Some of you may know, I work for Union Pacific Railroad. I work an extra board that covers when people take vacation or are sick and I'm on call 24/7. Sometimes, as an extra board employee, I get to see some of the nasty derailments and accidents that tend to happen in my field. Some rad, some not so rad. This was a not so rad day. Well that's if you like brand new American made cars like I do. A loaded westbound auto train derailed 4 cars on the heavy grade (2% grade) right outside of Colfax, CA and then dragged them a mile before stopping. Here's what it looked like from the cab of the locomotive - This was taken after we laid the new rail panels down - More carnage (notice the wheel axels off to the left) - Another cool angle (the far one that's peeled open had the real goods in it) - The not-so new Chevy Equinox! UP bought all these vehicles btw - Here is the real goods. This whole car, full of Camaros. Ouch. - It makes me what to cry...
