it at sourceforge but it doesn't have any links to download it. Sourceforge says "The Bliss Intellivision Emulator is no longer maintained at SourceForge. See the offical website at http://bliss.kylesblog.com for access to the Bliss source code." So I tried to go to that link, and it's dead. Google shows the next viable link as Zophar's Domain. There's lots of files here, so I grabbed the one "1.9d Bliss32". This is a self contained zip that is what I'm working with.. Should I have grabbed one of the others, like v1.61 (BlissJ), v1.61 (BlissJWeb), or v1.61 (BlissJX)? I read the Readme.txt and it says I need the two rom chips (bios'), so I extracted them to the Bliss folder from the MESS rom set. It also says the controls are HARD SET and non-configurable. When a rom is loaded however, these keys DON'T WORK. The only key that seems to do anything is the ESCAPE key to bring up the menu. I can then use the arrow/enter keys to move around within the menu, but thats it. So here's my questions: How can I remap the controls? I know it's got to be possible because in other threads here, people have reported being able to do it. How can I set the emulator to follow aspect ratio? Right now, my roms load up full screen, filling the entire 16x9 frame, thus ugly stretching happens. Will installing a different version of Bliss solve my problems? Again, I should mention that this is all related to the emulator setup. GameEx works fine with this emulator as far as launching it and the roms.
  20. Man, I'd love to get my hands on all those prizes. Too bad I just don't have the skill. I tried my hand at making a Theme way back before V2 themes. It sucked so bad by the time I was done, I just broke down and used somebody elses. Good job ahead of time to whoever wins!
  21. Either the setup part of this doesn't work, or I'm just completely lost. I assumed this was an addition to the Setup Wizard. There's a section under the "Input Settings" screen, called "Global Exit". I thought this was what was added. It already had some keys entered for the Joystick exit, so I cleared them out. The [...] button prompts me to press a button to use. I press a button, it logs it. I tried using this with just 1 button, didn't work. I went back and pressed another button thinking I needed at least two and need to press BOTH to have it exit back to GameEx. Didn't work again. It's like nothing happens. Is there another setting somewhere else that I'm overlooking? Something like a "Enable Global Exit Keys" or something? [EDIT] I got it to work now with MAME, but not with other emulators. I went to the emulators 2nd screen, and clicked the [...] under "Advanced Config" to bring up the Advanced config Editor. I noted that MOST of the emulators were all configured to use "[Mapping Off] Exit (Process Close).ini" so I opened that one. There's a tab there labeled "Game Pad Exit" which I figured was where I needed to go. I cleared all the preset buttons, and set to True the ones the Setup Wizard had detected before (button 8 and button 9 in my case). Everything else is clear. That didn't work. The popup blurb in the Setup Wizard says this will work regardless of custom input as long as the emulator is setup to exit on Escape. Well, pressing Escape does exit my emulators because of the Advanced Config is configured with that flag enabled. So why doesn't the Game Pad exit work? [EDIT 2] YAY! My smarts triumph again! I thought to myself "maybe he means it will work, as long as the Escape key is going to exit the Emulator, and I don't HAVE to configure a Game Pad Exit in the Advanced Config". So I loaded up the ini in the Advanced Config Editor again, and this time just unticked the Enabled box. Works fine now!
  22. I don't think it's pulling all the arcade games from the website. I played Sonic the Hedgehog on the website, but it's not listed in GameEx. Might need doublechecked.
  23. I clicked on the [...] button, which brought up an advanced config editor.. I told it to watch for that process, then closed it... THATS MY PROBLEM!! I just discovered there is a SAVE and I had to load that file I saved... DUH! Works great now!
  24. Ok, it sounded like I launched the game, but I don't think I have the Advanced Config setup right to watch the javaw.exe.
