    My Website

Hello everyone, Tom has been kind enough to give me my own webspace on the GameEx server, I've never made a website before, so i thought i'd give it a try, just to see how web-design works..it's going to be a fun project! Its harder than i thought it would be (in particular the layout of pages) but im making progress...naturally the gameex page was the first section i've got stuck into, in fact its the only page thats done so far The other pages will show some of the other types of creative work i've done in the past. So...if anyone is bored drop by the site, and have a look, it will be updated pretty regularly, im adding to it most nights after work. Comments appreciated Alan http://alan.gameex.net p.s. thanks again Tom
  2. Updated 'Selector Bar' for 'Hybrid Blue' and 'Hybrid Blue Widescreen' (Vista Style) Snap: Download: Hybrid_Blue___Vista_Selector_Bar.zip (Overwrite the images in the hybrid blue folder with the ones included in the download)
  3. The database is a great feature, definately one of GameEx's selling points. (Getting all philosophical after a few pints ) But i'd like the option to disable the database too, i really like big screenshots of the games, plus like a lot of people i dont have a huge amount of mame roms. [EDIT] Tom would it be possible to re-activate the background for the mame page? (MAMEbak.png). p.s. keep up the good work, its coming on leaps & bounds!
  4. Hi Quinn, the only errors i have had previously with mce, was when it launched while gameex was still running as a process (the 2 cant be running at the same time me thinks). Here's a long shot which could fix the problem....You could try adding a delay between gameex and mce by using a batch file. Try using this setting in GameEx: LaunchOnExit=MCE Delay.bat or LaunchOnExitNoWait=MCE Delay.bat Create the following batch files using notepad and name them 'WAIT.bat, and 'MCE Delay.bat', and place them in the gameex directory, (both of them must be in the same folder). WAIT.bat @ping 127.0.0.1 -n 2 -w 1000 > nul @ping 127.0.0.1 -n %1% -w 1000> nul MCE Delay.bat CALL WAIT 4 The number after CALL WAIT denotes the amount of time delay, this can go as high as 9 seconds. It might work....
  5. Nice update Tom; Some really nice features! i just noticed that a program called 'Ghostscript' was installed with the new version in 'C:\Program Files\gs', should this be installed in the gameex directory? Also is it safe to delete the folder after uninstalling? amos
  6. Nice one Emph, very clean I've been meaning to say that i really like your gameex bezel (the one with the mame logo on each side with a grid), i spotted it months ago on gameex live. Any chance you'd share it? I bet it would be really popular!
  7. I think it will do, if you have modified the theme, then i would copy the folder & rename it to something like 'My MCE Glossy', and select that as your current theme.
  8. Me too, I was gone for a few days, & it feels like i was in a coma! Great updates Tom!
  9. I havent used the kill process in the advanced config, but here's what is says: #Additional processes to wait to exit or close on exit. Dont include the .exe. Leave blank not to use. Process1= Process2= Process3= Process4= (C:\Program Files\GameEx\CONFIG\EMULATORS)
  10. You can map two joysticks, just click on 'joystick 2' in the joytokey window. The config file has another section [Joystick 2]. You may be able to map more if you play around with the config, ie make a [Joystick 3] section. Alternatively, if you need to map more than 2, you could try using a batch file to launch multiple instance of joytokey, or use the advanced config in gameex to map a third controller. The advanced config can also be used to kill an extra process (if you were launching multiple instances of joytokey). Are you tempted yet Ling
  11. Nice one Headkaze, just a quick question... on the first gameex snap, the title text 'mame games' has a gradient, how did you manage to get that? Is this a glimpse of a new feature, or something you've been playing around with?
  12. Definately one of the best themes, i love the overlay on the video...very smart. Nice one Headkaze!
  13. This one looks pretty hot http://www.ps3grill.com/
  14. Hi VT Q1 There isn't really a way to center the text vertically at the moment. Both themes use identicle selector bars (in size) with different fonts, so i think the position of the text varies with the font used. You can use the same font as the mce theme (segoe media center, this only comes with mce versions of xp) to center the text. Or you can play around with other fonts to get the alignment you want. 'Frutiger' and 'Myriad' are also nice simple fonts which are similar to 'segoe' and the 'Microsoft Sans Serif' used in the hybrid theme. Q2 Alpha Blending isnt possible with gameex, thats why black dots/borders can be seen sometimes, i wish it was possible though, you could do some fancy stuff with that
  15. UPDATE: I wasn't happy with the selector bar, it was pretty ragged when stretched to widescreen, so i remade the bars. Here's the links & snaps for the final version: My Games For MCE Widescreen Hybrid Blue Widescreen Before & after: [EDIT: The original download links have been updated to include the bars] Download From FileSend Default - Hybrid Blue - Widescreen.zip (29.16 MB) Default - My Games for MCE - Widescreen.zip (9.10 MB) P.S. If you have downloaded the older versions, you can use this pack to update the bars without downloading the whole lot again. Selector Bar Update.zip (1.25 MB) Sorry for messing around, but i think its a good improvement.
  16. Thanks for that Adultery
  17. More info & screens in this post. EDIT: Optional Vista selector bar for 'hybrid blue widescreen' here Downloads: My Games For MCE.zip (8.89 MB) Hybrid Blue - Widescreen.zip (29.19 MB)
  18. Hi people, I treated myself to a widscreen tv/monitor a few days ago, so ive updated the 'Hybrid Blue' and 'My Games for MCE' to suit the widescreen resolution. - Both are Version 1 themes - Around 50 Emulator Backgrounds & icons - Resolution set to 1024 x 567. (this can be changed by altering/deleting the resolution in the theme.ini My Games For MCE Download: Default - My Games for MCE - Widescreen.zip (8.89 MB) More screens of non-widescreen version in this gameex post Hybrid Blue Download: Default - Hybrid Blue - Widescreen.zip (29.19 MB) More screens of non-widescreen version here Enjoy
  19. Ok there's definately a problem, I thought it might have had something to do with the theme layout, so i tried replacing the alpha's layout with the default one from the 'Custom V2 Default 800x600'. Still no joy GameEx still crashes when one of the menu buttons is pressed. I think there might be a bug. Tom, would you mind having a look? log.txt
  20. Hi Wookierama, Im not sure why they are crashing, i'll update my version of gameex, so i can have a look for you. Is anyone else having this problem?
  21. HK is right as ever Also if you want to disable a theme's startup video, open the theme.ini, and delete the line: StartupVideo=

    Heeeelp

Hi Michael you should be able to find in this folder: C:\Program Files\GameEx\MEDIA
  23. Im not too sure about that feature. I would'nt worry about it though, its quite unlikely you'd press all those buttons at once by mistake. So i'd setup the buttons the way you want to, no need to avoid using them.
  24. Hi cyb, welcome to GameEx! You can use the 'advanced config' files in this folder to exit games with one button on your shiney new gamepad C:\Program Files\GameEx\CONFIG\EMULATORS This example would make button eleven exit the emulators, [GAMEPADEXIT] #MAP Gamepad controls to exit and make controls exit process MapGamePadExit=true #Flag the controls that exit a game by placing True next to each control. To not use the control as part of the combination use a 0 Left= Down= Right= Up= Button1= Button2= Button3= Button4= Button5= Button6= Button7= Button8= Button9= Button10= Button11=0 Button12= Copy one of the files in the folder & make the changes you want (be sure to make changes to the [GENERAL] section also, to make sure it works the way you want it to) To enable the file for use with emulators, open up the emulator options in the configuration app, and select the file in the advanced config area. P.S. This config file this cannot be applied to mame. If you want to exit mame with a single key, i would try using the 'run on launch' and 'run on exit' option in advanced mame settings to load and close a joy2key profile with escape mapped to one of the buttons. There may be a better method for mame if you ask around.
